Great park to visit any part of the year.

Great spot for picnics. The main pavilion can't be reserved, so it is easy to grab when others are reserved (get there early and plan to share - but it is easy with 16 extra long picnic tables and 4 grills). Easy path for you to drive down to unload and repack after the meal.

For bird watchers, this place has been highly active this winter. Pileated woodpeckers are highly visible, seeing 3 of them at the picnic area. Trails are in decent shape.
