Ristorante Buon Gusto

This place has been here for over 30 years! And now I understand why! I love the atmosphere and the owner comes out and greets everyone. He even did a magic trick. The food is in a restaurant but it feels like a home cooked meal:) Had the seafood platter with polenta. It was amazing! The grilled calamari steak was the best part of it. Seafood pasta was so light and very delicious! But you have to try the clams! The sauce is soooo good!! Dip some bread in it too! I would highly recommend this Italian restaurant:)

My dad's 60th birthday celebration in the Italia room was truly wonderful. The ambiance was delightful, our server provided excellent service, and all the dishes we ordered were not only delicious but also cooked to perfection. The authenticity of the food lived up to the claims on their website. The recommended Italian wine was a perfect match for my dad's taste. Overall, we were extremely pleased with the experience.

We came in for our anniversary and this was one of the best meals we've ever had. The split pea and minestrone soups were outstanding. The tortellini buon gusto was one of the best dishes I've ever eaten. A soda was $8 and a refill was $3 - just fyi 🤣 I definitely want to come back for a special occasion. The service was impeccable and the atmosphere was perfect.

I've passed this restaurant many times and have only heard great things about it. I finally had dinner there this week and it was an extraordinary experience.

They close at 9:30 on Tuesday. Since it was 8:45, I called and asked if they could still seat me as I was 7 minutes out. They were very warm and welcoming so I went.

The ambience is quaint and traditional with real table cloths, perfect lighting and nice background music. When I walked in, a few of the tables were conversing in Italian.

My server, Basa, was extremely helpful and very attentive. GREAT service. After she explained the specials and answered my questions, I decided to order the Linguini Tutto Mare for my entree. The pasta was cooked Al Dente, and the red sauce flavors were deliciously balanced with the seafood medley. The medley consisted of small and large shrimp, calamari rings and steak, mussels, clams and salmon. It too was all perfectly cooked and had the perfect texture.

After dinner, I had the pleasure to talk with the restaurant's owner, Julian and had a great conversation about how authentic the restaurant and food were and to compliment him for having a great waitstaff and delicious food.

I am definitely going to make this a regular on my monthly trips to the Bay Area.

It was ver busy on Valentine’s Day and it was so worth it because the atmosphere was super delightful and charming. Food was excellent and the waiting staff were attentive and friendly. Bartender made good drinks

Very nice spot for dinner that wasn't too crowded. Parking can be a bit of a challenge but food was good and staff was professional. This is one of the better Italian restaurants along the Peninsula outside of San Francisco's North Beach neighborhood.

Nice atmosphere, good range of Italian dishes. We all enjoy our evening, the choice of desserts was superb. Wouldn't hesitate to come again.

It looks closed and dark from the outside, but the sign was lit, so I went in. The host and his staff are amazing. Very tentative and polite to customers. Establishment is clean and inviting. I came on business, but I would gladly bring my significant other here in a heartbeat. Awesome experience, and I will return. Support this establishment.

Maybe it’s because I live in a small uncultured town, but this is probably the best Italian food I’ve ever had. Very fast and friendly service. Highly recommend.

Old school Italian style experience with impeccable service. Your wine or water will never go less than three quarters full. The lasagna was killer and I left full and happy!

I highly recommend this place for a romantic date night dinner. The restraunt had white linens and pre placed dinning set on each table. We ordered to go but I wish we had the time to dine in. We ordered our food and it only took 10 minutes to receive. The owner was an older Italian gentleman that was super kind. He gave us each a shot of Italian liquor as he put it to "stimulate our appetite" I had the eggplant Parmigiano and my husband had veal. Both were authentic Italian and I absolutely love the grits that came with my husband's meal. Funny because I have never liked grits before. I will be dreaming about the grits!!

Promised that we would be back and here we are! Excellent service again from our servicer Basa. The food is excellently prepared and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We love this restaurant. This will be a place that we will always come back to whenever we visit South San Francisco! Thank you again!

I took myself out for a birthday dinner. The food was so delicious and the service was excellent. I was greeted with a friendly smile at the front door and made to feel very welcome as I chose my seat. Throughout my dinner, staff checked in from time to time to assure my comfort and contentment. The bartender came to my table to meet me and find out what my favourite cocktails are in order to make me one that I would be sure to enjoy - and I did!
I was visiting form out of state or else I would dine at this restaurant weekly.
BTW, I had a lovely fish entree - still think about it and crave it often. Mmmm...

Excellent Italian food, friendly service, my husband and I feel almost like home. We invite friends to celebrate special occasions!

Very family style restaurant enthused staffs the daily specials were well prepared and delicious. White fish with wine sauce and capers was divine with polenta. Bravo.

We are from Southern California and had a taste for Italian food. We came across this restaurant, decided to try it out and enjoyed the food, service was exceptional and personable, dessert and wine was great. Great place to go.
