Not a bad park for FC. The basketball court is in somewhat poor condition. I sat down to eat a sandwich at the picnic tables and picked up a splinter. Ouch! As I was shooting hoops, a black-haired lady driving a green Subaru Forester approached me with her 9-year-old son. She told me her name, introduced her son, and asked me to play ball with him. A few minutes into playing ball with her son, she told me she recognized me “from the internet” and pulled up a video of me on Tik tok making a basketball shot. She showed me myself on her phone and asked me how I am able to do that. After a little chitter chatter about my shot, she very bizarrely said she’s heading into town to take care of something important, but she doesn’t want her son coming along. She requested that I watch her son for about an hour while she headed into town. She said she knows I’m trustworthy because she gets good vibes off me. Before I knew it, she was driving away! I didn’t even really agree to watch the boy! The lady was gone for over an hour before she came back. She tried to hand me money for watching him, but I didn’t want it. I did tell her, though, never to leave her son with a complete stranger like that. She told me I’m apparently not a stranger to her because she’s seen me on the internet. That response just baffled me because even if you see someone online, they are still a stranger. I guess people in the Callaway area are more trusting? If you are one of those trusting people, please do not ever do what this lady did. I’m definitely a safe person. I love kids, but there are many dangers out there. You may think you have an idea of how somebody is by seeing them online, but you never truly know that person. Sometimes what they put online is just what they want you to see. Of course, they won’t put their bad side online. Be careful for all the parents out there reading. I was actually considering calling the FC Sheriff because I was only playing for 45 more minutes, but I ended up having to wait for her to return. She didn’t even provide me with a phone number until after she had returned! I can’t understand some people! It must have been something embarrassing that she thought would potentially damages her relationship with her son, and she must have been in a hurry to get it done. I guess I’m glad I was there because, worse, he may have been left there alone!

This park is a great park for walking. There are no frills and nothing fancy. They have a porta potty, a roughly maintained dirt baseball diamond with a backstop, a tennis court that is fenced in, a gravel walking path, two soccer goals, and down the hill there is an over grown sand volleyball court. There is a nice pavilion with tables at the entrance to the parking lot. That's not with some work, it could be a wonderful community park but it works for some exercise as is.

Picnic tables in poor condition down by the field. Nice area. Not for me. I walk with a rollator, I will keep looking for a park that is rollator friendly. Unfortunately Franklin county hasn't given thoughts to those less able
