Best meal I’ve had in New Orleans. Wonderful drinks. The duck gumbo was amazing. The shrimp & grits was the best I’ve ever had. My partner got the pork chop, and my bite was delicious. The tres leches bread pudding was really good too. The server was helpful - there when you wanted him and away when you didn’t want him. All in all, a great experience.

Flavors burst inside your mouth with each bite, this phenomenal culinary experience is worth savoring! We loved everything about our dining experience. We dropped in with no reservations and selected patio dining to enjoy the wide boulevard. Serving staff attentive, cocktails amazing, and the FOOD.... well, come see for yourself.

Husband ordered the Korean chicken sandwich of fried honey chicken, each crunch released a burst of sweet flavor. I ordered the Tuscan eggs with polenta, rattitoulle, with wilted spinach and basil, and I have not been so delighted by a perfect flavoring mix than I was just now.

This is a must-experience dining!

The bartender was awesome. Shrimp and grits to die for. Crab cake was great. Fried green tomatoes were out of this world. Mimosas spot on. Well worth the money!

We were those people who showed up right at the end of happy hour, but before our reservations. I know, I know. But, the host and bartender couldn’t have been more friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. We were able to order some drinks from the happy hour menu (the whiskey sour was top notch), then we were seated slightly ahead of our reservation time. We were immediately greeted by our server whose personality, attentiveness, and service were all amazing. We then dove into the focused, creative menu for an exquisite dinner. The gumbo du jour is easily the best seafood gumbo I have eaten. Rich, deep, spicy, and briny…just perfect. The red snapper special was exceptional, the truffle beet purée unlike anything I’ve had and the way it married with the fish was unreal. The harissa cauliflower was surprisingly delicious. The duck leg…whoa. The greens were so, so good. Sadly, we were too full to order dessert, but we did receive a complimentary to go drink thanks to another patron’s mistake, so that was a great surprise. Go to the Garden District and eat here. You must.

A fantastic dining experience for tourists and locals alike, Atchafalaya does not disappoint. Located near the Garden District, the atmosphere is quaint and quirky and the staff friendly and attentive. The food is elevated southern cuisine. You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu, from drinks to dessert. My spouse had the gumbo, shrimp and grits (best of his life), and the tres leches bread pudding. I had the pork chop and was too full for dessert but was provided some spiced pecans upon request. What a divine meal! Go here if you get the chance! And hey, they have a happy hour, too!

My first time at Atchafalaya was in 2014, then again in 2018, and I just went back 10 years later in 2024. As someone who doesn't live in New Orleans, I hope this is a testament to just how wonderful my experiences have been at this restaurant across a whole decade.

Since I was diagnosed with Celiac a few months ago, I panicked that there might not be gluten free options when I planned the trip to New Orleans, but thankfully I was wrong.
Not only were there options, but they were DELICIOUS. I went with the shrimp & grits (I have been craving the grits since I tried them back in 2018) and my plate was cleared when I was through with it. My mom had the chicken and waffles, and my grandma had the huevos rancheros. They also enjoyed the cornbread muffins and I ordered another side of grits just for them.

It's hard to find a restaurant where you can expect consistently good service and delicious food that preserves its essence years down the line, but Atchafalaya is that place. Can't wait to go back!

Réveillon supper was my final meal in New Orleans on this trip. Réveillon is a December holiday tradition in New Orleans. It is a traditionally a large family meal that is shared after midnight mass after Christmas.

Atchafalaya’s Réveillon Supper was a four course meal starting with poached oyster stew, warm duck confit salad, Wagyu short rib for the main, with a classic bûche de noël for dessert. I also had the wine pairing with the meal.

My favourite courses were the duck confit salad and the bûche de noël. Everything was stellar though, I cleared each plate. Service was impeccable; I was seated at the bar and had a lovely time chatting with the bartender.

Quaint little restaurant with dim lighting, small tables with candles, flowers, and great art on the walls. Great selection available from the bar. Happy hour ends at 5:30, so come early if possible. Reservations highly recommended. Started with Turtle soup, fried green tomatoes & deviled eggs. We enjoyed the fish, shrimp & grits, and duck for our meals. Then finished with 1 bread pudding for the 3 of us - just enough for everyone. Mario was a very pleasant and attentive waiter. Women's bathroom was very nice with antique fixtures.

We really enjoyed our experience here. First of all, Luis gave us perfect service. We sat outside, and I would try and do that if a nice day. The soup of the day was lobster bisque, so...duhh. We split that. We got some deviled eggs also that were different and perhaps the best we have ever had. Wife got the Tuscan Eggs and I had the Breakfast Risotto. Both were incredible in taste and we would recommend them both. They were out of IPA during our visit, but the Susie's Blonde was pretty good on the recommendation from Luis. This is a nice escape from the downtown experience of New Orleans, but close enough that you should do it. Definitely recommend and see you there (the next time we are in New Orleans from Denver).

We went for Sunday brunch and my Gf has a severe fish allergy, so they accommodated us by sitting us outside on the back porch (Even though we didn’t have outside reservation). We had the Waffle du Jour, Breakfast Risotto and the Steak and eggs special. We shared their homemade biscuit and house-made boudin links (must try). Located in the quiet and nostalgic East Riverside neighborhood, Atchafalaya is a local/visitor favorite. We will definitely be back.

The best grits I’ve ever had. It was creamy with savory sauce. I loved fried tomatoes with shrimp and oyster gumbo. Service was good and beyond.

The food here was excellent. I enjoyed that it really reflects a true French brunch due to the pace they set while eating. It was awesome. I enjoyed the appetizers, and the lunch was great. I had their fried Brussels sprouts which is glazed in miso honey, with sunflower seeds and mint. It was excellent. For the main course I had their Huevos Rancheros, which is gluten free. It was divine. This is probably one of the lighter items on their menu, as well. I think it might have been the healthiest Huevos Racheros I’ve ever had in my life. My significant other had gumbo, deviled eggs, fried green tomatoes, and for the main course he had some sort of Korean chicken burger with fries (I can’t find the actual name of this entree on the website but if you go into the restaurant it’s on the menu). My SO isn’t gluten free like me, but he had absolutely nothing bad to say about the food he had. The chicken sandwich was his favorite food item for the day, and he complimented it saying it was one of the best things he’d ever tasted before. We would definitely return to this location.

local quality you can taste. worth travelling out of the French Quarter if you are visiting. take the blue bikes and get yourself here. got advice from a local that it’s a good sign if restaurant closes between 2 & 5 which this one does. came at lunch and had both iterations of their bloody mary, gumbo du jour, scallop special. came with baby corn breads. only wish i could have tried a full course dinner and i bet their dessert would kill.

We did not have a reservation, however the owner was able to find us a table. The chicken sandwich is a must try!! Best happy hour in New Orleans. Needles to say, great service!

What an amazing experience! My party of 9 had dinner early on a Saturday evening. Our table was ready right on time, our server was absolutely delightful, and we all had the best time! Highlights were definitely the fried green tomato appetizer, and the shrimp and grits entrée. Our server insured that we always had plenty of food and drinks on the table, and he was highly attentive from start to finish. Highly recommended!! 10/10!

Well rounded selection of fish, beef, chicken, pork entrees and specials. Upscale casual dining with both indoor and outdoor seating surrounded by local artisan. Professional, knowledgeable and gracious staff were still very nice to with our party's dietary needs and taste preferences. Specialty cocktails were all delicious, great wine selection. We had 3 appetizers, 3 sides, 4 different entrees and three desserts. Every single dish was fabulous and each person had a different favorite.

Enjoyed brunch here. We ordered some small plates to share and enjoyed our own entree. Definitely a spot in New Orleans to try when you are in the area. The drinks were refreshing. Would suggest making a reservation as they can fill up quickly and walk ins might be hard for brunch.

Our group of five had a great dinner. A fun smaller place, well worth going. The bar and wine list were extensive. Flat out a cool place to go for dinner. It was a good find in a city that has some of the big (famous) tourist restaurants.

Phenomenal, versatile neighborhood spot for brunch, happy hour cocktails, or dinner.

Vastly underrated happy hour; some of the best drinks and small plates in town if you’re looking to pop in on a weekday.

Inside, the space is small and cozy, so make a reservation if you’re coming for brunch, especially on a weekend.

Overall one of my favorite uptown spots for food and drinks.
