Effler's Grocery

Great place to grab some home-made jams and butter and some fresh farmer's market produce. They have everything you would need for a few days in the mountains. The service was exceptional! I will definitely be going back. And the gas pumps actually work.

First time visiting and enjoyed talking with the Effler Man that was running the store.
Great selection of local produce including peaches, apples, tomatoes, white sweet potatoes, Irish potatoes and all kinds of jams, jelly's, honey, locally made butter and they also sell a huge variety of different jars of smoky mountain products like peanut butter, apple butter, pickled vegetables such as dilly beans and many others.
The store is located close to Carolina Hemlock Campground as well as One Other Big Campground That Connects To The Parkway, Both Campgrounds Considered Being On South Toe In Yancey County.
This Is A Great And Convenient Store With All The Necessities One Would Need When Camping And Might Run Out Of Any Needed Supplies Without Having To Drive All The Way Into Town.

Great place to pick up supplies if hanging out in the forest for a period of time. Ice and firewood available as well as basic necessities you might need. Fresh veggies in season, great for hobo meals over the fire. I always stop in when I’m out this way for a drink, sometimes it’s my excuse to drive out this way. Friendly people always! :)

Super hospitable and a great place to grab groceries without having to travel down the mountain. Prices are higher than normal but that's totally understandable and worth not having to make the drive to town. Be sure to grab some of the fresh fruit.... Some of the best apples we've ever had!

Such an awesome, local grocery pit stop shop! The owner took care of us and chatted a nice bit about his business and living the mountain life. HIGHLY recommended. We bought a lot of the fresh produce he provided and made THE BEST dinner that night!

Been coming here since I was a child as we have a family cabin near by. The staff are always friendly and the prices are very fair considering how remote the location is. We should do all we can to support great local small businesses like this.

William is a long time family friend and his store is awesome. He's your last chance for that quick snack before u hit the parkway where theres nothing or go down Buck Creek and have to wait till u get to Marion. Stop by and see William and enjoy some true southern hospitality.

Absolutely wonderful little store not to far from Mt Mitchell. Very friendly people. Fresh produce, jellies, jams, apple butter, honey, boiled peanuts and just a little bit of everything. My boyfriend and I could go broke in this store if we bought all the things we wanted to!

we had to come down off Mt.Michell because of storm and fog. Very cool little place. Fresh melons and peaches. Coleman stove tanks too. Great place to dry off. Gas !

Homegrown snap beans, tomatoes, peaches, squash, zucchini, red onions in baskets as you walk in. Every kind of convenience store priced grocery. Bought beautiful tomatoes Dukes Mayo and Wise onion rings for mater samage lunch.

Great place with fresh local produce, a variety of essentials, and warm welcoming staff with great stories. Absolutely love stopping by every time I'm around, such a cool spot to fill up the tank or belly.

Filled up the car with gas, bought some apples and enjoyed talking with some folks in the store. The owner was very friendly and helpful.
