Really great primitive campground! A great location situated in the middle of the Blue Ridge Parkway between Asheville and Boone. This campground is close to the town of Spruce Pine, which has a Walmart, a few restaurants, etc. their bathrooms were very clean, and the tent sites included a firing ring, tent pad and picnic table. their sites are on a first come first serve basis. I went in the middle of October and I got there about 1 PM on a Saturday and there were a lot of sites available, but they did fill up quickly as the day went on. They have Rv sites. The trail to Crabtree Falls is right beside the campground. You can also purchase a bundle of wood at the campground if needed.

Nice location along ridge in mountains of blue ridge parkway. Great tent camping loop, no electric, no water, good restroom building. Lots of big campfires 🔥 burning. Some campers don't follow etiquette for walking around, not thru, other persons campsites. Overall good.

Crabtree Falls Campground is a great place to spend the night or a few. Clean restrooms , clean facilities. Camp sites for tents are small each site has a pad for the tent which is level. A fire pit and picnic table. No showers. Hiking trails at the campground. Rv’s have their own loop and up to 50 ft only a few rest are smaller. Sites are 20.00 a day.

Absolutely beautiful waterfall! Well worth the hike! I took my one year old, it is strenuous in some areas so make sure you have a carrier with you if have small ones. They have restrooms at the campgrounds, you walk right through the campgrounds on your way to the falls so don’t worry. It took us about an hour.

This place is magical and beautiful .. the campsite was closed, maybe due to covid, but we did the hiking to the waterfall, all the way is very well maintained and with beautiful views. just wear good hiking shoes. we only went 2 days ago. definitely a place to return.

This is one of the best “little secret” campgrounds I’ve been to in a while! My husband and I took an impromptu trip up to Linville Falls and another visitor told us to go check out Crabtree Falls. We mentioned that we were looking for a place to set up camp for the night and he told us about Crabtree Falls campground. We were shocked and pleased to find it mostly empty on a Saturday evening! Even better, it is right off the Blue Ridge Parkway and the bath houses have actual flushing toilets, running sink water, soap, lights, outlets, and a mirror. There are no showers or water pumps but the sites all have fire pits with an optional grill. There are two loops, loop A seemed to be more for campers. Toward the back of loop B the sites are well spaced. You can access the trail to the falls from the campground too! The hike starts easy but does get strenuous (stairs, lots of rocks, and some rock hopping). The climb back up is intense in some areas but the falls are worth it, they are absolutely gorgeous. The trail to the Fall starts by the ranger hut and loops out to loop B of the campground. It is approximately 2 miles. The ranger was not on duty during our visit but there was still plenty of seasoned firewood bundles for purchase through a drop box ($5 a bundle) and the camp cost was $20 a night, cash, check or credit card (no debit only cards are accepted).

Awesome place to camp, stayed here two nights picked open spot to pop up the tent and stay for the weekend. Host of campground is super nice and the women worked the front post was very helpful letting us know of things to do in the area! Felt very welcoming here. Our tent and belongings were safe all day, this campground is very well maintained and kept an eye on thought the day. There are bathrooms and they were cleaned both mornings, not sure if you been hiking but these are clean bathrooms for a campground. No showers though.
Best part there is hiking trail located in the campground to Crabtree falls, did the loop and personally the best route is to start in the campground and come out at the parking lot, the falls are a must see so do it ! I would say this is an intermediate hike about 2.5 miles but I seen few little kids so it's not hard but make sure you take some water! Spent a total of 3.5 hours on the hike, stop enjoyed the views and checked out the falls for at least an hour. Dog friendly too.

Nice quiet woodsy campground. Two loops. Only spotted a couple sites with hookups. Picnic table and firepit at site. Bathrooms available. Fire wood for sale. The walk to the falls is worth it, although strenuous. Bring water!!

It is a nice Campground right off of the parkway not too far from Little Switzerland. There is also a bout 3 Mile Walk loop trail to Crabtree Falls. Is worth the effort. However if you have bad knees are bad ankles it should probably be avoided. Sections of the loop are very Rocky and steep. A walking stick is very helpful. If you are in a average physical condition and can walk on moderately steep Rocky Trail it should not be a problem,

This is the real location to get to Crabtree Falls. The trail will take you all the way down to it from here.

A great campground for tent or RV camping. The spots are nice with tent pads and fire rings and you can check in at the kiosk or on the app. Beautiful area with trails that lead to a gorgeous waterfall. A tad strenuous if you're not used to hiking but definitely worth the trip. Possible sasquatch in the area.

Beautiful, serene NPS campground on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Some reservable sites and others first-come-first-serve. Park ranger was very friendly at check-in. Given that the campground is at about 4000 feet elevation, high temperature was only in the mid 70’s while we were there on July 6-7. No hookups but a convenient dump station at the exit.

We love this campground for its quiet, location (lots to explore around the area), and cost. It's older and does not have many amenities: no showers, hot water, on-site host, firewood for sale, etc - at least when we were there mid-week. Maybe on weekends/holidays, they staff it.
If you car-camp a lot you might find it less to your liking. The bathrooms had some rust, some sites were a little mossy and overgrown, and it can be damp and drizzly if the clouds are low. We typically backpack so by that standard: it had a bathroom that was cleaned daily, a pump with potable water, we didn't have to hang our food, they had plenty of first-come, first-serve sites, saw multiple unique critters (snails, salamanders, efts, caterpillars, birds, butterflies, etc), and our kids loved poking around the waterfall and in the woods behind our site. A great place to stay if you prefer quiet and more nature over amenities.

Beautiful, the grounds are in need of some upkeep however the trail was beautiful and loops so you don't have to turn around.

The crabtree falls are a site to see. It is only a 2mile roundtrip hike to the falls from the main parking lot.

Great little campground with no hookups, but there is a dump site and water. It's pretty much covered with trees, so it's hard to get enough sun if you have solar panels. The trail head is accessible from the campground to this beautiful waterfall. The hike is a loop, about 2.5 miles but it will get a bit challenging at times. If you have hiking rods bring them for the hike, you'll be happy you did.. Internet wise, hardly any Verizon and some AT&T in the campground.

Lovely waterfall with bridge in front of it. Also like the stone steps on the trail. If you have bad balance or bad knees then you might have trouble as much of the trail is rocky. Trail isn't too tough of a walk if you are in fair health. The way back from the waterfall is almost all in an incline so plan for it to take longer to get back from the waterfall. Waterfall is had many good spots for taking good photos.

First time camping there. Pulled up to the guard shake and spoke to the most wonderful ranger who explained its first come, first serve and how in her opinion there were much better sites still available than the one we reserved. After saying our preference, she circled several that she thought would be great for us and told us to go take a look and just let her know which one we take.

The site itself was nestled back behind a couple of other sites, giving us the privacy we like. Because of predicted rains, very few other campers were there which gave us freedom to wander without intruding on anyone else's fun.

I would definitely recommend this campground if nothing else then they have the BEST staff to help. :)

Great, secluded little campground off of the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway! Great hiking trail right from the campground to Crabtree Falls. Totally worth the hike!
