Jon was fantastic. Needed a car while I was moving but mine was in the shop and he had a mini van that was perfect for the situation and he offered very competitive pricing compared to other rental companies in the area. They also give rides to the airport if you need one.

My personal vehicle broke down over 500 miles from home. Black Hills Car Rental helped me out of a difficult spot. They tried their best to find me an economical vehicle to get home even though there was a shortage of rentals due to tourist season. They were nice to work with when after a week my vehicle repair was still not complete and it was almost a week past the original contract until I could return the rental. They charged me the same fair price for the unplanned second week.

They are also honest. They video the rental when you pick it up. I did not notice a dent in the bottom of the rocker panel when I picked up the car (and didnt note it in the video) and was afraid I’d be blamed for the damage. But they were honest and said the dent was in fact there before I took the car.

I would recommend and use this Company again.

We rented a Suburban from them in June. In typical northern hills fashion, we got hail damage and not a little. They were so easy to work with even though my insurance made it an absolute nightmare. It took months to work it out, and Jon was so patient and provided everything I needed. It’s one thing to have good service when everything is going right, but it’s a whole other level when things go wrong. We will rent from them again!

My first time using Black Hills Car Rentals. Their price was very competitive. They came to the airport and picked me up right out front. Made it very convenient. All of the staff were very friendly and polite. From when I called to make the reservation, to the gentleman that picked me up at the airport, to the staff at the business that completed the transaction. Everyone was great to work with. I'll definitely be using them again.

My mother and I rented a car from Black Hills Rentals, and it was a great experience! The prices were competitive, the car was in great shape and very clean, and the staff was very accommodating. They picked us up at the airport, and dropped us off when we were done. All of the staff we encountered were friendly. I would recommend them for renting a car to see the area!

My husband and I rode motorcycles from seattle to rapid city. We wanted to rent a car for one day to give it a break. Black hills rentals was not able to loan us a vehicle because we didn’t have car insurance only motorcycle insurance which doesn’t work for cars. But they were able to refer us to a different rental place that offers insurance and they also gave us ride to that location so we wouldn’t have to pay for another uber ride. Thank you!

We had a very good experience using Black Hills Car Rentals for 2 minivans for a high school group. It is only a 10-15 minute drive from the airport, and reliable. All was as promised, and when we found ourselves in a time crunch at the end of the trip, they picked the minivans up from the airport, saving us time. We will use them again!

My friend and I rented a car from Black Hills Car Rental in Rapid City SD from 07/18/22 through 07/25. What a great experience. Very professional. Picked us up at the airport, it took only minutes to complete paperwork at the office and we were on our way. I had spoken to Jon a couple of times and everything he told me was just what took place. I highly recommend this company. The price was much better than any other rental company I checked with as well. The car was clean, drove like a dream. We had an excellent experience renting from Black Hills car rentals! Our family of 6 was coming to the Black Hills area for vacation and needed a large SUV to accommodate our needs. I priced out SUVS with some of the chain rental companies and was very put out by the outrageous rental costs. I went in search of other options and came across Black Hills Car Rentals. When i called, they quoted me HALF of what the other companies were charging!! They had excellent reviews so we took a chance! It worked out perfectly!! When we arrived at the airport we called Jon to let him know we had arrived. He directed us where to go and he came to pick us up within 15 minutes. We went back to their offices to sign papers, then we were off! It was simple! The car was a very nice, well maintained Silver Suburban. My husband and I both noted that this SUV was nicer than the other SUVs we've rented in the past from other chain rental companies. If you're coming to the Rapid City area and in need of a rental, this is the place to go! Don't waste your money on those other big name chains! Happy traveling!

Absolutely seamless! Our car was clean and nice. We got the least expensive car they had available and booked well in advance, which I highly recommend in the area. We paid $299 a week for the economy vehicle and it was a nice little Kia that had Apple Car Play which we enjoyed for navigation. These guys could not have been better. For a very small fee, they dropped the car off at the airport for us, and the drop off process was super quick--they took us to the airport and dropped us at the gate in the same vehicle so we didn't have to mess around with the luggage. Just couldn't have been a better deal or a more convenient set up. If we ever return to the area and need a rental car, we will use these guys above the big companies hands down--NO COMPARISON, honestly! They FAR exceeded ANY experience we've ever had with any of the other car rental companies and we've used all of them at one time or another. FAR, FAR, FAR exceeded!

Prices were much more fair than big companies at the airport. My bill was also exactly what they had quoted me over the phone, which never happens to us when we rent from the big name companies. The car was clean, the airport pickup/dropoff went smoothly, and the car worked well. Couldn't have asked for a better experience!

Great car rental place. Prices are fair compared to some of the companies at the airport. The car was in better condition than the one from the last “big name” rental car company we rented from and the people who work here are all very friendly. Even though they are located away from the airport, they pick you up and drop you off. I unfortunately had a leg injury on vacation and they were very accommodating with an early return for us. I hope to get out to South Dakota again and would rent from this place.

Great experience and customer service. We drove out in an RV and wanted a small compact car to tool around the Black Hills. So easy to work with and really like doing business with local business instead of the "big" rental companies. Price was great, car was clean. And the location was perfect coming in from the scenic was off 44 from the Badlands.

Black Hills Car Rental was amazing! They were extremely reasonably priced especially compared to the big chains. And everyone we worked with was helpful and hospitable - John, Russel, Steve, and one other man who I am sad to have forgotten his name. Anyway, this was an awesome local company to work with and I would highly recommend.

Just back from vacay in Black Hills that would not have been possible without finding this business... Got reasonable prices rental ( 1/3 of the big guys) for 5 days with EXCELLENT service... they picked us up from airport, 5 minutes to sign papers at the office which is 15 minutes from airport...with no pressure to buy insurance and gas we didn't need, and we were OFF! At end of trip drove back to the office, they checked out the car, and drove us back to airport, total time 25 minutes or less. These guys epitomize customer service.
