I love this place. Super friendly. Great prices. Cute doggo. Athena is the best, loudest, most playful mascot and she's a joy to be around. The prices are reasonable and Janna works hard to make sure her clients are well taken care of.

She’s not like those cookie cutter haircut places like Cost Cutters or The Man Salon. She takes her time cutting and the haircut is great! Yesterday was my 3rd time there and I will continue to go back! I’d give her more stars if I could! She deserves them for her skills. If I look up Barber Shop in the Dictionary I would hope to find A-1 as the definition!!

She is by far the BEST razor certified barber in Rapid City! Yes haircuts take an hour. Bada** haircuts take time! The price is MORE than reasonable. The only problem I have with her shop is she needs to invest in a HUGE flat screen so we can watch sports while we wait for an hour?! She makes plenty of money!

I've been going to Janna for about 2 years now and she is one of the best barbers in the city great cut quality lines and best of all a great conversation she is one of the few people in rapid city I will let cut my hair

The owner, Janna is absolutely amazing. Her haircuts far exceed the other barbershops. Her prices are amazing and she cares for all who walk into her shop. If you are getting your haircut anywhere else, stop and start going to A1 barbershop, you won’t be disappointed!

Best place in Rapid for old school barber skills!! Been getting the same haircut for 20 years and just moved her about a year ago and she kills it every time. Highly recommended!!

Great consistent barbershop, I have been coming here since the doors have been open. In regards to the review before mine, as a parent to an autistic child: maybe the best way to taylor your son’s experience is to walk into the shop and explain your situation to the business owner and ask to arrange a cut before or after hours to not overstimulate your kiddo that’s what I do for my autistic son in ANY situation. Doing this shows respect for both YOUR CHILD and the small business owner.

The barber was very professional! She does well with cutting ethic hair! The only barber my son will allow to cut his hair! Very good with children! She is fast and thorough! She always aims to please! If you need a barber you should come here!

New to Rapid City, I tried a few barber shops out. I found A-1 to be the best place for me. Jana does a fine job with her fades and the price is right ($15-cash only). It is also walk-ins only, so I would suggest calling ahead of time to see on wait time.

Jenna rocks and is awesome with my son he always looks so handsome after leaving her shop she does amazing!

At the time of this post, the barber charges $15 for a haircut and $17 for a razor fade! She takes her time when cutting your hair, and trims your eyebrows and beard. Great quality haircut, awesome personality and extremely reasonably priced! Yes, she uses the old school barber razor...When you ask for a fade!

She’s the best Barber in the entire City! I’ve been to every hair salon and every barber shop they all are mediocre. Her fades are flawless her lines are clean. Give her once chance and you’ll keep coming back!!

A-1 Barbershop is the best barber shop in town to get a straight razor fade, at a reasonable price. I've been to at least 10 different Barbershops in Rapid City and most won't even do a straight razor. So, if you are military or a Veteran, check A-1 Barbershop out and get a close cut and a good fade.

She gave me an amazing haircut. I'll definitely be going back again.

Great barbershop I wanted a haircut on a Saturday but by the time I’ll get off work she was going to be closed. She waited for me to get off work and show up to give me a great haircut. She will go out of her ways for her customers. 5+ start from me.
