This place oozes old school cool with a wall of vintage bean dispensers right as you walk in! The baristas are friendly and made me one of the best lattes I've ever had! Really looking forward to going back for beans and another latte next time I'm in the city.

I love my visits to Canaltown. It’s a tranquil little coffee shop with 8-10 tables. A great place to spend alone or catch up with friends.
I ordered a frozen hot chocolate and a cut out cookie that was too good to wait to take the picture!

Canaltown has been roasting coffee in the same location for 31 years, and they've learned a lot of things over this period, so when they have a blend called "Rochester's Choice", you know it's based on experience.

Currently, my wife and I have been enjoying the organic Peruvian and making our own Rochester's choice by mixing half regular roast and half French roast, so good I included a picture.

Absolutely best coffee and cappuccino in town! I always buy Canaltown's dark roast to make my own espresso at home. I am Italian and I care a lot about coffee, it's an important ritual for me and I feel that at Canaltown they feel the same. My mum came to Rochester twice and she always want to go there for a cappuccino. I highly recommend it.

I've been on a coffee kick lately. The beans here are really fresh. Extremely friendly staff. Great prices too, with perks to bring you back. Thanks for sourcing some great tasting coffee!

5 years later and still incredible, amazing coffee

I am ashamed to say I have never been here before.
Quaint small no frills coffee shop. They put all their effort into great coffee and espresso. They have some good looking deserts, local art to view and comfy chairs to relax in.
The proprietor was very helpful and offered some samples of brewed coffee while I waited in line.
I am not disappointed and will add their beans into my rotation.

A nice little place on East Ave, a pleasant surprise! Coffee is exceptional.

Very impressive and this place is a hidden gem. Can't beat freshly roasted coffee that's done on display. The friendly owner explained all the different beans offered and mentioned he's traveled to some of the growers estates. He even let us watch a batch of coffee being roasted and explained the process. This inside is not fancy but it's a great experience, excellent coffee, and not overpriced. Worth a visit, especially if you value and appreciate fresh roasted coffee beans.

Great place for coffee including whole bean in many varieties

My favorite coffee in Rochester (note that I tend to prefer darker roasts.) Great espresso drinks, fantastic selection of beans, very friendly staff. The Mocha Java blend - a dark and medium mix, unflavored despite what the name seems to imply - is my personal favorite.

I've shopped here many times in the past and they always have great coffee. Went back there recently and they're as good as ever. Nice local small business. Try some different beans and other goodies.

Best coffee I've ever had in my life. Lots of great selections including organic coffee beans and a variety of teas. Very friendly staff and a home-like atmosphere that always smells fantastic. If you get a chance, definitely say Hi to the owner, Pete; he's a great guy! Highly recommend! Don't let the outside decieve you. It's so worth the walk in 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Just had my first experience here. My drinks were so delicious that I ended up buying three different bags of coffee. The lady working was so nice and helped us since it was our first time. Such a cute place. Found my new coffee spot!

Small, casual setting with a few bistro-like tables. They do their own coffee roasting here and the smell when you walk in is intoxicating.. in a great way. Their coffee is all fair trade, so it is a little more expensive, but well worth the experience. They have a small selection of baked goods, smoothies, hot and iced coffees as well as other bottled drinks. They also have coffee to be purchased by the pound and they will grind it up however you would like. The staff is always helpful and pleasant.

BEST COFFEE IN THE WORLD! (And I've been around the world and back) What makes the best coffee is where you get the green beans and then how soon you roast the bean before you make coffee. Well this place roasts the coffee beans everyday so it can't get fresher then that! And the places where they get the beans are only the highest quality locations. The atmosphere is awesome and relaxing. After the first time I stepped into this coffee shop I can't drink coffee anywhere else!

My favorite coffee here is the Peruvian light roast in a French press! The lighter roasts have much more caffeine (because the longer the coffee is roasted the more caffeine gets burned out of the bean) and are a much smother coffee. Don't try it if you have heart issues!

The coffee is EXCELLENT! I bought a pound of whole bean coffee (Dark Roast) for my home coffee maker because I was so impressed with the flavor of their coffee. I ordered a hot Latte & added a little sugar to it but I choose to not get a flavor so I could judge the quality of their coffee that they roast themselves. I love coffee & I typically drink strong coffee and Canaltowns coffee was PERFECT to me.
