Minervas Restaurant & Bar

I haven't reviewed in a while, and my visit last night to Minervas was just what I needed to get excited about local dining again. Normally, I hesitate when I see a restaurant located in a hotel.
This was totally unjustified as it was one of the best experiences I've had in the region. Artichoke dip- perfectly chunky, walleye-criped to perfection, whiskey sirloin- beat all the other steakhouses in the area. Bread pudding- exceptionally soggy.
We went to watch NCAA basketball and sat at the bar.
The bartender was incredibly hospitable, and thankfully, the full menu was available.
The tap selection is quite diverse as well.

Was beginning to think it's tough to find a good restaurant in Rapid city since its chock full of fast food places, but once again Google search to the rescue. Really liked Minervas, Our server, Jake, was one of the nicest people you could hope to meet. A very nice dining experience. Cajun Chicken was on point as were their deserts (Creme Brulee and a Chocolate Souffle). Wasn't expecting a salad bar and always kind of leery about places that have one. However, this one was top notch. Highly recommended.

Hard one to judge fairly because I received my soup only a minute before my entree. As a slow eater this was a pretty big bummer because it meant I ate most of the meal cold.

Still giving full stars because it seemed like an honest mistake and having been a server I know how hard it can be to manage timings of dishes when you switch from really busy to slow.

Other service was great, the place was clean and put together, the food was incredibly good. Got some meat soup and the steak tips. Fantastic.

We went before the dinner crowd and was seated immediately. Our waitress was very friendly and very informative. The meal was excellent. My wife had the ranch burger / hold the bun. I had a bone in bison steak, we both added the salad bar.

Best lunch buffet ever! Super nice food presentation with solid service and seating. Go to place for business lunch in Rapid City!
Breakfast closes at 10. There is plenty of close parking. Free coffee while you are waiting in the Hotel lobby next door.
Good places to make last-minute phone calls.

This is a very nice restaurant. If you want a nice quiet place to have a meal that is reasonably priced. I was surprised how clean it was being attached to a motel. I would give 5 stars across the board if they had more options to calory restricted diets. Otherwise, this place knocks it out of the park when it comes to setting a standard of proper treatment of customers.

Clean, well staffed with professionals, and consistent in their menu selections. They keep the salad bar well stocked and tidy, and the lettuce is always fresh and crisp. Top notch restaurant in Rapid with a nice atmosphere and reasonable prices for high quality food. PS - Chislic is not on the menu but they have it if you ask for it! ❤

Service and food were really good. I do suggest this place. I love the atmosphere, and they made you feel special.

Great food and service. We had the salmon and the buffalo burger with fruit and the summer dessert grilled angel food cake with fruit and strawberry ice cream.

Food was very good, atmosphere was nice, and service was good. Wait staff was a little slow but we did have a large group. I had the Honey Pepper Salmon which was cooked properly and very tasty. The green beans were not overcooked and the mashed potatoes had a great texture and were very good. To start, we had an Italian salad which was very good. I had the cheesecake with strawberry-rhubarb topping for dessert and wasn't impressed. It was just average. Overall, a very pleasant dining experience.

Our waitress was named Taylor.
Her service was exceptional, and my wife says that was an understatement.
This Woman needs a raise Minervas! Keep her happy and she will keep making your customers happy!

We stopped here for dinner on our last night of vacation, and I will say the service was AMAZING. My wife and kids loved their food. The French Onion Soup was perfect. The Buffalo Burger was cooked perfectly medium rare. My wife ordered the Tatanka Steak asked for medium rare, it was a little more on the rare side but she was not disappointed. My kids say the Buffalo Burger and grilled cheese were the best they ever had.

Good appetizers and nice atmosphere. We usually go here before a movie. Service is always good and food is constant. They have really good dinner and a great brunch.

Delicious food, wonderful presentation of each plate, server extremely attentive AND boxed up our leftovers for us! We didn't have to try to scrape our food into our own container. She did it for us! Definitely a place to return to!

I had a group dinner here at the end of a tour of "Cowboy Country." There were two other events at the restaurant that invited us to visit their events. This hospitality on the way to dinner left me with a good feeling. Our dinner and presentation was wonderful. I was impressed when the staff and manager actually stayed to bid us farewell. There's an inlay in/on the lobby floor. I would have not noticed how intricate it was until an art teacher in the group pointed out the fine details.

My diet has changed over the years. I would give a 5 star on the food if they had more diet friendly options. Otherwise, this is a great place to have a great meal at a reasonable price.

Stopped for the night in Rapid City, South Dakota during Labour Day holiday road trip. A very pleasant surprise to find this restaurant here in Rapid City. Very good food and prompt, on-time preparation of food for pickup at the restaurant. (Due to the coronavirus/COVID-19 situation, we decided to order online on Minervas restaurant website.) We ordered a kid's menu Chicken Strips with French Fries ($7.00), a Sausage and Shrimp penne with a side of House Chop Salad ($3.00) and a Triple Cheese Mac with Salmon ($20.00) with a side Caesar Salad (also $3.00) for a grand total of $55.90 including taxes. We ordered the food for pickup at 6:45pm and it was ready when I arrived at the restaurant. See images for ordered food. The salmon and penne were both delicious and portions were larger than we expected. Give it a try - if we come back to Rapid City, we'll make a point of doing so again. Recommended!

My parents and I went to Minervas in Rapid City in June 2023 for dinner. It was pretty much a perfect meal. The restaurant has an air of old-school 1960s fine dining, but slightly relaxed. It's spacious but warm. The service is impeccable. The menu is not overly large and offers a good mix of standard and updated classics. Our party ordered the pork tenderloin marsala, potato-crusted walleye, and triple cheese mac (my dish) -- all were delicious (and I am still obsessed with the triple cheese mac). Warm bread and whipped butter preceded our meal, and we did not order an appetizer. This meant we had some room for dessert. We chose the butterscotch marshmallow bread pudding. I don't have much of a sweet tooth, but this hit the spot -- despite the name, it was not at all overly sugary, and the bourbon butterscotch sauce was a lovely warm custard in the English style. The wine selection was very good as well. And the prices are very reasonable, even coming from Canada, where our dollar does not hold much value compared to US currency. Highly recommended.

The staff at our hotel recommended Minervas and I am so glad we took their advice. Great wait staff, nice quiet atmoshere and delicious food. It was Octoberfest and a couple of the dishes were simply amazing. My companion had the apple spinach salad and said it was excellent. It was a good experience.

We always come here for special occasions, great food and a little bit nicer than the average Rapid City Restaurant. I always get the champagne chicken and it’s awesome!
