Our family has used Osheim & Schmidt Funeral for many of our family members over the years, and have never been disappointed. We recently used their services for the loss of my mother. Again, they exceeded our expectations. Jes handled our mom's service throughout the entire process and was so compassionate, empathetic, and helpful. She took care of things we didn't even think of, and helped well after the funeral was over. They made my mom look so beautiful, did her makeup and nails just the way she liked. They did an outstanding job and everything was absolutely perfect! We highly recommend using their services.

The compassion and care we received from Osheim &Schmidt after we recently lost our mom was outstanding. They handled everything for us, did a wonderful presentation for the service, and helped us a lot during a difficult time. I must single out Jes, who simply went above and beyond anything that would be expected. She took care of the flowers (which were beautiful), everything for the service, and things that were even beyond what I believe most places would consider assisting with. And all the while, being a truly caring and compassionate person.

When my grandmother passed away in Nov of 2022, they went above and beyond what we had expected. We were leaving to go out of the country a few days after my grandmother's passing, Robert worked closely with my dad on all the details, making sure that we would be able to carry out her service, they also made sure everything went smoothly with her cremation so we could take her cremains with us when we left.

More recently, my dad passed away suddenly in Sept of 2023, my family was so lost, we didn't know how to navigate up from down in the few days after his passing. Osheim & Schmidt helped us through, we worked with Jes and she comforted us as we tried to find our way through. She made things so much better for us and she's also very communicative, which was very important to me.
After the service was finished, she even went ahead of us to the reception location and made sure all the flowers were there and everything was in order before we all arrived.

While the whole situation of needing their services was heartbreaking, and I hope it’s a very long time before needing Funeral Home Services again… I wouldn’t think twice before using them again! Buck was such a caring and empathetic individual, who handled our families unique ideas/requests with grace and just exhibited a special ability to bring peace while navigating us through this difficult time. We felt my father’s arrangements went exactly (if not better) than anything we could have dreamed. Not only was he excellent, the other individuals who accompanied him on the day of my father’s funeral were also amazing!

They are caring, empathetic, detailed, and ensure everything is covered while being very professional in all they do. I would like to share that Jess really went above and beyond for us in ensuring all of my dad's arrangements were taken care of. We live out of state and she stepped up, listening to our needs, and offering to assist and provide valuable recommendations. She even made the took care of the ordering of the burial flowers and recommended a florist for me, which helped me by having one less thing to worry about. Jess, and everyone we talked with, are outstanding in caring and customer service.

I really appreciate everything Jess has done. From phone calls and texts, to just checking in to see how we were doing, thank you. Osheim & Schmidt took care of all of the things we needed and I highly recommend using their services.

We could not have asked for anything or anyone better than Osheim Schmidt and Jes Scott when recently the treasure of our family, our dear mother passed . Robert came to hospice house to meet with us In The middle of the night… he was very respectful , caring , and patient…it is very difficult to entrust someone to take your heart away from you,but he did it with professional hands. Jess took it from there , helping us coordinate the service and was invaluable making sure the music ,pictures and our mom’s requests were honored. Also, a huge thank you to Ozzie Osheim who was there for us and our mom . It has been a truly blessed experience ! And we are forever grateful!❤

Our brother's passing was unexpected and complicated since all family members live quite far away from Rapid City. The family engaged Osheim & Schmidt for cremation services and was surprised at the level of voluntary support during this difficult time. Jes Scott, in particular, went the extra mile, going out of her way to assist with paperwork and provide access to services that were unknown to us. She emotionally connected with our family and was genuine in her interest in overcoming the hurdles we faced.

We felt like we had an additional family member on our team and that was a source of comfort as we navigated the intricacies of South Dakota requirements while there for only a limited time.

Jes was knowledgeable and professional right from the beginning of the phone call she received from the hospital. A difficult job for Jes and she does very well. So many questions we had and she easily answered. Always very accommodating and gracious.

Jes at Osheim was there for us when I lost my sister and brother in law 20 days of each other in 2012. Then on September 2, 2023 my Larry died of a heart attack at home. We were married 50 years September 8. He was, and still is the love of my life. Jes was kind and loving and guided me through everything. I don't know what I would have done without her. Our mother recently passed away. From the beginning, everyone at Oshiem and Schmidt was compassionate, professional, and kind in every aspect. And...they listened. We worked with primarily with Buck. They listened to us, learned about our mother, helped us with all of the arrangements and details as they came up, answered our questions (sometimes the same ones more than once), were patient, and outstanding in all regards. They helped make Mom's Life Celebration service a personal, special one with attention to detail and adherence to our wishes and to hers that she had made known to us. Thank you so much.

My siblings and I lost our dad kind of unexpectedly. We had no clue how to plan a funeral or anything else. Buck and Kirk at Oshiem went above and beyond to not only make sure every aspect of my dad’s service was exactly how we wanted it, but also to be support people for us. My dad would have been very pleased with how the service went and I personally felt like the staff at the funeral home genuinely cared about our family. We were able to bring my dad’s motorcycle into the chapel to have during the service, that was really cool! Professional but laid back enough where you don’t feel rushed. amazing from the first time we met him at 3:00 in the morning when he was called to the Hospice House for my Uncle Nick .He was so compassionate towards our family and our loss ,he explained everything to us and was very helpful thru the entire process. My mom passed away right before Christmas. Buck, one of the employees, was absolutely amazing with the details, last minute ideas, and his empathy. He was beyond helpful and explained very well how the process goes step by step. He informed me of any new activity that was taking place, and always answered when I called or texted him. He truly put himself in my shoes during my process and was exceptionally kindhearted. The entire process is not easy, but he made it easy and one less thing I felt I needed to worry about. Him and his team made my mother look beautiful for my young kiddos—which helped them a lot. They all did a wonderful job during a very hard situation. I highly recommend them. When my dad passed, my family didn’t know where to even begin the process to say goodbye. Buck met with us on a Saturday morning, and walked us through everything. He was so genuine and gentle, and put us at ease. He was also so caring with my mother who was in mourning, and was there to lead her and care for her every step of the way.

My wife recently passed away from cancer. A couple of months before she passed we went to Osheim & Schmidt and completely planned and paid for our funerals - both of ours. The staff made us very comfortable with what would seem to be a very morbid and depressing task. It was one of the best moves that we have made in a long time and I recommend it to anybody regardless of their health status.

When the time came, everything was ready except those last minute things that can't be done in advance. They accommodated our every wish and more. Everything came off like clockwork, just the way we planned it.
