Hours are super convenient, staff is always nice and helpful. They accept a lot of stuff for recycling too. The only negatives are the layout of the facility, which would take some investment to fix. When it isn't crowded there you can get in and out easily, but when there are vehicles waiting the setup doesn't always allow room to move your vehicle after trash, to move over to do recycling or other stuff. People frequently don't park allowing others easy access to the recycling or block the path for vehicles. This is only a problem when it's busy though, which isn't that often (at least not when I'm going). Not as safe and easy as the new modern dropoff in Lusby but Barstow is still a very convenient place.
