Rib Shak

A very simple, very delicious BBQ spot. I had the pulled pork sandwich and a side of potatoe salad. The sandwich was excellent! My only complaint is I should of gotten the big size sandwich. The small one was too small and had to order another. That's definitely my fault on that one...Overall a great place! Great service and excellent price!

FINALLY!! Passed this place a while back (closed) and didn’t realize it was in operation. Then 3 and 1/2 weeks ago, I googled Valley Head restaurants and have been trying to get there to try the ribs ever since. We seem to have caught all the closed Saturdays lol, but since hubby was off on a Thursday, we went for lunch today.
The picture doesn’t do justice, those ribs are FINE! Delicious, fall off the bone (literally) juicy, and none of that overly smokey flavor. Perfect! And the pulled pork was the best we have had anywhere in quite a while. Very cute place with friendly staff.
My husband didn’t want me to brag on them too much because since moving to the area, we keep having these great first meals and not so great follow-ups (at other restaurants). He doesn’t want me to jinx it on this spot. We will definitely be back to try the bbq nachos! (And more ribs!!)

Some of the best food is found in the little hole in wall places. This bbq shack is one of those places.

Awesome little gem. Love the tasty ribs, their sweet T is the only tea I have ever liked. The building is clean and cute very welcoming inside. My favorite part of it all is the Bible verses everywhere. She even takes the time to write them on to-go orders! I love that she puts God first. These days you don't see that anymore. Eat here you won't be sorry the prices are very reasonable and the ribs are so tender. My husband's favorite side is the mac-n-cheese its sweet and creamy!

The food is excellent and so is the pricing! Would definitely come back here if passing through. Really enjoyed the ribs and turnip greens.

Super nice folks. Good down home food. The young lady that took our order and served us was friendly, polite, helpful. The food was prepared fresh no fast food here. But it is served quick! Love the old cheerleader uniform on the wall. Fantastic american small town values on display here!

There are few things I like better than a good rack, and Rib Shak's is unmatched. I stopped in for a pulled pork sandwhich and a half rack when driving from Fort Payne to Talladega State Park. First, the sandwich. It was filled with tender pulled pork and pickles, with bbq sauce on the side. I will return to the pork, but I must note the good quality bread used for the sandwhich. All in all, on of the best sandos I've had. Now for the ribs, the meat was incredibly tender, the sauce was rich in flavour, and the portion size was unparalleled. It is cooked in a pit out front of the restaurant and it is evident the grill master is proud of his craft. This is one spot worth making the trip to.

Delicious BBQ and very friendly staff. The experience was wonderful from beginning to end. The best part though was the bible verse that was hand written on the side of my to-go bag. In these trying times, we need to spread more of Jesus's love just like how these guys are doing! God bless you!

Excellent as always!! From the Soul Taco to a Rack of ribs, doesn’t matter it’s always good. Baked beans and Mac and Cheese is a must.

My husband and I were visiting this area from Florida. The last day we were there it was pouring down rain and we didn't know where to go for lunch. We passed this cute bbq place and decided to give it a try. This place deserves 5 stars. From being greeted outside to the level of service we received at the counter this place is great. The food was exceptional. Very happy with our visit to this restaurant! When we visit again this will be our go to place for lunch :) Thanks to the Rib Shak team for making our visit pleasant. 5 Stars all the way :)

Possibly the best ribs I have ever eaten. The owner who is also the cook I think takes pride in his restaurant and finished product and it shows. Very polite and accommodating staff on hand. They took the time to hand write(in very spectacular detail) scripture from the Bible that helped remind me to take the time to appreciate what God has given us. Over all a wonderful place. Will return when back in Mentone.

Staff is super friendly. The chef may have been the owner- on our way out he made sure we were happy and was very genuine in saying have a nice day. That was my first impression of Alabama. They wrote uplifting Scripture verses on the to go boxes which I thought was unique and cool. And the fried tomatoes are fire!

I drive a truck for a living and it's hard to find good places to eat but I hit the jackpot here. I stopped in unfortunately just after they had closed. But the nice little girl at the front door and the big fella in the back that does the cooking said we can't turn nobody away hungry and made me quite possibly the best pulled pork sandwich I've ever had in my life and I've had a few. Great big sandwich, big glass of sweet tea to go and I was on my way. Oh and it was only $6. Hope to be back when I can catch him open so I could sample the rest of the good stuff they've got on the menu. And the best thing was when I walked out the door everybody said you have a blessed day now. What a wonderful place.

This was really good. Being first time customers, we didn't know the hours and got there at closing time. However, they were nice enough to take our order and let us dine in. The smoked chicken and BBQ sandwich were excellent. Sides were also good. They also made my little boy's birthday a little more special for him. Friendly folks and good food, which is just how I like it.

Excellent BBQ. They had food for them entire family from ribs to chicken to pork nachos and burgers!
