I had to be admitted here at Riverside and I have to say it was a very good experience. I got a lot out of it so much I decided to stay for outpatient. I think the staff we're amazing and food was even good.

I would recommend. Was treated with care and respect. Staff was competent and efficient. Very clean and as comfortable as possible for as safe as it has to be. Was there for 4 days and would definitely go back if I needed services again.

Our 17 year old daughter was admitted to the residential program here in 2014. As she had done poorly after treatment in other residential programs, I had very limited expectations about her outcome.

She received excellent care at Riverside in all respects. I am convinced that her successful treatment at Riverside saved her life. We remain very grateful to the management and staff at Riverside.

Was there for ten days and the staff was excellent to me, they provided the care and support i needed. Staff that I dealt with was very friendly especially Bernard and the other staff members (sorry too many names to remember) in the adult care unit. Dr. Karpov took his time with me and very thorough and my medication and how it was working. Also, the food was very good, especially compared to prison or the state mental health. So if you don't like Riverside please give Eastern State or North Virginia Mental Institute a try and you will appreciate Riverside. Also, David for physical activities and Cassandra for art therapy rocked!

My daughter has been at Riverside since 6/12/19 and will probably remain there for another 4-6 months. Just in the few months that she has been there we have seen a remarkable improvement in the way she deals with her anxiety, communicates with peers, communicates with family and her aggressive behaviors that she was experiencing at home. She was in residential previously at another facility and unfortunately we took her home with the same behaviors. My daughter has Autism but is extremely high functioning and very verbal. Her therapist Donna Jackson has been phenomenal as has her whole team to include her residential staff, the nurses, doctors, all the therapists with the different therapies she receives, and Ann the program director. I can go to sleep and not have to worry that my child is not being cared for adequately. We were hesitant to place her here at first due to the reviews but our experience has been amazing so far. We all need to post the positive experiences as well so that families can get a better understanding of how the children are doing! Thank you Riverside staff for all your hard work!!!

the worst hospital, my brother was there last year and he was suffering from a mental illness called Schizophrenia he was in that hospital then they were going to take him to another hospital. So they put the police on my brother so they could get him out of there and my brother was asking the police for the phone and my brother forced the police to give him the phone and that's why the police filed a lawsuit against that, it's not fair because my brother He was not mentally well. I think that what the police did against my brother is called racism. we are suffering a lot and he is still recovering from that illness.

I was reading all the reviews on Riverside, that was called Peninsula hospital when I was admitted. I was admitted May 1986, and I have to say, looking back at it all. I hated it, I was always freaking out being inside there, and I was constantly fighting with the staff over petty things I suppose. However, this place saved my life. Period. I would have not have had the life I had if it wasn't for the hard work of the staff, and doctors that looked after me. It's heartbreaking that I see a lot of negative reviews, and only tells me one of two things. The place has gone downhill in a horrible way, or people are not working the program. I am still working the program after all these years. (not drugs or alcohol) The big thing I really learned? That just because you say you're fighting doesn't mean you are. It's an uphill battle for life.

Amazing place to work. The outpatient addiction department has a team that includes organization, communication, and always has the patients best interest in mind.

I have been to RBHC while lucid and not so lucid. I was in ITP West during both stays. RBHC HELPS IF YOU WANT IT TO. I can not stress this enough. I received resources and life skills I needed to be a functional human outside of the facility. The staff is FRIENDLY , consistent, caring, and honest. They listen, protect you, and I appreciate the staff FOR SURE during my stay.
Without the professionals in this building, I wouldn't have made it, and I will forever be thankful. I was put on the proper medications because of RBCH. Classes and recreational times are very consistent, and I loved being able to have music during some points of the day. The cleaning lady came every day ,so my bathroom was always nice. The food is honestly NOT BAD. My fiance was kept very up to date and was able to visit every day once I was stable ! My biggest complaint is that the unit is male and female. I recommend RBHC for psychiatric care 9/10.

I was a patient here from November 2002-August 2003 on the Children’s unit when I was 11-12 years old. The food was great. Most of the staff were nice but there was a few staff members who had horrible attitudes for no reason (yes I will say that as a now 27 year old man). Other than that it was good place, plus they had school in there for the children and adolescent units.

I first came here when I was 17 I was in the kids ward they were nice an food was pretty good. Then I came back when I was 18 to 20 years old the adult ward wasn't bad could clean the rooms a bit. I'm kinda shock to see the reviews on here but I guess things can change from three years ago. I didn't need the medicine I needed God that was my real cure.
