Taste of Smithfield Restaurant

We had a very nice dinner here. Wanted to bring an out of town guest to try Virginia Ham. Did not disappoint. Service was awesome! Meal was delicious. I was surprised by the great Bourbon selection.

My wife and I will definitely return to try more of the menu! We had the sweet potato biscuits and the cheese steak. Both are highly recommended! The service was great, and it was fun to sit outside and eat while doing some people watching.

My wife and I visit this restaurant every Fall when we spend time in Williamsburg. This time we ate there twice in a week which requires taking the ferry to get there. The Ham Melt is off the charts for lunch. Don't over complicate things. Good soups and smoked pork dishes and salads. Maggie is the best bartender, informative with a great sense of humor. Do yourself a favor and sit at the bar.

Stopped in on a Tuesday night for bite after a long day. The host seated us quickly with a friendly greeting. The server was friendly and humorous serving us quickly and checking on us several times. I ordered the Southern Pork Gent, a thick cut pork chop that was tender and juicy and served on a roll. Perfect.

I will definitely be back here when we wonder off in the area! Yummy food and excellent service from Lilly. Never been a great fan of Bloody Mary until today. Their’s is my basis of taste in every place my husband order for one in the future, they’ve got the best of all.

The place was crowded. Be patient, you will seated. And you didn’t waste your time, waiting.

I stopped in today for lunch with my daughter, son-in-law, and grandkids. It's a local hotspot for food so I knew I wouldn't be disappointed. Everybody had something different in everyone enjoyed their food. Our waitress was Maggie and she was very delightful, efficient and good with the kids. Kids. We will definitely come here again and recommend this place to everyone.

So good. I'm gonna be craving this Cuban for days.
Sandwiches were both super well-constructed. Collards were sweeter than I'm used to, but they were still good. Prices were very reasonable, I would have gladly paid more for this meal too.

Reuben sandwich for one sister and clubs for the other and I. The club sandwiches had ham and turkey and bacon. They were thick and delicious. My coffee was nice and strong. Oh I almost forgot the star of the plates were the sweet potato fries, how many ways can you say delicious!

We came to dine tonight, which was the evening of the Mistletoe Market and we're so impressed with the service of every staff member on such a busy night. Each team member seemed to have smile on his other face and displayed such patience. I applaude the manager for working with his employees to ensure a smooth evening. The food was amazing as always and the server was very kind to our children. I will definitely be back and recommend.

This was not my first visit and it won't be my last. I have had breakfast and lunch here a few times. Pork. If that's in your vocabulary you'll like Taste of Smithfield. The club sandwich with Smithfield ham became on of my favorites today. Excellent service and atmosphere, I highly recommend it.

nice clean restaurant in an historic area . staff members are nice. Food was delicious. When you think of Smithfield you think of pork because of the pork plant Smithfield minutes down the road.Their menu have alot of pork favorites also. The prices are reasonable also. I had the chicken tacos with sweet potato bites,my wife had the blackened chicken breast sandwich with twisted fries, mother in law had the fried chicken breast sandwich with butter beans and my son had the fried chicken breast sandwich with twisted fries. They all was good dishes and also had the smoked parmesan garlic wings. The restaurant also has a lil store that you can purchase t-shirts peanuts and etc.

Prices may be a bit high for some plates; inflation has taken its toll everywhere. The pork barbecue sandwich topped with slaw and served with one side cost $13 as of this review. Luckily, both my sandwich and side of sweet potato fries were quite tasty and filling. I ultimately decided to give this restaurant 5 stars based on the service. One server actually covered down on our designated server, Luke, while he retrieved some supplies. Luke then picked up server duties, and demonstrated some of the best table manners I've ever encountered. Nicely done.

I'm going to be honest... I hate pickles with a passion... However, this place makes pickle fries in a way that tastes extremely good. Nice flavor and spice to them. Great place to eat. First time going and it didn't disappoint. Friendly and inviting atmosphere. Great stop in for after church services.

My husband got the fried pork chops white mac n chees. I got the special bacon wrapped pork tender loin stuffed with a creamed spinach on a bed of bacon grits.

We came here for dinner. The meal was delicious! I had the fried porkchops with Mac and cheese. I throughly enjoyed it. It was a tad expensive in my opinion, but tasted great. The ambience of the restaurant was perfect and service was great. 5 stars. Would recommend!!

Stopped on my way back home. Extremely delicious food. Will be back with my family despite it being an hour away.

Adding to this review since I can’t post another. I took the family this last week and we thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Absolutely delicious and the service was fantastic!

One of Smithfield’s delightful restaurants open 11 to 2:30 for lunch and reopens at 4:30 for dinner. The mojo pork taco was delicious and my husband said the grilled chicken Caesar salad was excellent. Their entrees sounded very good so we will have to go back for dinner.

Downtown Smithfield has many quaint shops. The Christmas shop is particularly nice. They also have a farmers market on Saturday morning with a variety of vendors. The fresh produce is excellent.

Four adults and one child on this trip. Wait staff was very attentive and the food was delicious with a good selection of items. I recommend and look forward to eating here again.

Taste of Smithfield is the genuine article—so dependable over the years that I am amazed I haven’t reviewed it before. How many restaurants nowadays actually make all their own dishes from scratch? And always successfully?

The Coronavirus has reshaped Taste of Smithfield: it was always scrupulously clean and shiny, but now it is scrupulously socially distanced as well, so the racks of gifts and nuts and things are no longer edging their way through the dining areas. The building was always a spacious one, and I find the restored vistas refreshing. Real restaurants suffer when they are part grocery stores . . . .

Taste of Smithfield has always been user-friendly. Whether you wish to sit at a comfortable counter and join a small Smithfield community, or share a comfortable table with friends you have already met, you can count on alert and courteous waiters and meticulous chefs to guarantee you enjoy your meal! The waiter I had today was a sterling example of what I have always found at Taste of Smithfield: although he has not been working there long, he seems completely invested in the restaurant and impressed as one should be with the quality of the food he is serving. Even the photograph I took of him as he was—almost running out of the kitchen area in his attentiveness to see what I wanted next, was impressive. His name, I learned, is Nick Paraskevas, and I was glad that I had visited in a quiet period so that we could chat a little without interrupting the flow of commerce—I did want to be sure he would not mind being mentioned in the review I knew I would be writing!

It happens that Smithfield welcomes many elderly visitors such as myself to dine at its splendid tables, and Taste of Smithfield has always offered meals for appetites large and small—my favorite for lunch is the soup and sandwich, which offers wide variety at a VERY modest price. Today I chose a Country Ham sandwich on toasted rye with a (generous) cup of their excellent Tomato Basil soup, and it was all so delicious I finished with their own Ice Cream Sandwich dessert. Honestly I am glad I did—I should have photographed it for you, but I was too busy enjoying it—right down to the vanilla in the ice cream! Come on down—you can’t go wrong! Bring someone you love!

The Wait was a long time,(1 hour), 3 wonderful glasses of ice cold lemonade, then it dawn on me, Mother's Day weekend:) Prom weekend, dresses and dates and worried Moms came in . Grandmother's, mom's and daughter's with the tiniest baby's girls came in stroller. What a marvelous time. When food came I was pass hungery..
