Driving up from Seattle to this lovely bookstore is one of my favorite ways to spend a Saturday and has been for years. Classic / old school bookstore; all books half off cover price (even if that cover price is $4 from 1980). Old books, new books, rare books to browse while you hear the ocean lap at the adjacent dock. William James Bookselller is a true gem. Love love love.

I love this bookstore. I'm from Port Townsend, so I visit the area often. I can easily spend hours browsing through the stacks of books. I always find something to buy.

Family took a little Christmas Break vacation to the Peninsula. I spent over an hour at this bookstore while they walked around looking at the other shops...this place is fabulous, and decent used book prices too.

This is my wife’s favorite bookstore in the world. It’s beautiful, old, with nooks and crannies filled with books of every genre! They have a particularly strong local and regional history section! We love visiting William James!

William James Bookseller has been the best bookstore in Port Townsend for years. And with their new renovations, they have opened an entirely new area. They sell new and second-hand books and the selection is superb, whatever books you like to read. This meticulously curated collection of books is sure to entice you with with a novel or a nonfiction book about a subject that you never even through about before. I've never walked out of William James Bookseller without a new book under my arm. On top of this, the store is extremely atmospheric. You feel like you are in a magical space. I can't recommend this store enough. If you are in Port Townsend and like books, you have to go here.

This is a great bookstore with a fantastic selection. They have an area with a couple of table and chairs to sit down and enjoy a good book. This store is right off the main strip in Port Townsend and it really feels like you are in a completely different world when you enter this store. Definitely recommended.

Paul and his staff are professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. William James's selection is fascinating and well-priced. I've been going there for books over the past 22 years and look forward to another 22 years of shopping at William James Bookseller.

Outstanding selection of new and used books all for amazing prices! Didn't think about the fact that it was Sunday when we walked in but was still able to purchase a few interesting finds before they closed. Will be going back soon for sure!

Amazing experience. Found a extremely rare collection of Proust and wanted to buy on the spot. However, I experienced hesitation of purchase at the time. I regretted said hesitation once I returned home. Unfortunately, I was over 100 miles away at time of regret.

Emailed owner, Paul Stafford, after searching inventory on his website. Literally two days later, after purchase, the package arrived.

The store is warm and inviting and the customer service is top notch.

Very good selection in a wide variety of topics at reasonable prices. A bibliophile can while away a pleasant hour here with no trouble. Better yet, there’s plenty of strategically located seats upon which to sit and browse to your heart’s content.

Book store of the type that is all too hard to find these days. Wide selection; well-organized. Sections clearly labeled. Particularly strong in local history and maritime literature. Helpful staff. Easy to lose a couple of well-spent hours browsing.

Great small town independent bookstore. New and used. Excellent math/science selection.

Good selection. Would recommend for tourists, but their stock doesn't very often so locals may have to wait a few weeks for new items to appear.
