What a surprise to find a perfectly perfect Italian restaurant in the most unlikely cubby town of Coupeville, WA on Whidbey Island, N West of Seattle. My favorite meal on earth is spaghetti and meat balls. How hard can it be to find a truly good plate of them? Hard! I will pass on a wagyu steak in favor of a meatball in a heartbeat, any day of the week. While a good meatball isn’t “that” difficult to find, good perfectly cooked pasta IS difficult to find, even at the best restaurants I’ve been to coast to coast and in Europe. So it’s almost a game with me to keep up the expectation that an Italian restaurant can be expected to serve good pasta and believe me “Ciao” came through in spades. The sauce was perfectly balanced with the pasta, which wasn’t gooey, overcooked or pasty tasting. It tasted like my own homemade pasta that I labor over all day. The meatball was outstanding with even consistency and flavor that made my mouth water for more. The sauce…. Perfect.
We also ordered the homemade flatbread with olive dip. Did I already use the word outstanding?
After traveling through Coupeville and staying there on many occasions, I have no idea how we passed this restaurant on Main Street so many times. Maybe I was looking straight ahead at the water. But finding this restaurant with such a wonderful menu, wine list, staff and Chris the bartender has made me a fan for life.
Parking is practically outside the front door.
Check out the homemade pastas for sale and their excellent wine selection. It’s difficult to find an interesting Chianti but they have a nice one on the shelf. Even Hannibal Lecter would be impressed.
I’ll be trying their Italian sandwich tomorrow for lunch.
Like my review if it helped. It encourages me to keep writing about these small home grown out of the way restaurants I run into on my way across the states.

Been here a couple times. Food is great! Go on a nice day and sit out front, or upstairs on the deck for a great view. Meatball sandwich is a go. Crystal is a rock star and will take care of you!

Yummy italian restaurant on the island! They went out of their way to accommodate the vegan in our party making modifications to the dishes on the menu. Their lasagnas and coop pink are delicious. It is a bit on a pricey side, but the quality is very good. And the view of the bay from the top floor is amazing!

I went in on Tuesday December 5th and was recommended a great beer 🍺 I also had a pesto pizza for lunch that was really good and filling! Would recommended 👌 and I'll be back again for sure!

From the moment you walk in the door, we were greeted hello and acknowledged with smiles. We walked our way upstairs and had a nice view of Coupeville with the water in the background. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. We both ordered pizza and had cheese cake for dessert. Absolutely delicious wood fired. Will be back again to try other items.

Very cute restaurant, was sat upstairs in the patio as requested, and the view was nice. Workers were friendly and answered our questions about the food kindly. The food was extremely delicious, tried the shrimp scampi pasta and their special pasta topped with roasted pig, red onions, bbq sauce, and a variety of cheese. We also served wine, I appreciated the male server asking us if it was flat since he didn't see bubbles when he poured the drink and got us new ones. Our server gave us great tips about her favorite items on the menu. It was an overall satisfying experience, we will definitely be back!

Oh my goodness!! This place is AMAZING!! I am not a wine drinker, but our waitress listened to what we wanted and brought us this bottle! 😘 The food is to die for!! We were greeted by the owner, the staff truly made us feel welcomed and just a true pleasure to dine here.

We were debating between this Italian spot and another in coupville that we had tried prior. All I can say is wow! The food was delicious, we had the gnocchi, shrimp scampi and the Tuscan pizza. All were absolutely amazing as was the Gelato afterwards. Our server was hysterical and a ton of fun! (And on top of refills and everything else!)

The only ding I could give Ciao is that there are no diaper changing stations for babies. We came with our 1 year old and had to go change her in the car. Otherwise, 10/10. Will be back!

Had a fantastic experience here! Had the Mezza Plate and the Lebanese Rotisserie Chicken were delicious. They were a perfect meal for two (it looked like a lot but ended up not being a heavy meal). Also really appreciated talking with owners and hearing how passionate they are about where and how they source their foods and wine. There was quality food, fantastic staff, and also had a great view! Definitely would recommend!

WOW this has to be the best Italian food I have ever had. In fact it was so good I went back the next day with my girlfriend. The moment you walk in you feel like your walking into an Italian grandmas house the scent of fresh pasta being cooked hits your nose.

We were looking for a place to grab lunch, and were glad to find Ciao. The food is excellent. The service was fast and friendly. We enjoyed meeting and talking with some of the local residents.

What a gift for this town. Everyone was so friendly and proud of what they created. The atmosphere felt like Italy and the food took you there. Excellent drinks from the bar.

Weekend getaway to the island and we're very happy with this find. We had lunch there, 2 kids meal and 2 entree's. Service was great, the staff were all very friendly, the food came quickly and was delicious with a decent portion.
We sat on the second floor balcony and had a great view of the water. Oh, the gelato was great too and the kids loved it!

Highly recommended for anyone craving some Italian food with a nice ambiance.

This place is such a Gem, Marka Las(the owner) was the nicest and very inviting person I've met since visiting from Missouri. He walked us through his store while giving a little history on every item in his store.A young lady that helped us with the wine selection thank you we thought it was delicious. The food was lick your plate good mmm...yum.. yumwe supre nice people

Spending the day on the island with our dog, and so happy to have found this spot for lunch. Good food, great service, and they were so kind to our pup—even brought him a couple bowls of ice water. We would definitely visit again!

Authentic Italian food. With GF pizza crust options. Out of the 6 of us all loved their meals. Fresh pasta made in house and cold Italian beer lovely table outside and staff was very friendly and informative.

What did we do to deserve such an amazing local restaurant? I was really impressed with all their dishes, and loved that I could eat here with their many gluten free options. I had their prosciutto and arugula pizza, it was next level perfection.

Ciao is truly authentic and delicious! I want to try everything on the menu but sometimes I can't help but order my favorite eggplant sandwich (so unique and yummy!). Every single thing is wonderful, wholesome, delicious and real. The staff is great, the dining is great, food is amazing... the best I've had outside of Italy where I have lived.

The absolute best fettuccine I've ever had. Like heaven in in your mouth. Everything else was fantastic too, from the ravioli to the pizza to the wine. They get an A+!

First I want to say that food we ordered is very delicious. You won’t be disappointed. I ordered the osso bucco and and it’s cook to perfection. Really, the pork really melts in your mouth. 👌👍👍👍👍👍. Highly recommended.
