This place is located in Whidbey Island, WA. You can either reach there by taking a short ferry from Seattle or by road from Burlington. Amazing views, beach side walks, or even could go for hike.

Ebey’s Landing Bluff Trail is a hidden gem for hikers and nature lovers.

What really sets Ebey's Landing apart are the breathtaking views of the Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains. The combination of coastal bluffs, rolling fields, and historical farms creates a picturesque backdrop that’s hard to beat. It's an ideal spot for photography enthusiasts or anyone looking to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

The trail is also steeped in history, giving you a glimpse into the region's past. It’s a great way to combine outdoor activity with a bit of education.

It is the first and the only American National Historical Reserve located near Coupeville county on Whidbey Island in the Puget Sound, Washington. Spread over 17,572 acres, it was named after intrepid Colonel Isaac N Ebey (1818- 1857), who became the first permanent settler at this beautiful Island Prairie. Coming from Missouri in search of land, he was struck by its beauty, location and abundance of resources.
The landing stretches about three miles in the gulf across Port Townsend in the deep waters of Puget Sound. An ascending gradient (21 floors on my phone) from the landing leads to a huge farmland prairie. The landing was a perfect spot for ships and adventurers looking to enterprise and trade throughout the island. The place is naturally replete with fascinating stories.
Issac Ebey, a Colonel with the then US Customs, upon discovering, loved it so much (he called it ‘paradise of nature’) that he exhorted his parents and family to permanently settle there. They did in 1851. Alas, it proved short lived. On 11 August 1857, he was tragically slained by ravaging northern coastal Indians who, out on a vengeance, mistook him to be killer of one of their chieftans.
Till this day, Colonel Ebey’s house and blockhouse (a wooden fortification) stay preserved by the local trust board. In that, it has saved the grandeur from modern commercial plunder. The sedate beauty and the magic of the place is really transfixing, as time seems to sit still atop the hill and the prairie.

Awesome Winter beach to catch the Southwest facing sunsets. There is a pretty well maintained outhouse here. Discovery pass needed to park in the lot. The beach goes on for a LONG time along Hill Street and also north to the State Park. The images were taken late January

Great walk/hike!! Can walk on the sand next to the water or up above looking down. Bring the whole family (strollers work as well) to see the stunning views of the ocean, Canada in the distance on one side and beautiful patchwork quilt farmland on the other. Bathrooms available. Pack a picnic and enjoy the smell of the sea when you your done.

This place was so incredibly beautiful. A 5 mile hike, with a beach at the end of the trail to walk down too. We ended up walking along the beach to get back up to the other side, and back up to our parking spot which was shorter to go this way then the way we came. The ledge is pretty narrow, and I do not recommend this hike for smaller children, for there are no safety rails. Recommend hiking in sunny conditions and not when it is windy or raining out. Happy with this hike, so worth it.

Whidbey Island has so many different environments to visit. If you are looking for wide open views of the Sound this is the place to come. There are two entrances on opposite ends of the bluff with limited parking that require the Discovery pass that is sold onsite. You can also park on the road without the pass.

The trail goes above and follows the bluff and loops onto the beach. The beach is very rocky so if you do not like that type of workout on your ankles, knees, and hips simply turn back up the bluff and return the way you came.

There are several spots to stop and admire the changing scenery, watch the various types of foul and other critters in the adjacent forest. There are some spots under the trees if you need shade or shelter. When we visited it was a perfect sunny 60⁰ F with a slight breeze. Simply perfect.

There is a restroom and small trashcan at the lower parking lot. Please be considerate and pack out as much as you can. Overflowing trash cans lead to animals eating plastic and killing them.

This place is such a vibe. Looks like somewhere straight out of a movie. Must stop by if you have a chance.

Great hike for parents and tweens or teens. Hiking along the bluff took 50 minutes for our family of three. A bit longer to return along the beach because we stopped for tide pools of starfish, sea anemones and hermit crabs.

Beautiful hike and beautiful views. An amazing sunset and you can do it with a relatively short hike (30 minutes or so). You can also do a longer hike if you’d like.

There is space at the bottom to enjoy the beach and views while grabbing a bite.

Overall, a beautiful park.

Dreamy place, as I like to say ,,Heaven on Earth” this place is definitely sth special.
It’s very easy hike ( 4 year olds can do it with no problem). The most amazing thing is that on every level you find something beautiful ( from views of the ocean to mountains and birds… a lot of birds and flowers) we saw eagles flying above our heads!!!
In second part of the hike you walk on beautiful beach( my kids always look for special rocks)
I recommend this place for everyone who needs some space😉 in life! You will definitely find it here!
Parking is not bad but during weekends it can be packed!

Never been on a hike loop where I could see most of the loop the whole time! Incredible views of PNW beauty -- ocean, beach, sky, mountains ... container ships ... Puget Sound in all its glory. Deceptive -- it's much longer hike than it appears and the hike up the bluff from the parking lot is significant, but once you're up there you enjoy the panorama as the path gently rolls along, sandy and soft enough to walk barefoot really.

If you want a beach with nothing but large drift wood, this is the place to go. No amenities except an old vault toliet and a parking lot for about a dozen vehicles. There is a bluff walk/trail that puts you high above the salt water with even better views of the Olympic Mountains. One old picnic table.

Great small secluded trail. Perfect for a stroll. If you have time you should see the sunset here. You don't need to pay the state park fee if you park on the road. Good location for some of those helix drone shots

What a beautiful, not too strenuous hike! Incredible views for the entire duration of the trail, plus it's all out in the open which means tons of time to soak up some sun. One of the more interesting loops I've done, half being along a beach. Perfect for a sunny day and getting away from the city.

Can't recommend this hike enough for less experienced "hikers". Specific hiking equipment is most definitely not needed.

If you want to hike, the gps address is 162 Cemetary Rd, Coupeville. There are two options for hiking - Bluff trail which is a 5 mile loop with steep incline and breathtaking views. The alternate option is Ridge trail which is about 1.5-2 miles and relatively flat. It also offers you nice views of the lake and walk through the woods. I’d recommend this place if you are visiting Whidbey island. There is also a scenic overlook with benches and great history if you are not in a mood to hike. Note: There are no restrooms and the visitor center was closed on weekend.

Breathtaking spot, right by some beautiful green fields of grass and next to a body of water - could not get better than this. Nice walk uphill for incredible views. This is also a great place to have a picnic and really take it some fresh air and be in the moment and enjoy the view.

My friends and I came in early Wednesday morning and it was not so crowded. This attraction has beautiful landscapes and scenery. I highly recommended going here to relax, chill, and immerse yourself in the fantastic nature. It would help if you were expected to walk short distances (1-2 miles) to see the landscape. There are two ways to view the scene - one through a small road to the beach and another one to the upper hill.

Nice please to take mid-range hike with the whole family. Our 8 and 5 boys handle it pretty smoothly. Nice Puget view as well. Absolutely amazing nature view as well, especially on top of the hill.
