Passing this mom & pop for the past 3 years off Hwy 9 in Black Mountain. It is rustic and doesn't look like much, but do yourself a favor and STOP HERE!!! The driveway is a little rough and needs grading, but you will be so happy you went. The view and ambiance are totally worth it! Get your favorite beer or adult beverage at the bar inside or the walk-up window. Live bands on Thurs- Sun. There's a schedule on the wall. We ordered a classic burger and their special burger, which was the Bacon & Swiss. The gun was nicely toasted, bacon crispy & hot. There was a Pico and Avocado with crispy lettuce, JalapeƱos and not so thick Swiss, which is attention to detail as it changes flavor if it's too thick. The meat was local Hickory Nut Gap, and it was not overseasoned. It was cooked perfectly. I wasn't that hungry, but I was NOT leaving a piece of this burger behind. It's a large burger well.worth the money. The fries were fragrant and crispy with a Cajun seasoning. The classic cheeseburger had the same phenomenal patty with crispy lettuce, tomato, and onion but a special sauce that I literally liked off my fingers. New favorite place for burgers!!! Clean place. Nice friendly staff. Thank you, and we WILL SEE YOU SOON!!!

Such a great place! Only a handful of miles outside of Black Mountain over the continental divide but it feels like a hundred miles away in the country. It's such an easy drive.

A nice little stage - Shaggy and Susie were playing and they're fantastic!

Grab a table outside and order at the bar inside. I've eaten my fair share of nachos, but I don't think I've ever had them with fried chicken strips. So, so good.

Great beer selection, friendly service, wonderful music and unbeatable atmosphere.

I had the heart bowl and my wife had the shrimp and grits. Both of us had the sangria. The food and drink were great. Music was nice.

Delicious pub food prepared uniquely. We spotted the place on a drive down Hwy 9 toward Black Mountain and made a point to have lunch there on the following day (a Friday). Not disappointed.

Great food, great people, great location. Relax and enjoy yourself at the Straightaway- often there's local live music, bring your dog, indoor and outdoor seating, great service and an all around good time. Fantastic burgers, good beer and wine selection. Your stress level lowers several degrees just pulling in!

Such a fun original spot! Each staff member I encountered took the time to make thoughtful suggestions and were all very friendly. The food and drinks are great too!
This time we just came for Buffalo cauliflower, fries and a beer and it was absolutely perfect.
The atmosphere is fun and peaceful.

Just came back after they reopened in April. Food is really good. Some healthy options added to the mix. Friday thru Sunday only for now. New brighter decor.

Quality food. Beautiful porches to enjoy the views. Run by great people.Great beer selection.

Such a gem in the outskirts of town. Great live music and local draft beer selection. There was outside porch covered seating and indoor options but if you’re headed here their outside deck not only has views but is well spaced and very inviting. Fun rustic checkered painted long tables outside parallel the main building as the deck expands over the side of the hill. With Covid in full swing their was a limited menu but what they had was great and very tasty. All the staff were friendly and wore masks and the place was very clean. We chatted with others who were there from across the deck as the evening wore on in between the sets of music. Worth the drive to have a neat eclectic experience in the mountains off of route 9.
****updated 9/8*** we took a drive down that way with our visiting friend and of course we knew it would be busy from the Labor Day holiday but the visit was a bit disappointing. The service team and kitchen seemed overwhelmed and the end result with the food was way under par. There wasn’t just one issue but multiple. Would I say not to go here now because of this... no it’s still a great spot but if they are busy it might be best to get something simple like a basket of fries and stick to drinks. We will update the next time we go.

The shrimp and grits were 🤯. Generous portion, beautifully seasoned.. felt like I was sitting at my Cajun grandmamma’s (if I had one) dining table ! What a find!

I finally got to visit. Their hours are limited because thanks to government handouts they are having serious staffing issues. The staff worked as a team and made sure customers were taken care of.

I ordered a cheeseburger and fries. The burger was really good! Just a note, the beer menu and the chalkboard beer menu are different. I ordered a beer off the printed menu based on what was there and later saw the chalkboard menu with several beers I like better. 😕

Will be back and tipped the staff extra.

Stopped by for the first time today and was so happy I did. Simple but delicious food, the kindness and welcoming energy is unmistakable. They do live music and have a bonfire pit and a dog named Lucy. Absolutely an appalachian energy you can’t manufacture. My daughter chased frogs and i had a beer. Everyone was kind and i felt at home. I will ABSOLUTELY BE BACK.

This is a great spot to grab a burger while you're out on a Sunday drive! Or any day actually. It's a long-standing pit stop for motorcycles out cruising route 9, and the addition of the stage has made it a destination on weekend evenings. Don't just drive by!

This is a gem! We were looking for a place to relax outside for food and soak in the views. This was the perfect find! A big deck is available that overlooks the mountains. Delicious food and friendly service!

Lucky find after shopping at Painter's Nursery. Stopped in for some lunch, and "oh my".
The staff was friendly and helpful. Took their suggestions and the food was quick and tasty.
Enjoyed a beer and cider, too.
A couple of local guys were playing live music making for a perfect setting on the outdoor porch.
This wonderful gem place has been added to our place of must goes, especially with our of town friends to enjoy the area.

My husband and I passed by this place several times on our vacation and decided to stop in today after a long hike. We were so glad we did. The food was excellent and the service was friendly and very helpful. I ordered the black bean burger with potato salad and it was amazing. My husband ordered the double burger and fries and loved his just as much. They are dog friendly and even have a dog patty on the menu. We also ordered dessert which was a brownie with what tasted like homemade ice cream. The perfect treat after a day spent climbing a mountain!! We would definitely eat there again.
