Cool place! Lots of history and cool buildings, the employee that helped us was very nice. Cool place to wander around and learn things from. There was no wait and got a pamphlet talking about all the different houses and buildings.

I'd suggest this place to everyone. There is so much to see here and learn about Montana history.

If you are in the area, make sure you take time to visit the Nevada City Museum.

What a great experience!! The condition of the buildings and of each of the exhibits will surprise you. It's easy to immerse yourself into the history, and there weren't many visitors, so the ghost town was literally a ghost town, and you visit each exhibit at your own pace. Restrooms are cleverly disguised as old buildings if the times. The staff is very nice. There are a couple operating musical organs in the music hall worth the 50 cents or dollar to operate them. Bring quarters!

Fantastic place to learn about Montana history where everyone in the family from young to young at heart will be entertained and learn something new! Staff was amazing friendly and knowledgeable about the area and history! The living history staff made this stop not only educational but enjoyable as well! Recommend buying the tickets in advance if you want to ride the train from Nevada City to Virginia City as the would all sold out the day we were there but that is the only thing needed to bought before you go!

Very well preserved pieces of history here. Your first experience will be the room full of old organs and Hurdy Gurdy machines. If you want to make a trip back in time just stand in this room for several minutes and you will be there. The rest seems to be a miners camp ... There is a beautiful, large period mansion in the middle of the camp furnished to period as if the owners left it and went . This alone is worth the trip to see. Apart from this, don't be surprised if you get a little anxiety ... If there is such a thing as a ghost then you will definitely find one here.

The town was shut down for the season. We arrived mid November. This town is absolutely beautiful. The history is amazing, and I couldn't believe how many movies were filmed here. I can't wait to get back when everything is open.

You can just walk through town along with Virginia City. Plenty to see. Go eat in Ennis afterwards.

A nice surprise in Nevada City! A recreated town with actors that portray pioneers in the area on the weekends. I got scolded by the lady operating the rooming house because I refused to take a bath every week! A fun place to go and take the family. There is a large room full of old musical amusements some of which you can feed quarters to play. Not to be missed if you're a story and enjoy pioneer living.

A real step back in time. Lots of old building full ot lots of old stuff to explore. On the weekends volunteers are there as living history, which really adds to the whole thing. A great place to visit.

Was great to visit. The lady that was spinning wool was amazing. Would go again to bring her dogs-bane to make bow string and thread

The music machines are pretty cool. Some of them still work, and you can play them by putting in a couple of quarters. After the music hall, you go out into the Living History museum. There are several buildings open for you to look in. Most have plexiglass or other barriers to protect the artifacts, but there are a few buildings you can go inside. The cost is $10 for adults (ages 12-64), and $8 for kids and seniors or groups of 6 or more. Anyone 3 and younger is free. Weekend prices are $2 more per person because the Living History volunteers are there. I think it's worth it to wait for a weekend. The volunteers are really knowledgeable and will tell or show you all about how it was to live in 1865, and about their particular skill/craft (cobbler, blacksmith, tinsmith, etc.). There are usually children there too. They will teach you some common kids' games.

The buildings are amazing! It's sad to see some are in such a poor state though. Definitely worth the $10 to walk through the huge area though, especially if it helps maintain some of the buildings, carriages, wagons, & other history they have there. On the weekends they have living history weekends with people reenacting the time period!

Such a great slice of history. Took the teenagers out to explore and had a great time looking about at the history of Virginia City and her sister city Nevada city. On the weekends there are docents that re-create the "simpler times". They ate full of information and super knowledgeable. Definitely worth visiting before driving into Virginia City.
