Joy of Books

I love finding hardback copies of my favorite books, and this shop has a great collection. Leaving with three classics for $20 is a great day! Staff is very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable.

The staff were so friendly and graciously offered to hold one of the books I picked out while I continued to shop. We had a nice chat during check out. Can recommend! They also buy used books if you're looking to get rid of any.

Small but quality selection. Lots of locally relevant books of past and present. I picked up three excellent David Mitchell books that I didn't have. Never imagined finding these three all in good shape and in one place!

This is a wonderful book shop! The owner was friendly and helpful, but didn’t hover or ask too many questions. I like being greeted, asked if I need anything and then left alone to browse. It was quiet when I first walked in, but half a dozen customers came in too and the owner was kind to everyone. I found a short story collection by Mary Hood in the local author section. It’s a small store, but she has lots of things to read!

I’m a local and visit this store whenever I’m downtown. I always find something to treat myself to, whether a popular novel, a beautiful edition of an old classic, or something from the selection of local authors. The staff has always been kind and helpful. I love the atmosphere inside!

Great price, I was able to find a complete LOTR box set, as well as some Stephan King books I had been looking for. I think in total I paid $30 dollars, which is very good considering the condition the books were in. All in all, a wonderful store with wonderful staff. I will be visiting again.

A classic downtown bookstore of years passed, but don't pass by! Seriously--go in and check out the great selection of fairly-priced books, gifts, and music. I'm a classically-trained musician and I really enjoyed perusing the shelves of old CDs which (many of which aren't available anymore).

Also, who doesn't adore a small business which lets you play with the dog?

This place is such a gem! We were so happy to have come across it when visiting a year ago and just returned for our second visit yesterday. The selection is small but incredibly well curated. I have a lot of respect for the owner because there is truly a book for everyone here. All the books are in next to new condition and priced as well as ordering used offline. Can't wait to return again on our next trip up!
Also- a big thank you to the woman who rang us up for packing us up in her fabric ingles bag! I know we just about bought all the books so we really appreciated it!

We visit a few times a year to stay at the Believe in Tomorrow respite house and the bookstore is always top of the list to visit. We always find treasures!

I absolutely LOVE this bookstore. If you haven't been there, your missing out. I find so many must have when I go there. My kids find as many as I do and we leave with a huge box of books but I didnt need to take out a personal loan. Check them out!

Very quaint. Lovely little shop. I only was able to make a short visit but they had a very eclectic selection. Great shop design and layout it fits in very well with the other little shops of "downtown" Flat Rock.

I did not understand why my son, JohnPaul, insisted on Joy of Books..., until I got here. Quaint, welcoming, gr8 reception, gr8 communication with guests, comfortable, and I found a gr8 little book on mindfulness at a gr8 price.

Absolutely loved this little shop! Don’t let the small size fool you, it is jam packed with an expansive collection of genres! The owner was very friendly and helpful and made our experience there even better!! We will be back next time we are in the area!!
