St. Luke School Reviews

Curriculum and teachers are top notch. The community has been our favorite part. Parents show up, volunteer and become an extension of your St. Luke Family. Our children have become friends with kids across the different classrooms. The older kids have been such great role models. Very happy with our decision to make St. Luke our school! If I could give more than 5 stars I would!

We switched our daughter to St. Luke at the start of Kindergarten and we couldn’t be happier we did. The IB education coupled with the incredible staff of teachers can’t be beat. We also gained a huge community with the switch and we feel so lucky to be a part of it,

Never been happier switching my kids from preschool to St Luke Preschool. The community is superb and the IB education has helped grow my kids education two fold since starting. We are now lifers!!

Amazing education, community, and administration. This is our third local private school experience and wish we had started here. The overall dedication of the staff and parents to the school and student body is unparalleled. We could not be happier!

St Luke's has been a supporting and overall good experience for our two children. Over time, there has been an emphasis on continued improvement. The community is strong and the academic curriculum has improved during our time here. Grade and middle school can be challenging years in many ways, but the staff and Catholic tradition help in smoothing some of that. My daughter graduated last year and is doing well at a very challenging private high school; I thank the school for helping her along this path.

I highly recommend St. Luke School! When deciding on where to send my children for school, the education was a very important factor but I also was looking to find a school that educated the whole person and had a community feel. Five years later, St. Luke School has exceeded my expectations. The teachers challenge my children and are extremely encouraging which has allowed my children to push themselves out of their comfort zone and flourish. The staff at the school (including the principal) know all of the children at the school which is remarkable. From the robotics club, chess club, cooking classes, spelling bees, the global reading challenge, choir to sports and field trips to see plays and volunteer at the SVDP food bank, my kids are being exposed to a large range of activities and are loving school! There is a sense of community at the school among the kids and the parents and many fun school events that get parents involved.

From the moment you first walk on campus, it is obvious that St Luke School is a special place. The hive energy of this school is palpable! My family's first experience here was last fall at a tour and interview with Principal Boyle. The middle school students who hosted the walking part of the tour were polite, poised and knowledgable. They were able to answer some pretty tough "mom questions" with ease. I was especially impressed with the unscripted candidness with which they answered, and for which they instantly earned my respect. During the parent interview, I found Principal Boyle to be warm and interested. I was able to tell right away that he is extraordinarily hands-on in his approach to running a school. (I found out later that it is common for him to walk the playyard at recess, connecting with students. He has also been known to jump in and sub in a classroom for a bit. He has an open door policy with the students and more often than not, you’ll find him walking the hallways, greeting parents and students in the morning.) Principal Boyle is transparent in his role, and is a wonderful academic visionary. Needless to say, i filled out an application for enrollment right then and there.
And we were pleased to find the curriculum to be modern and rigorous. The International Baccalaureate Program has proven to enrich both inside and outside of the school. Whether academic or social/emotional, my daughter's ability to look at a problem, ask questions, identify the conflict, and come up with a solution has greatly improved since she's been at SLS. (A pleasant side effect, i've noticed that i have to do less "parenting" since my daughter started attending. Love that!) I can speak to the curriculum in the lower grades in that it is varied and seems on point with global perspectives of today. New ideas and concepts are being introduced all the time. Whether it be ongoing emotional development such as understanding how our emotions influence our actions, or learning about recycling through conservation, or taking a deep dive into a historical figure or event---every day seems different! And the teachers do an excellent job of communicating the events of the classroom so I feel like I have a front row seat to my daughter's education. I can't imagine her ever becoming bored at this school.
The educators are engaged, caring, and do a wonderful job of teaching to the individual student. They seem adept at identifying the needs of each child and my daughter has been encouraged to explore her talents in a very nurturing environment. We also love that in addition to her homeroom teachers, my daughter has weekly pullout classes in gym, music, and library (as well as visits from the student life director, teaching coordinators, and parish staff, all of whom are absolutely wonderful). My daughter is being taught by many different personalities and is able to view the world through many different sets of eyes. It seems all the teachers (and administration et al) make it a point know every child in the school, whether they are in their specific homeroom or not. What a rare gift that is!
The frosting on this amazing cake of a school is the community. As a new parent, i had a lot of questions about expectations and I didn't know how i would fit in with the parents. I can't express enough, how welcoming and open the St Luke parent community is. I'm talking profoundly more than a chin-nod across the parking lot at drop-off. Parents take the time to get to know you, and make an effort to connect on a tangible level. On the first day of school, teachers/staff and parent volunteers (who i had yet to meet!) where waving, calling hello and knew my name / who my daughter was. So many parents took the time to reach out and made themselves available at the start of the year. The warmth of this community is like a giant virtual hug, and it was very easy for us to settle in and feel like a part of the family. The nurturing extends well beyond the classroom at St Luke. And the wow factor seems never ending! My family couldn’t be happier here.
