It has been a year or more since I rode the Valley Metro Transit, but they offer a very good service to the residents of Roanoke.
A maintenance worker named Tony was a fantastic representative of the Metro. He was always very kind when I was passing through the terminal. He is a great highlight of my time traveling by Metro. I know he brightens the day and lives of many passing through on life's journey.

I had a great experience with Valley Metro. I enjoyed the scenery and the convenience of the service.

Keep up the good work, Valley Metro. Take good care of your good employees like Tony. The good employees don't come along every day.

Being physically challenged, my transportation needs are a little different than many.
Valley Metro has never failed to assist me with fast, dependable service, with the utmost safety in mind for folks like me.
They worked very hard through the Covid shutdown to provide the best service possible, and have continued to provide transportation with the highest safety in mind for passengers.

I did something yesterday that I haven't done in 40+ years. I rode a Valley Metro bus!. Wow how times have changed. Not knowing anything about how they operate now i.e. schedules routes fares etc. I waited for 1.5 hours before a bus could be seen going my way. I promptly got on and ask the driver how much the fare was. He sarcastically said $1.75. I slid 2 one dollar bills in the machine and went on my way. He actually hollered at me and said " here is your cash card". That is how they give you your change now. After asking for a transfer so I could ride to my old hometown of Salem I took my seat. There were people from all walks of life on the bus. A fella with a briefcase a lady with a toddler and a couple of young people talking very loudly and cursing. When the bus arrived at Campbell Court I ask the sarcastic driver which bus went to Salem. He must have been getting off work as he was happy go lucky by then. He directed me to my next bus and I said thank you. He apologized to me for hollering at me which I just blew it off because I know he has to deal with some not so kind people. I boarded the next bus going to Salem and handed the driver my transfer. He laughed jokingly and said" your first time riding?" I said no but it has been 40+ years and I could hear a lot of people on the bus chuckling as I followed the drivers directions on how to use a transfer.I chuckled to after looking back at the bus load of people. I must have made their day because as I walked back to my seat everybody was actually welcoming me back to the family that rides everyday. One man shook my hand and said if you need any help I willl be glad to assist you. On to Salem we went and I didn't know how long that ride would be. We went all over Salem on this particular route. It took 2 hours to get back to Campbell Court. I talked with several people and everyone I talked with was so polite. Even the driver said "have a good evening" every time someone left the bus. We stopped in front of the old county court house and I witnessed the most amazing thing I had seen in years. This lady announced that a wheelchair was coming and people adjusted the seating arrangement. There is a special place in front of the bus where the seats fold up and accomadate a wheelchair. Also the driver sent an automatic ramp out of the bus so this handicapped individual could just ride right up on the bus. My faith in people was restored at that very moment. We arrived at the " bus depot" and everyone went scrambling to their next bus. My ride was a joyous one. It was a welcome site after hearing so many people complain about Valley Metro. Kudos to the bus drivers and thank you for a very pleasant experience.
