Arizmendi Bakery (Lakeshore)

The pizza was really good. They have a different kind every day and every time I go I buy one for my friend then just eat it. If you buy cookies you will eat them all like Cookie Monster from Sesame Street.

The chocolate thing available on Sundays from @arizmendilakeshore is my favorite pastry in the Bay Area … so far! Their chocolate chip pecan cookie is also good. I also enjoy the iced coffee, pizza (flavors change daily) and today’s veggie vegan soup was delish! I love that it’s a coop owned by people who work hard and make good food, bread and drink. I love this location.

Incredible pastries and crazy delicious thin crust sourdough crust pizza. Long lines but they move fast. They do have cheese pizza for the kiddos. The light bake option for the pizzas is brilliant if you're not eating it right away.

If you happen to be around please make sure to stop by for a slice of pizza, pastries or bread. There might be a line - the wait is totally worth it, I promise. I love getting a slice to go and walk around Lake Merritt. They also have many drink options and soup. Their staff is super friendly and have a very cool ethos as a business.

My favorite bakery in the bay!! Glad to see they've expanded to other locations outside of SF. Really can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but the pizza of the day is a must. Scones are a close second. Despite being very busy, we were still able to get a table to eat.

🤤🤤🤤 They have a unique and delicious cinnamon roll. Personally not a fan of the chocolate croissant but everything else I’ve tried is enjoyable! Affordable slice of pizza when I’m walking the lake and cheesy craving strikes. Usually a line, always efficient and friendly staff. Looking forward to tasting my way through the baked goods case.

I love Arizmendi. With several of these co-op bakeries sprinkled around the Bay Area as well as other thin veggie options like Sliver and Cheeseboard, the Lakeshore location is my favorite. Their vegetarian pizzas are so consistently delicious regardless of the toppings and even better, their breakfast pizza on Sunday mornings make my weekend infinitely better.

The pizza. Is. Delicious. Not only is the crust thin and crunchy, but the flavors combine in a way that leaves nothing overpowered— I hate pizzas that make the ingredients compete! Service was nice, there’s barely any seating so plan to eat standing or head to the park if you’re visiting on a busy day. I’d totally recommend this place :)

Always busy. Favorite bakery in Oakland. Favorites include: daily Vegetarian pizza, special cheese roll, cinnamon roll with frosting, cinnamon and sugar morning bun, currant scone, peanut butter cookie, blueberry muffin… you really can’t go wrong here!

Tight space, so tables and chairs are always in demand. Fortunately you can always sit by the lake if you can’t find a seat at the cafe. I recommend parking by Trader Joe's where there's 2 hour free parking, because parking is hard to come by.

One of my favourite bakeries in the East Bay! I usually make the exit to load up on sweet and savory baked goods prior to the long haul home to Los Angeles.

I've been a regular customer over the past 15 years and I haven't been disappointed. It is a co-op bakery that is self-service. All items contain no artificial flavours/ingredients and taste excellent fresh or reheated in the oven.

Arizmendi is like my favorite Uncle...consistent, high quality and not for everybody. Been eating at Arizmendi since 1998 and they never disappoint. If you want meat everything or the same pizza everytime then push on to LaneSplitter or Forge. This spot creates seasonal Vegetarian pizzas and a growing number of bakery options. Order a Hot or Light bake and consider adding more veggies to your diet...as long as they are covered in Oil and Parmesan!

One of the best pizza's I've ever had! The crust is crunchy and flavorful. The toppings are not overwhelming and enhance the delicious flavors of the crust and cheese. Each topping was bursting with flavor and complementing every other topping very well. I love that there's just a few options, makes deciding easy and its always seasonal. Great, friendly helpful staff! Online ordering was very simple and their website gives you easy to follow, clear instructions. Thank you all for great food and great service!

Absolutely the best bakery! The pizza special changes everyday but is always a winner and the baked goods are amazing. Great tea and coffee drinks simple and high quality for the win.

I visited this bakery today and was blown away. I haven't been here in 20 years and I thought I would give it a shot. Everything I purchased was so delicious! Chocolate brownie, chocolate chip/pecan cookie, chocolate croissant, hummus, and a slice of pizza. (I didn't eat this all in one sitting 😉 ). The pizza was so fresh and delicious, I noticed that I didn't get stomach bloat like I do at Mod Pizza. The brownie was absolutely perfect, not too sweat and a balance between cakie/chocolate. The hummus is probably the best I have ever tasted. I want that recipe! I will return next weekend, it is worth the drive/traffic.

No meat, only one type of pizza available each day, and all kinds of weird topping combinations had me skeptical about Arizmendi at first but I am so happy I stepped out of my comfort zone. Arizmendi may just be the best pizza that I have ever had in my life.

The weird topping combinations? Turns out they are the result of truely masterful flavor craft that I have never before experienced outside of secret family recipes and Michelin star restaurants.

Only one type of pizza a day? This facilitates a streamlined ordering, super short wait times, and eliminates choice overload making it perfect for a break from a busy work day.

No meat? After tasting their pizza I'm not sure that I even thinj meat belongs on pizza anymore. My eyes have been opened and now I see the truth: meat is a flavor crutch that serves only to prop up bland an uninspired pizzas.

If all of that werent amazing enough, Arizmendi is a worker own cooperative with amazing members, shockingly low prices (less than $4 a slice), a charming atmosphere, and provides a warm fuzzy feeling about supporting them over corporate pretenders.

Arizmendi Bakery has been one of my favorite bakeries to frequent since living in Oakland. It is a cooperative business—anotherwords, run by the people that work there.

They are very Covid minded. You line up outside the store front. You can look into the storefront window to see what pastries are available. When you get to the head of the line there is a list on the door telling you what pizza and soup is available for the day. The cookies were bundled together for easier buying.

There were 2 people working the front of the store—one taking the order and money, and the other person getting it and bagging for you.

Their baked goods are fresh and delicious! I have always scarfed down their vegetarien soup and pizza with gusto. Their prices are reasonable.

They look like they are succussful during the pandemic, and I am happy to see that. There are many businesses very close by that haven't been able to make it.

Great bakery not to be missed. Good enough to drive over to visit. Great coffee. I recommend the corn bread chewy scones. And the slice of the day pizza available, of course.

A true gem. I came on a hummus recommendation and stayed for the za of the today that was phenomenal. If I lived slightly closer I would come daily but alas this will be at least a weekly stop for my hummus fix. Some of the best I’ve ever had. Great vibes as well

It’s fantastic! The bakery is worker owned! right on! The display cases are clean and organized and easy to access. All the breads are made daily and often sell out before the end of the day, so I would recommend an early in the day purchase versus later. A true artisans bakery with great selections. Their sourdough bread loaves to die for. Their city sourdough is terrific as is their green olive sourdough and the garlic cheddar is excellent as well. They have a great selection of scones and muffins and lots of other goodies that you would expect from a great bakery. A super nice staff behind the counter. And you can expect they’ll be a crowd. Especially on a Sunday like it was when we were there.

The bakery is so far from my house in San Jose but it’s totally worth the drive! We order about two large boxes of pastries and a hot pizza each time.
There’s just something about the pizza that makes it so irresistible. I think the dough is just really good. We order a half pizza and they always give a third of a slice extra :)
In pastries I really love the vegan zucchini ginger muffin and savory croissant.
Everyone is so polite and helpful! I usually order online and my order is always ready in time.
Would highly recommend the Lakeshore Arizmendi!
