Oakland Public Library: Montclair Branch

This is a very charming, small library at the end of Montclair village.

It has a surprisingly large selection and a wonderful children's area. They have crayons and art supplies and books for all ages.
It's clean and the staff is very helpful. It is very soothing.

Terrific place. But watch 3 pm the little boys have computers locked up fir their GAMES. How about some limits?

Staff is very pleasant and helpful. While its on site collection is limited, one can easily request books online from other branches. Oakland’s collection of Asian and African American fiction is quite substantial. The library’s LINK + system allows one to get access to many books in a few days from local public libraries and universities. The only downside to this branch is very limited street parking.

Tiny, adorable little library. Cutest old building. They have a nice collection of local history books and photos of the local area that I really enjoyed flipping through.

Seems like the kids section is large and welcoming.

The Montclair Library is one of the most charming libraries you will ever visit. It's an adorable storybook cottage with very nice staff. I was so gratified to recognize it in Michael Chabon's book "Moonglow," where it was featured as a small locational supporting character.
