Ive been taking Pilates once a week for almost 2 years now at Reactive Movement. It’s been an excellent experience and I definitely feel stronger, more aligned and balanced. The instructors are great and a special shout out to Jaclyn who gives amazing instruction and always changes up our weekly class and keeps it interesting. I always feel mentally and physically better after my class.

I also love the vibe at the studio, very mellow and all the equipment is modern, kept clean and well maintained.

Highly recommend the team at Reactive Movement! The style of Pilates (Body Harmonics) practiced at Reactive Movement is gentle and broken into steps so that you can find yourself doing advanced Pilates moves without injuring yourself. The group reformer classes are small, fun, and get you in shape.
Individual training regularly has been an important part of managing my back pain and scoliosis; it also was the best post-physical therapy for my knee replacement, as well as recovery after an abdominal surgery.

Usually I have to force myself to exercise but I look forward to going to Pilates classes at ReActive Movement. The instructors are excellent, the environment is attractive and inviting, and the people in the class are friendly and inclusive. The staff is always helpful and responsive to requests and schedule changes. I highly recommend ReActive Movement if you want a good workout in a positive, enjoyable setting.

I've been taking private sessions at Reactive for several years and my sessions are always great. The teachers are very knowledgeable and thoughtful in how they tailor my sessions to all the things I have going on so I feel better leaving than when I come in. The studio is easy to book and work with overall and is always clean :)

I love Reactive Movement! I have been going to classes and doing private sessions with Holly for almost 8 years. I used to struggle with a lot of chronic pain issues, but Holly, who is super knowledgeable is often able to fix me. I always feel seen and heard. The staff is always friendly. The space is great--clean, harmonious and spacious. They have just about any piece of equipment you could ever dream of and more. Struggling with back, knee, or hip pain? You've come to the right place! Reactive Movement will get you back in fighting shape!

I love this gorgeous, serene, light and airy studio, the instructors, and pilates! Reactive Movement is very welcoming and unintimidating, and I really appreciated that as a new student. I have been a client since 2019, and initially sought to resolve some knee and shoulder pain and movement limitation issues resulting from injuries. I started with 1-on-1 sessions, which very quickly and effectively provided relief and rehabilitation. Then as I progressed, I added classes which I enjoy very much. My strength, balance and symmetry have all improved dramatically. I am in my 50's so I am so grateful that I found this studio, to add to hiking and other active pursuits. The teachers at Reactive Movement really help me to maintain flexibility and the functional fitness needed to do everything else that I love to do. Jaclyn is a sincerely wonderful and thoughtful teacher, who is so knowledgeable and empathetic and I love both working with her individually and also in her classes. I always feel even in a class environment that the teachers really listen and are responsive to students and their needs and/or limitations as individuals. Just the best! I give it ALL the stars!

I have been a client of this studio since it opened. I have had other Pilates instructors at other places in the past, but this studio is by far the best. Holly understands the needs of those of us recovering from surgery and physical injuries. My instruction has continued on zoom during the quarantine. Even the quality of zoom instruction is better than other zoom exercise and physical therapy services I have tried. I recommend this studio and all the staff without reservation.

I love taking classes at ReActive. The space is so relaxing and the instructors are the best Pilates instructors that I have encountered. Jaclyn is so calm and she is great at explaining the movement and how your body mechanics should "ReAct!" I have had back issues and going to classes has helped by having the pain go away. I feel stronger after class. Thank you ReActive Movement!

I have been a client of Reactive Movement for nearly four years. I had been limping and hunched over because of the stiffness in my hip. These sessions can be described as “therapeutic workouts” - the movements are challenging but effective and are focused on strengthening the core, improving balance and flexibility. Within a few months, I felt relief and increased flexibility. Holly listens, observes and shifts gears as needed to address the cause of discomfort. These sessions are an investment for well-being and I would recommend Holly’s services for anyone experiencing aches and difficulties in movement.

I started at ReActive Movement to deal with a long time lower back pain problem that had pained me for many years. My 1:1 sessions with Jaclyn really helped me get my back and body back on track and now i'm as healthy from my back as I've been in over 10 years. Now I understand how important pilates is at keeping important core muscles strong which is a foundation for overall musculoskeletal health and health in general. The instructors at ReActive movement are kind, helpful and very knowledgeable.

I have been going to the studio since it opened and have taken classes from Holly prior to her opening the studio. All of the instructors are top notch. Well trained and everyone takes great care to understand each individual’s needs. The studio is spotlessly clean and the equipment is top of the line. When the studio moved to virtual classes this same care and attention to detail are evident in the classes offered. You won’t find a better experience. Do yourself a favor and try one of the classes or a private session.

I've been going to this beautiful studio since it opened. The space is lovely and calming, the equipment is impressive and extensive, and the instructors are knowledgable, kind, and fun. Most recently, they quickly pivoted to online classes during shelter-in-place, and although I am eager to get back to the studio and in person classes, they've done a great job with their virtual mat sessions. I'm so glad to be able to continue taking classes there. I cannot recommend them strongly enough.

Owner and Director Holly Wallis of ReActive Movement is an excellent Teacher Trainer. Both of her equipment and con ed courses are balanced and well blended of content input, shared experiences, demonstrations, and experiential learning through individual and paired practice. Holly demonstrated her deep expertise, passion and enthusiasm for the Pilates practice with a great detail to biomechanics and showed great patience for the students learning at different levels. Highly recommended for those interested in pursuing Pilates Instructor education, mentoring and practice!

After researching many local Pilates studios and instructors, I made the call to ReActive Movement 2.5 years ago. I was specifically interested in working with KaRon Dishmon, due to her extensive training and experience with spinal stenosis. From day one, KaRon identified and understood what was going on with my body. Both working together in the studio and showing me how to safely and effectively work out on my own, KaRon has helped me build strength and confidence. By maintaining copious, weekly notes about my progress, KaRon keeps my workouts relevant and challenging.

Although the studio is beautiful and efficiently laid out, with a large array of well kept equipment, when the quarantine hit, KaRon and ReActive reached out with virtual sessions (group and individual). It felt as if we hadn't skipped a beat. I’m definitely a stronger and happier person because of KaRon and ReActive and I couldn’t be more thankful.

In 2017 I walked into this studio with crippling back pain from years of driving. I was formally diagnosed with severe stenois betwen L4 and L5. After some dedicated work, I have reached medication-free pain management through functional movement and strengthening. Thank you to Holly and the entire team at Reactive Movement for introducing me to Pilates and Body Harmonics. My core muscles really thank you!

Great place! Friendly and very knowledgeable staff. I‘ve worked with KaRon on intermittent back pain (gone), posture issues (fixed), and improving balance. KaRon spotted this weakness and we working on it now to prevent future problems.

Last year, I suggested that my husband who was in physical therapy for foot pain to try Pilates. He no longer has foot pain and before Shelter in Place was running around Lake Merritt which he hasn’t been able to do in years.

Both my husband and I are continuing our sessions with KaRon via Zoom. I thought it might be one step above exercising with a YouTube video but KaRon pays close attention and is able to give very clear directions and explanations. The major difference with a
studio session is not using some of the specialized equipment but KaRon comes up with creative options to address the same issues. Bottom line, I always feel improvement after a session!

If you have any need for rehab - post-surgical, post-injury, correcting poor posture or gait - you NEED to see Holly Wallis. I've been searching for someone to take me back to the health and strength I had 10 years ago, before my first surgery. I tried physical therapy, intensive rehabilitation therapy, tai chi, yoga, hiking, weightlifting, and anything else available. My level of disability kept increasing till I found this wonderful teacher. She will work your ass off, but you'll be SO much stronger by the day. She fixed my sprained ankle that my surgeon assured me would never be fixed; the painful feet that have bugged me all my life; the burning hip pain that resulted post-knee-replacement; and all the associated aches and pains from 14 hrs/day at a computer and a knee replacement. I can't recommend her enough. She really IS the BEST. Take it from this recently gimpy person. I'm hiking 2 miles per day now, and back to all the activities I loved before surgery. And I have NEVER felt so damn good in my life!!

Abagail Hornig has been my Pilates instructor for 3 ½ years. I began practicing Pilates at Reactive to relieve chronic back pain and it has worked. After an hour, either in person of via Zoom, I always feel better. Abagail is a pleasure to work with; she’s knowledgeable, considerate and interesting.

my friend finally talked me into going. thank heavens!! lovely, super clean space, and most important, fabulous instructors. I have observed the small classes and treat myself to private sessions with Betsy. Encouraged my husband and he has been equally happy with his sessions. people come for pre-joint surgery strength training and then skip the surgery part!
