I just went again while visiting from out of town. I used to live in Oakland from 1995-1997 and this was a favorite place of mine to eat lunch. I was amazed that when I ordered the same woman was working the counter and the same man was working the grill. The super burrito carne asada and al pastor were still amazing as was the horchata. They still bring chips and spicy salsas (verde and roja) to your table. I took a couple of my adult kids here to share the experience. They loved it and we didn't eat dinner. The prices are reasonable to boot.

Pros: Amazing authentic food, great prices, consistent quality, large portions.
Cons: The area is not as safe as it used to be. Go midday for lunch and you should be fine. We walked from the BART station and back.

Helpfull hint: Eat the burrito by placing it vertical and slowly unwrapping the foil from the top as you eat it. My son and I finished ours, but we had skipped breakfast. I don't see most people as being able to finish a whole burrito in one sitting and unwrapping the whole thing to eat it would become a bit messy.

By far one of if not the best taqueria in Oakland. The food is great and does not pander to the hipsters. My go to is always a carne asada salad.

First time a give a restaurant a 5 Star. But why? you may ask.
Well simple.. this restaurant has a decent portion of food on the plate. Tortilla chips are Free. My order came with 6 tortillas. And the prices are fair. My dinner was $16 .
Other disgusting abusive restaurants.
Won't give tortilla chips. They will only give 2 tortillas for your dinner. Their prices are on the $20 to $25 DLS their food portions are so low. And their service sucks.
SO IF YOU ARE HUNGRY AND AROUND SAN JOSE TAQUERIA IN FRUITVALE.
Go there is the best option. I ate at the other restaurants in the area..they pure trash 🗑.

OK, I’m not a big menudo fan which is what everyone orders here in the weekend but this place has fabulous tacos. There is also live music if you time your visit right. Everyone here seems happy.

Loved the chilaquiles and it was such a good deal for 9,50 usd! So much food! The chicken thighs were perfectly seasoned and grilled. The rice and beans were delicious, no bland food here!! The chilaquiles were covered in tasty (not too spicy) salsa and a huge amount of goey cheese. The red and green salsa that came with the tortilla chips were both excellent and hella spicy 🔥. We also had very tasty freshly squeezed orange juice and tacos al pastor, what a treat! Super fast and friendly service. Will definitely come back here.

Great food, large portions. Came here bc I used to go to their location in San Rafael. People are nice too. Parking is tough tho...damn burrito was delicious bit way big. Makes you over eat!🤪

I've been coming here for years. Everything is delicious! They cook everything fresh, and it's seasoned to perfection. So many tasty flavors at affordable prices. Hands down they are the best restaurant in the town. They have the best food. They also have great customer service and are very accommodating to special requests. Great place for families. On street parking can be hard to find but it's so worth it. I love this restaurant!!!

Every single time I drive to the Bay area I have to make the trip to Oakland to come here. I LOAD UP on 10-12 Burritos to bring home for friends and family and eat 3-4 of their Al Pastor Tacos before leaving. They have the best tasting in green salsa

I’ve been going to this place for over 24 yrs and it never disappoints!!! I have been known to come as soon as they open for a burrito lol it doesn’t matter what time of day this is hands down the best place to get any kind of Mexican food. I’m in AZ now and not 1 of the many places I’ve tried has ever come close planning a trip back to the bay just to come here!

Great food! I come here pretty often so the staff always treat me and my family very nicely! All their food comes in large portions so the tacos are big and the burritos are huge. Prices are also very good compared to other spots in the area. Would definitely recommend if youre looking for somewhere new.

Been a customer for YEARS! The only place I will get Mexican food in Oakland. My whole family loves them. We would drive from Sacramento to Oakland just to get burritos and tacos from this place. The green sauce is 🔥. You won't be disappointed.

This place has been here forever and I've been ordering from here for years. I think that the prices are reasonable and the portion sizes are always just right. This place looks smaller from the outside than it is from the inside so feel free to bring a large group.

I love this place. The food is tasty, served in generous portions, and everyone is welcoming. I get the pollo asada super burrito. Their salsa verde is full of flavor but not too hot for me.

It's not for the fussy. The place could use a power steam cleaning because it's dingy but the work surfaces are kept spotless.

If I knew I had one meal before I died, I'd want the pollo asada super burrito, and id want to see everyone on FaceTime. We consider each other familly.

Spending my vacay stuffing my face with all types of food out here. My husband left Oakland 14 years ago and brought us here saying they had the best food. I doubted him but I will admit this place did have the best burrito and their nacho cheese fries was so good too. Couldn't finsh the burrito or the fries.

This is my favorite place. I would go just about every day after school to get my fix. The best burritos and tacos. The Salsa Verde 😋 yummy. I would get about 4 of them to go along with the carrots/jalapeños.

I came here on the 4/10/18 around 5:30pm and I have to say the burritos were incredible. The cashier said we sell quality burritos not quantity. She said that because I told her the Taqueria down the street sells some enormous burritos. I bought a steak burrito with everything and my girl order Alpastor with everything. The burritos had flavor and I believe it's because of the cook. I recommend the steak burrito and Alpastor definitely.

Ecsquisite .. regular burrito @ $8.69. Great patio outside that delivers a great atmosphere especially during these times. Love it my new favorite taqueria in Oakland. Hidden architectural jem in plane sight. Love it.
