Shepherd Canyon Park

Calm upper park with a small network of trails. Great for light walks.

Large lower grass area where kids and adults play sports & with their dogs. Don't expect calm down there...

Overall very clean, even the bathrooms.

Park is busy on weekends, clearer on weekdays.

Could use some more landscape/native plant reclaimation to improve the look of the park.. but hey it's pretty dang good for and Oakland park! Go check it out!

Beautiful park with lots of good walking/hiking trails. Good for all levels of experience.

Just found this beautiful park after a rainstorm. The creek was flowing, the grass was green and the wild flowers smelled amazing.

Great park! Used to be landfill, but now a great park after they buried that in dirt. Might explain why they had three redwoods randomly die. Once in a while they have goats eating the vegetation which is fun for kids, and a back area seldom visited by folks.

The trail I walked is the old railroad line. Paved asphalt winds through oak and eucalyptus trees. From where I entered at the top of LaSalle Avenue to the 1 mile marker is lovely. Places to sit on park benches every quarter mile or so. Dogs are allowed on leashes, bicyclists and just people who want a pretty walk.

Excellent place for dog walking or your own.

Length: 1 mile, flat and paved. Great for a half hour 2 mile walk. Dog lovers paradise.

Nice green grass, clean bathrooms, it's set at the bottom of this Canyon surrounded by trees. Grew up near the area take my dogs here.

Beautiful park, nice areas to explore, not too crowded unless there's soccer practice.

Excellent for day hikes. Very peaceful. Be prepared for some ups and downs.
