East Bay Booksellers

This has become one of my favorite bookstores. It's beautiful inside and has a wonderful book selection in many genres. When I visited twice last month, the woman working was kind and friendly. I found two interesting books (including one featured here in the image) and a gift for a friend. Great place for book lovers!

By far the best bookstore in the Berkeley / Oakland area with a very interesting and unique selection of books and staff recommendations across a wide range of tastes. Great job. We need more.

Lot's of good literature and diverse representation. They carry an extensive selection of Japanese stationary, writing and drawing supplies. Also liked the staff review section. We like to read their takes on what's new.

I like that their selection of poetry, critical theory, philosophy, sociology, art criticism and history books are something I gravitate to. I'm glad they exist and are definitely a resource. Also, their selection of Japanese/German/etc. stationery is decent.

Excellent bookstore with excellent booksellers! They have a great but limited selection. I recommend checking out their website first if you're looking for a specific book. They list whether or not it's on their shelves!

Amazing selection and knowledge staff. We said we're looking for a new author to read in the style of Murakami and the clerk immediately had several suggestions that panned out great. Highly recommend a visit to East Bay Booksellers!

They're so friendly and easy to work with, and they make book ordering and pickup super easy, especially during COVID! You can order everything online, they email you when your order is packaged and ready for pickup, and you just pop in and pick it up! Ditch amazon, support this beloved local bookstore instead 😄

The selection here has been so thoughtfully curated and they truly know their customers. The selection looks deceptively small but they always have exactly what I'm looking for from vegetarian/vegan cooking to natural dyes to chart topping popular fiction. This is the kind of place you can go when you don't have anything in mind and leave with a new treasure.

Needed a gift support quick! The staff is quite knowledgeable and many were helpful. They also have free giftwrapping which looked very nice. Some bookstores are not as neat and don't look as professional. Don't be fooled by the store front. This is a great sized store with excellent finds!

These people love books. The experience is inevitably curated, as the proprietors are dealing with limited square footage in a high rent district. You should stop by, though, to see what they do. Unusual books about interesting things! They are skewing their demographic toward children, slightly, which is likely good for them.

Truly a lovely bookstores experience. Interesting staff recommendations, nice browsing layout, lots of cards and gift choices. They will order anything for you and it arrives quickly. Really, buy your books here instead of ordering online ... support a local business and enjoy looking around and discovering something new.

A cute, quaint little boutique bookstore in Rockridge. I've popped in here many times throughout high school to browse the selections. Over the years, they've updated the organization of the store--the children's section is much neater now. It used to be much messier and crowded. Lighting has brightened, and even though this is a pretty small bookstore, they still have a decent selection of books, and I can spend quite a while browsing here. They also have couches that you can sit on and read.

The staff is also very friendly and knowledgeable. Even if they don't have a book in their store, they're able to order it for you so that it's ready for you to pick up when it arrives. Definitely happy to see this local indie bookstore surviving the recession and remaining a staple in the Rockridge neighborhood.

East Bay Booksellers has all the things I love about a bookstore: attentive staff, staff picks sprinkled throughout, shelves you can get lost in, and an art section where you can find little trinkets and writing supplies.
