My partner and I met some friends here for a quick bite and drinks and we loved it. The key reasons to stop by:
1. A diverse trap list full of delicious beers - something for everyone.
2. Awesome garlic and sweet potato fries.
3. A quiet back patio with plenty of heaters if needed.
Importantly for us, this place is also very bike friendly. They have a bike rack in the back of their patio in a protected place for you to lock up.

Sounds like they have jazz and local acts for live music on a regular basis - we went on a Wednesday and Bob Scott Trio was playing. They were so much fun to listen to and watch! Nice guys too when we had a chance to chat in between sets.
Chicken Sammie buffalo style was pretty good - large though, went home with leftovers! Super sturdy bread which was delicious.

This place ended up being the perfect spot for an after hike Saturday lunch. The cider was refreshing and my pizza was delicious. Perfectly soft center and crunchy crust. The fries were crispy too! There were people here enjoying their day, and there was plenty of seating. They even have an outdoor patio! Everyone we encountered was friendly. My husband and I would definitely come back!

Great place to meet up with friends, have a beer on tap and some pretty good food. Love that they now have an outdoor seating area.

Great spot for beer and good food (sandwiches and burgers mainly). I've never had a problem with the food service, but when the bar gets packed (for example, on Trivia Night) it is usually just one bartender behind the bar to get people's drinks. Could be faster. Still, one of my favorite pubs in town.

It was nice. Some interesting beers. My husband and son had a beer called interior that has flavors of maple syrup and chocolate. We ate in the garden because we had our little dog with us. The whole afternoon was extremely pleasant.

Cato’s switched from it’s COVID set up to its regular set up. First time experiencing the restaurant and the staff is very friendly. Casual atmosphere and beautiful sun patio for dining. Ordered Fish and Chips. It came out hot and crispy. I’ve had larger fish portions elsewhere but these weren’t bad!

Came here just last week and it was great.
Such a chilled out place with its own character and feel. Wooden hipster kind of place without being dirty and loud. Low dim lights and small tables tucked in all corners make it ideal for a date night.
First come first seated kind of rules so come early around 7pm or bit later after 9pm to easily get a table. We came around 8:30pm and most of the tables were taken so we chilled by the bar having couple of beers on tap and in about 15-20 min we got a table for four. Definitely easier to find table for 2 :)
Service is friendly. Food is really good with all sorts of options from salads, sandwiches, pizzas, burger and so on. Good options for vegetarian people as well.
Between the four of us we ordered:
-Margarita Pizza full pie shared by 2. Too big to finish. Darn tasty and cheesy!
- Lebanese chicken sandwich - our friends said was good
- Crab burger - our friends said it outshined the chicken sandwich and was tasty.
Beers were great. They even had Pliny the Elder on tap that Thursday and it was available throughout the night woohoo!
We felt comfortable, welcomed and totally at home. That earns 5 stars in my book. Can't wait to be back to try more from their menu!

Amazing beer selection, pretty good food, great music on Sundays, and a cheery/friendly staff. An all around great place to grab a drink and have a bite to eat! It's our local favorite.

Loud, old vibes, yummy bar food, and they have cider beer! Terrific Friday spot!

Been going here for over 10 years and have never been disappointed by the food, beer selections and most importantly the service. Atmosphere is fun on event nights.

Such a great neighborhood pub! They've got a good food menu and a ton of rotating taps. The service is friendly and there's plenty of seating - they've got a cool windowed room at the very front which is our preferred place to sit. The fish and chips was killer (fries needed some salt and pepper, but no big deal). We'll definitely keep coming back here.

Rad place, cool old school pub/bar vibes. Mike the bartender has great conversation and beer knowledge. Would recommend for both food and drink.

I've been going to Cato's since 2000, & they are hands down the best pub in the entire Bay Area. The vibe there has always been great, & I have over two decades' worth of awesome times there.

Cato's is a staple of piedmont ave. It's a local hangout with good beer, good music and good food. If you're a sports fan they almost always have a game on.

Very popular pub. It can get crowded during peak hours, and special events. Food is solid. Beer selection is superb

I came for the $5 Guinness & corned beef & cabbage special on 03/17/19. The corned beef was tender & delicious. The cabbage and potatoes were good too.
Outside of St. Patrick's Day, I've had the Catoburger & fries which are always good. The beer selection is very diverse. Once a week, they tap Pliny The Elder.
I'm a repeat customer!

Came here for Monday trivia night. Place was bustling. Food made its way to our tables somehow. Good beer. Easy going.

Classic Piedmont hang. Beer lines are clean and fresh, food is bangin’ especially these days. The ol’ go-to spot for every occasion!

Great neighborhood bar with draft beer from local, regional, and other breweries.
It's family-friendly and the food is really good. There was a change in the kitchen a few years ago and the quality improved.
The double pizza slice is always great, and the "new" pizza is better than before (2019).
Be sure to check the daily specials.
