Grand Lake Kitchen - Lake Merritt

Great spot for brunch. Took someone here for their birthday and they like it. They’re a very picky eater and she loved the polenta bowl. Our food were also delicious and our mocktails were refreshing.

Savory French toast and warm polenta bowl are just tries! Fresh ingredients and well seasoned. The coffee was spot on as well.
Make sure to reach early on weekends to avoid brunch crowds.

Excellent service and amazing brunch. Hands down the best French Toast I've had in years. Did I mention the avocado toast can be served with poached eggs and arugula? Lovely way to start the day. A+

My favorite brunch spot in Oakland 9-years running. Everything is delicious and the staff is so friendly. It’s right by the lake. I recommend going on a Saturday then hitting up the Saturday market near the freeway.

The breads in every dish are solid. I finished my food then moved on to chomp my friends’ dishes (which they weren’t too happy about). Definitely come here for brunch any time.

I had a great lunch with my brother at GLK. We shared: Lamb Chops (appetizer, perfectly pan roasted topped with a nice vinaigrette), Fried Brussel Sprouts (frying left outside leaves crispy), and the Pastrami Reuben Sando (generous amount of tasty pastrami). All were delicious and portion were good. We got a order of donuts to go. Service was great too.

I was expecting Grand Lake Kitchen to be awesome from what I'd heard, but going for the first time, I was completely blown away.

The brunch was out of this world. Fresh, delicious, and so fast! The vibes were off the charts and I can't wait to go back.

My dining partner and I enjoyed our brunch very much. We sat outside in the front seating area with a view of the water. The food was delicious and the service excellent. Recommended.

This place lived up to the hype. Went with some of my nursing colleagues for brunch and really fell in love with the rack of lamb. I had two orders of this. The next time I come back I will do brunch so I can add some eggs on the side. The 4 drinks you see are the four flavor mimosas. Orange Juice,Grape fruit, sugar cane, and pomegranate. Definitely reccomend this place.

This is a GREAT location on Lake Merritt. We enjoyed our dinner and came back the next morning for an amazing breakfast. The Matzo ball soup, Cali Bowl, and boozy slushie was divine, our server was just wonderful and I can't say enough about the mini donuts at breakfast! Yum!!

Warm and inviting restaurant with friendly staff and delicious food and drinks.

The only slight flaw is the restaurant is on the smaller side and it can be hard for a large group to be accommodated. If you have a larger group it’s worth going to the Dimond location that is bigger.

One of the best brunch places I've been to -- hands down. You definitely get your bang for your buck and more. The food quality and service were both 🤌😘. I highly recommend the Savory French Toast from the brunch menu -- the poached eggs were cooked just right and went perfectly with the mellow flavors from the 🍄mushrooms, 🧈butter, 🧀parmesan (?) cheese flakes, and toasted 🍞bread. The bread was fresh, toasty, and not soggy (my pet peeve).

I forget the name of our waiter but her professionalism, kindness, and consideration gave this review its 5th star👍 Wait time was not bad at all!

I definitely will try the sweet French toast next time! 😋

Didn't try the sweet French Toast but the Smoked Salmon Benedict was "ooo la laaaa!" There's something about smoked salmon, poached eggs, and parsley combined that just hits the spot. The Savory French Toast is still my favorite dish though.

I love this place and everything about it. The food is so good and the workers are very nice people. I've ordered the salmon sandwich every time I've been there, I liked it more over a bagel than on a bread but both times were delicious. You have to give it a try!

Wonderful experience with friends at Grand Lake Kitchen. We shared the Sunday Chicken, which is roasted to order. Crisp skin and juicy tender flesh made this a success with us! Served with a Farmers Salad that was crisp, fresh, and complex. The chicken takes 45 minutes, so we shared a few appetizers including the did squash blossoms and house pickles.

We love this place, whether you go for brunch or dinner, they have lots of comfort food on the menu, but it's high quality ingredients so you don't have to feel bad after eating it. Also we love that it's dog friendly. The only drawback is that it's on a noisy street but that's not their fault and if you are dog-free, sitting inside is nice and cozy.

Cute little restaurant by the lake that's less than 15 minutes walking distance away from home. The service staff were pleasant and extremely attentive. The rye bread used for the French toast was tasty and super fluffy. The pastrami Benedict was delicious.

At first I thought it was over priced, but the portions are fair. My kids and I had plenty of brunch time leftovers. Beautiful outdoor atmosphere just across the street from Lake Merritt. It's a vibe. Food delicious.
