This was my very first visit to trails around Joaquin Miller Park, and Wow!! I'd put this in one of my favorite hikes within the Bay area.

It was a beautiful cool misty Saturday morning and felt like walking in a rainforest. Started the hike at 7.45 am and went on for 2 hours or so. I didn't follow any specific trail route. Parked at Redwood Glen trailhead and covered the following, and all are recommended:
-- Big Trees Trail
-- Orchards Trail
-- Sequoia Bayview Trail
-- Fern Ravine Trail
-- Sunset Trail
-- Wild Rose Trail (steep)

I was later told that cars might not be safe in this area, so I'd recommend parking in a paid lot instead.

A refuge from Urban craziness. Been hiking, walking here for 30 years. Daughter got married here, in the meadow. Favorite place to take my 7 year old grandson hiking. The meadow is a good place to fly kites. Dogs must be on leash. Some picnic tables are available throughout the park. There is a parking lot by the amphitheater or for the upper trails you can park along the road. Don't leave anything valuable in your cars!

Great place to feel like you're out of the bay.. quiet, tranquil and not too congested ( if you go early). Great views and exciting trails that all connect. The hiking maps are on a downloadable map so you cant get lost!

I Love how many trails there are to explore. What a magical place to be and to walk. The Sunset Trail was nice and easy, beautiful views and a lot of shady places to escape the heat. Looking forward to trying more trails 👣

One of the best parks in Oakland. Great hiking trails surrounded by redwoods. Also has a great view of Oakland, San Francisco, and the bay at Lookout Point.

Great park with lots of trails and beautiful scenery. There is also a small area for dogs to run around without a leash. Public restrooms are available. There is a nursery for plants on site as well. Amazing views of the bay. Highly recommended!

Dunne trail is my favorite trail that close to my house. A nice little trail that nice and quite when I need solitude. It can get a little crowded on fridays and the weekend. Plus it a off leashed trail for dogs which is a plus. The only thing I wish is that the trail be a little longer.

This park is gorgeous, it's huge and all of the scents in the atmosphere of the forest is just purifying. I have asthma but I always enjoy hiking here because of the clean fresh air. I've never encountered anyone rude here and I love that the public restrooms are well maintained. Also if you haven't noticed, the lady bug life there is just exquisite, such a site to see!

Love this park! Lots of beautiful views and trails to explore. I would love to see the City of Oakland put more money and effort into preserving it and making it a destination point as it was meant to be.

This has now become my ultimate favorite hiking spot! My friend and I visit weekly. We always park in the front so that we can do 2 sets of jogging up the stairs as a warm up.. So far we've gotten lost twice..haha. But we don't mind .. We like to get lost. Plus, Every trail leads to somewhere and that is how we are getting familiar with the Area. It really isn't easy to get lost.. If you stay on a specific trail you'll have no problem. But we like adventure and choose to take random cuts and turns. This past weekend we hiked for a good 5hours! Whooped our butts. But it was such a blast. Mixture of easy to moderately intense trails. Watch out for bicyclists there's many of them..going fast. But they're very nice and will give you a heads up when approaching.
Sooooooo many photo opportunities!!!!!!! Thats probably why we took 5hours lol
Theres a few areas where you will NOT get any cell reception.
Many picnic areas and bathrooms throughout the park.

All in all .. Defintely a bay area gem 💎💎💎

This park is a great place to bring dogs. There are two fenced-off dedicated dog play areas that always seem to have dogs there, and lots of surrounding trails with steep hills to get you and your dog a nice workout.

Always love this place. Great view of the bay, awesome place for a picnic. Decent bathrooms, and a wonderful place for a walk amongst the trees and view, with a healthy set of stairs to climb if you desire. Multiple fountains, sometimes they're full and running, sometimes they're not. Children's playgrounds and ball field as well. This place has it all on the edge of Oakland's hills..
