Flying Colors Comics & Other Cool Stuff

Haven't been in a comic book store in 30 yrs. Today, I took my son to Flying Comics. He lovvvveedd it. We spent an hr. Plus there. Everyone was super friendly & knowledgeable. Our experience was fantastic, thank you. We will definitely be coming back

Alright, now this LCS is not the largest one I've been too (it's rather cosy), but it does have a very engaging and friendly staff. On my first visit, I was asked if I needed help looking for anything and to feel free to reach out if I did which was nice. The place is well lit and very clean (which is always a plus, right?) One LCS I visited had the owner in a shirt at least 2 sizes too small eating his lunch and petting his dog behind the counter. The whole place smelled like wet fur and jalapeños. Really? But back to Flying Colors Comics! This place has many, many different ways to satisfy your inner nerd, from comics (duh), action figures, posters, games, lunch boxes, you name it. I've read that the owner of this place, Joe, is behind Free Comic Book Day so it all makes sense now. Pay them a visit and you will not walk out empty handed.

Great selection of current and vintage comics. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Founder of FREE COMIC BOOK DAY, a great annual event for the whole community, is great for kids, and SHOULD CONTINUE at this store for years to come. If you're reading this you should go there!

Best comic book store in the area. It's great there there are local shops like this. Their events are amazing for example they have a free comic book day where there's a very long line with food and you can see some superheros! (cosplay).

Always a good time at the local shop...Joe's the best and is always willing to go the extra mile.

Best place in the East Bay for all your comic book needs. Owner, Joe, is the man behind Free Comic Book Day, so you know this is the right place to be if you're new to comics or an OG fan.

Staff is very helpful and friendly. They will keep track of your comics if you like for any collectors out there. They're very knowledgeable on the products.

Great Customer Service and selection. Love this place

I took my daughter in the other day and she got to experience a true to life “comic book store conversation”. Some of the employees and patrons discussing/comparing various hero power sets. So good. I joined in a bit, but then noticed her get a little embarrassed, so I pulled back. Reminded me of the good old days.

I love coming to this place. Granted I haven’t been here in a while before Sunday but they always have exactly what I’m looking for. Came in wanting to just buy a Scott Pilgrim book but walked out with two additional books from some of my favorite. I’m so glad this place has been able to stay open. Will definitely be coming here more often.

Joe and his staff are top notch when it comes to customer service!!! You must check out this place if you are looking to buy or sell comics and/ or action figures.

Well I THOUGHT I’d left this review a long time ago, but it seems as though it’s only today I’m actually telling you how awesome Flying Colors Comics & Other Cool Stuff is! If you haven’t been in this ‘comics and more’ store within Oak Grove Plaza, come check them out.

I’m not personally much of a comic book person, but I can appreciate the collection they have here and the knowledgeable staff. I had a work project a few years back that involved the valuation of a collection of comic books (none of which turned out to be of much value) but the store owner was super nice and took his time looking them over and talking with me.

I live nearby, so sometimes I walk over just to browse the aisles a bit before stopping next door for ice cream or groceries. This unique store and it’s staff are definitely a fun contribution to our neighborhood and this plaza.

Exceptional customer service. Both experiences I had with Flying Colors exceeded my expectations. It would have been really easy for the staff to dismiss me due to my lack of comic knowledge. However, all of my questions were answered professionally and with courtesy. It was also obvious that the owner and the staff really know comics. Rare to find such a gem nowadays. Keep up the good work.

A clean, well lit comic shop. Joe Field (the owner) is a leader in the industry. The shop provides great selection to young and old. From classics to hot off the press. Flying Colors also offers great events from time to time with great artists and local hand made treats. The staff also is very friendly and has excellent knowledge of their trade.
If you are looking to get your child to read, comics are a great start. Flying Colors is the place to take them and the staff are the ones to lead you to the right book.
Remember the two countries with the highest literacy ratings (Germany and Japan) push comics on their children from a young age. It has a proven record to raise reading comprehension and acts to the brain the same as playing the piano.

The people running this place love comics. They know their stuff and have a great selection.
