The Shadelands Ranch House was the perfect venue for our wedding. After issues with our original venue, and being a little over 2 months out from our wedding, Shadelands luckily had a cancellation for our wedding day and we were able to fully move over and have our wedding there. We worked with Jackie leading up to the wedding. She was so accommodating and helpful with trying to make our vision come to life. She allowed us to come see the venue a few times before the wedding to make sure we knew where everything would be and how it would look day of. They also provided all tables and chairs, and had everything set up before our allotted rental time. The venue itself is beautiful and has many trees, the gazebo, flowers, and the amazing house. The venue is fully outdoors and our wedding day was much hotter than expected for an October wedding. However, they allowed us to set up fans and a portable air conditioner in the bridal suite to help with the heat. They provided a venue coordinator who was there day of to make sure everything was set up correctly and taken down at the end of the night. They also had a pumpkin patch going on in front of the house that they redirected traffic for and gave all the kids at our wedding tickets to go get their own pumpkins. We were also able to go over there to take photos which was so fun! Overall, we couldn’t have asked for a better venue and we loved working with Shadelands and their staff.

They are open for tours only on Wednesdays and Sundays from 1 pm to 4 pm. The parking is free. It is run by Walnut Creek Historical Society. Once we enter inside the tour guide takes us on the tour. They are very knowledgeable and passionate. The guide explained everything in detail and was patient enough to answer our questions.

$3/person for the docent tour (~45 min or so). Really nice experience: the house is beautiful and well-maintained; lots of interesting old items are inside. However, photos and video are not welcomed during the tour.

This little ranch is a truly time saving place for the family photo on your busy schedule. It is not a big farm with all play amenities but it has all small scale of pumpkin patch activities such as hayes maze, tiny farm animals, steam train. The entry fees is very affordable however you will buy ticketa to enjoy various section of patch for activities. The mobile restroom and limited free parking spots are available.

This is an adorable little venue. I had my wedding here in June of 2018. The staff were super helpful and friendly. The environment was very nice. The trees provide just the right amount of shade for a warm day. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who's looking for a venue

The Car Show was wonderful! Great classic cars, beautiful presentation, good food, and clean rest rooms. Enjoyed it and look forward to next one. Thank you to the organizers!

We went again this year for their annual holiday tea and crafts fair. We have been taking our granddaughters for ten years now. The museum is at it's Christmas time best and the tea is always delicious and always different. Our girls love this tradition and we would not miss it.

What a historical gem in Walnut Creek. I was delighted with our visit while there was a festival in the gardens. I was definitely transported to another time in our tour.

A very nice historical home, owned by one of the original settlers of Walnut Creek. Holiday tea parties are quite pleasant.

This is the little museum that could. It's set in a modest 2 bedroom house and you can't roam about the place on your own. Luckily, the tour guides and receptionists are one and the same and are as warm as they are knowledgeable.

Great holiday tea served in December to benefit this historic house and park. Also lots of Christmas crafts for sale. Reserve well in advance for the tea.

This Colonial Revival house filled with original furnishings is beautiful and the history of the Penniman family who built the house in 1902 is fascinating. The docents who led the tour were charming and very knowledgeable.

Beautiful historic house in Walnut Creek. Docent tours Wednesday and Sunday. A stroll through the grounds around the house is also great. Check both out!
