When I realized my Volvo needed an oil change it was only two days before a trip across three states — I should have planned better. I called Dave, explained the situation, and he squeezed the service into his already-full schedule. Maybe not a big deal, but try that at the factory dealer.

If only there were 6 stars to give! I drove down from Kirkland to hand them work on my 240, and THEY LET ME WATCH THEM DO IT.

Who does that? I do 90 percent of the work on my car, and honestly most of what was done was to repair my dumbassery.

Super reasonable prices, and implicit trust. Only downside is that they aren't in Kirkland, but stupid University Place. 🙂

I took my '91 Volvo 240 into Art Works for the first time a few weeks ago for an axle center-bearing replacement, as well as a power steering rack replacement. Both repairs were done in a timely manner, and the hourly labor rate was reasonable. Their customer service was excellent. I felt like a valued customer. They took the time to explain the issues, why the repair was needed, and were happy to explain some of the technical details when I showed an interest.

They went the extra mile when they saw my front tire tread was dangerously low, and installed a pair of loaner wheels to may sure my 240 stayed safe on the road.

I am glad to have found an independent shop that is knowledgable and meticulous. I'll happily take my Volvo here for maintenance and repairs in the future.

I brought my Volvo in for 150k service which was completed as scheduled . While picking it up started talking with Dave about my sons '99 Volvo and brake issues. Dave said to call ahead and if he was ok on time he would take a look at it. I did and I was blown away by his honesty and concern. Turns out the breaks were good. He pointed out some other issues to fix. He did all this on the premise that I was going to attempt fixing the car with my son. Not only did he show me the areas of concern, he told me what would be needed and how to fix it.

We have used Art Works for more then 14 years for our 4 Volvo’s. Dave has been amazing at teaching your daughter’s what needs to be done on their car’s and what to expect in the near future for planning purpose. Our daughters feel heard and have full trust they are being treated honestly and their car’s are well cared for. We know that when work is done it is done right and at a fair price.

Dave is a great mechanic who really cares. They have been my mechanic for over five years now, and I have no plans to find another. I'm planning on my next car being a Volvo mostly because I know that Art works is here to help me take care of it.

Our 91 240 Volvo broke down over the weekend and our roadside assistance towed it to the Volvo dealership in Tacoma. After we learned that the dealership was unable to help us due to not being able to use factory parts, I found Art Works Auto on google and called him up and had the car towed to Dave. He even told me to call back the roadside assistance to see if they would tow the car for free, as the dealership couldn't help us. Which I did and it ended up being free! I just figured they were going to charge me so I was going to try something else in the area.

Based on all the info we had, everyone was thinking it was the alternator. Dave was able to diagnose and fix the problem the same day, and as it turned out, it wasn't the alternator at all it was just that a wire from the alternator had worn and broke. Dave called me up and clearly explained the problem and only charged me for the labor to fix the wire which saved me 300 dollars.

Dave was straight up with me the whole time about what might be happening and the cost and time it would take to diagnose and fix. Dave even offered to pick me up from near by if I had to bus into the area to pick up the car.

I have had the vintage Volvo now for a little over a year and anyone who goes down that path knows its tough to find a mechanic that can just be reasonable.

Dave exceeded my expectations and really helped me out in a pinch after a weekend of stress and struggles.

Dave, if you read this, thank you my friend. I genuinely appreciate you just being a decent human being. You turned a pretty stressful trip home into a minor inconvenience.

I got into a fender-bender on the freeway and had to have my vehicle towed to a reputable looking dealership. I found Art Works through online reviews and had my Volvo S60 towed there to see what could be done. I was told the vehicle was beyond reasonable and safe repair, and was provided several options for removal. They were INCREDIBLY gracious before and during COVID-19 and allowed time for my wife and I to get our salvage title, find an option for removal that worked for us, and make sure we didn’t have to worry more than we already were. All Art Works asked was that we stay in communication with them and make sure they knew what was going on, and where we were in our process. Our family is a Volvo family, and if/when we have issues in the future, I will definitely be taking our vehicles here for service. Much love and appreciation for their shop’s professionalism, patience, and courteous service.

I don't think I've ever dealt with an auto shop that was as up front and straight shooting as Art Works. I had some strange noises coming from my brakes and budgeted $600 for a brake job. Shane found a rock stuck behind my rotor, removed it, and Dave wouldn't take a penny. He told me I had about 30% of my brakes left. No shop does that, you think? Dave and Art Works do that! These guys know Volvos and their goal is to get you back on the road safely and efficiently. Guess where I'm going when I really do need brakes...

Dave at Art Works is a friendly, upstanding guy that has given excellent service to both me and my husband's vehicles. Although Dave is a Volvo specialist, he was kind enough to perform an oil change for my Chevy Sonic this week. The service took less than hour and in addition to changing my oil he did an overall inspection of my vehicle and informed me of some minor things he noticed.

Dave at Art Works Volvo has previously worked on my 2007 XC-70. I was aware of (2) codes that had previously been found; I needed to sell the car. The buyer (who also has used Art Works for his Volvo) and I agreed to have Dave look at my Volvo. One code had not returned after being cleared several months previously. The other was still present, and one other minor issue was present. I sold the Volvo to this gentleman, and believe he will be happy! Thank you Dave, I feel that both of us were treated well and fairly.

Art Works is somewhere I heard about through word of mouth, I've since gone to other Volvo repair shops and can assure you. This is the place! I've had my Volvo for almost a year now, and driving around town I was told by other enthusiasts if i ever needed to take my Volvo somewhere, to take it to art works. I am a bit of a mechanic, and spent about 40 hours working on my car myself, after making a few mistakes, I brought my car to Art Works. This place of business helped me out reasonably, affordably, and professionally. A car thats been messed with is every mechanics worst nightmare, they're hard to sort out, but not at Art Works. I have received excellent help great customer service, kindness and useful knowledge about my car. Art Works is definitely the best place in the area to have your Volvo serviced. I had my vehicle towed here all the way from Bremerton because there is no one else I trust with my Volvo XC70. Dave is very knowledgeable when it comes to Volvos. He is also very trustworthy and fair when it comes to price. He definitely has the customers best interest in mind and will always leave the final decision up to the customer. He is very transparent and will always update you on the status of your vehicle. There is no one else I will take my Volvo to.

Dave is great and very honest in his dealings with you. If you need work done on an older Volvo this is the place to take your car. They also can do non-Volvo cars. I just had them do brakes for a Mazda.
