Two benches and a bike rack

A+ benches, A+ bike rack. The benches are wonderful after a long bike ride, and the rack held up my bike perfectly. A squirrel did try and steal my nuts I had brought as a snack, watch out for him.

Fun little place along the trail... My wife and I were sitting on a bench one day and shared a laugh with a young man who had a hilarious interaction with a squirrel! Ample space on the rack for our banana bike too! Be sure to check this out if you are ever in town. Watch out for cranky squirrels!

After a long and exhausting day in Gig Harbor, I found myself yearning for a moment of respite. My legs were sore from all the exploring and my brain felt like it had gone through a marathon of random facts about the city. So, when I stumbled upon a little corner with two benches and a bike rack, it felt like I had discovered an oasis in the middle of a concrete desert.

With great relief, I plopped down onto one of the benches, letting out a dramatic sigh that could have won me an Oscar for Best Overwhelmed Tourist Impersonation. Little did I know that this serene spot had other plans for me.

As I settled into my seat, a mischievous squirrel appeared out of nowhere, eyeing me as if I had just invaded its secret nut hoard. It chattered at me in what I could only assume was squirrel-speak, probably saying something like, "Hey, buddy, this bench is reserved for us tree-dwelling creatures. Find your own spot!"

Ignoring the furry dictator, I attempted to take off my backpack and accidentally knocked over my water bottle in the process. The bottle rolled down the slope of the bench, turning my peaceful haven into a slippery water park ride. The squirrel, sensing an opportunity for amusement, hopped onto the water-slicked bench and zoomed down, his tiny paws barely holding on for dear life. I couldn't help but burst into laughter at the sight of this unexpected squirrel rollercoaster.

Meanwhile, a couple who had been observing the whole spectacle from the other bench burst into laughter as well, joining me in this impromptu comedy show. We exchanged amused glances, united by our shared amusement at the absurdity of the situation.

Feeling adventurous, I decided to explore the bike rack adjacent to the benches. To my surprise, it wasn't just any ordinary bike rack; it was a gathering place for quirky bicycles. There was a tandem bike painted like a giant banana, a unicycle with rainbow streamers, and even a bike with a miniature garden attached to its handlebars. I couldn't resist the urge to pose for a photo with these pedal-powered works of art.

As I attempted to strike a fabulous pose beside the banana bike, my overconfidence got the better of me. I lost my balance, stumbling sideways and crashing into the unicycle. I'm pretty sure I heard it let out a disgruntled sigh as if to say, "Oh great, another clumsy human."

Despite the mishap, I couldn't help but laugh at my own expense. The couple on the bench joined in once again, doubling over with mirth. We were like a trio of comedy enthusiasts, bonded by a series of bizarre and hilarious events.

After regaining my composure, I finally managed to find my balance and sat back on the bench. The squirrel, seemingly tired of its adrenaline-fueled adventure, hopped onto the backrest of the other bench and settled down, casting me one last disapproving look.

As I reflected on the rollercoaster ride that this simple corner had taken me on, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the unexpected laughter and the reminder that sometimes the most delightful moments come from the most ordinary places. And so, with a contented smile on my face, I bid farewell to the two benches, the bike rack, and the squirrel, knowing that I had experienced a day in Gig Harbor that would forever bring a chuckle to my heart.

I've been to many places. Some with no benches, some with few. Amongst all, two benches and a bike rack definitely holds its promise. It does not disappoint.

This is exactly as advertised. If you were on the cushman trail and you thought "I need a place to sit down and rest after biking" then this would be your place.

It is two whole benches and a bike rack, primed and ready. Simply walk up, put your bike on the rack if you need to, and sit down and you will experience all that these benches can offer.

It is a nice area, very relaxing. You can sit there and chill with or without your bike, and since there are two benches, you can even bring a friend!

Definitely worth the visit.
