Absolutely loved the food here. The owner still runs the place after 30+ years and brings the same energy to every table. We with the owners recommendation and it was amazing.
The kind of innovation with very old ingredients from India that are forgotten is just mind blowing.

I didn't like the dessert as I don't like artificial sweeteners taste.

Definitely recommend.

This was my second time here after many years. We tried curried sweet potatoes enchiladas and it tasted amazing and spicy. We also tried their ravioli which was vegan.
The owner and the staff are very friendly.
Highly recommend them if you are in Sausalito

Having read some of the lower reviews (because I was shocked to see them), I want to clarify that Avatar's is not STRICTLY an Indian restaurant. They are #fusion, and explicitly and proudly say on their menu that they are the proud purveyors of ethnic confusion since....I forget the year, but it always makes me grin.

The owner and his whole family are an absolute delight! I have been going here for about 6 years, never once had a glutening, and always have incredibly delicious food and excellent service.

I would tell you what I order, but I don't know, lol, I often just left Ashook (sorry if I am spelling it incorrectly) surprise me. Which is a strong testament to the amazing perfection of everything on the menu. This is the only place where I would let someone choose my meal for me lol.

Their new outdoor patio area is super cute and spacious.

Amazing service great fusion food. Being an Indian its difficult to vouch for good Indian food but I’ve to say i wasn’t disappointed a bit. The food had great flavours and great mix of different veggies and proteins. The host is amazing and a great entertainer. One of the few fusion restaurants with no egg vegetarian food!!

For foodies like me, this place is paradise. Totally different kind of fusion food. The owner has been in the gastronomy industry for 33 years, he told us. The ingredients used in his dishes are only healthy and good stuff. The starters had three kinds of sauces in different flavors. The enchiladas with chicken & also prawns were flavorful. No sugars or white flour used in their cooking. The Avatar’s Dream dessert is phenomenal. And the service is very hood. The food arrived in less than 10 minutes. Fast & efficient. This place is a MUST. Highly recommendable. Five stars and more! ⭐ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Indian food with a twist!

If you are looking for fusion food with Indian flavors, it's a superb place to go. We have been here several times over the last two years. They have both indoor/outdoor dining. Their owner/staff Ashok is a very friendly guy. If you are vegetarian you must try their Mix-Veg Enchilada. We also like Punjab on the Gondola and Chicken Enchilada/plate.

They have an original dessert, Avatar's Dream and it's must try.

Came here after a nice day out in the Marin.

Good:
- Superb service - what a kind staff here!
- Food came out SO QUICKLY - it was honestly so impressive how quickly they were able to bring out each entree as soon as we ordered.
- The mango lassi here was incredible - really good pair with the mild spicy food
- The best samosas I've had in a while - the texture of each bite was impeccable
- The enchilada was so so tasty and the sauce it came with was really good
- Tasty soup and paratha - loved just picking and eating at the paratha

Bad:
- Wasn't a big fan of the chicken curry - it was a bit dry and also really just chunky
- More of a causal ambiance so nothing special about the interior design

Overall this was a great place to go and so happy we found this on Instagram reels!

Great Authentic Indian food, unlike any I have eaten. Supreme quality of food & great variety of food. Can come across as pricey. Customer service was fantastic & we really enjoyed. There's bunch of options for Vegetarians. The quantity was quite low. Overall, had a great time with the family. Good option close to the Muirwoods.

Where to start! This restaurant was amazing! Wonderful food, great people, and a homey feel. The owner told us he’d give us the best shrimp meal we’ve ever had, and he was right. The “heavenly experience” dessert lived up to its name. Couldn’t have picked a better dinner spot.

The vegetarian Samosa was so delicious! The people here are humble and welcoming! One of the best restaurants in Sausalito. I have never had Mexican- Indian Fusion cuisine in my life. A life-changing experience was offered and delivered!

This place was recommended by a good friend of mine 10 years ago but never had the chance to come here. Finally, I had the opportunity to eat at this restaurant today. The items I ordered were mouth watering and delicious. The curried mushroom starter and the lentil soup were very delicious and perfectly seasoned. The Punjabi enchiladas (both the rock shrimp and the Jamaican Jerk Chicken variety) were excellent and flavorful. The fusion enchilada sauce with the Mexican/Indian flavor combination was a treat with the healthy tortillas made from millet and healthy grains
The Avatar’s dream dessert looked like a cheese cake but had a totally different taste and was divine with mild sweetness.
Finally the sugarless masala chai was the icing on the cake to finish an excellent lunch.

The lunch service was fast and the owner was very friendly. Overall, I would give a five star thumbs up to this place. I will definitely visit again to taste other menu items.

Delicious sweet potato enchiladas and shrimp with eggplant and pasta. Got mild but was still a little spicy. Wish they were open all afternoon like Mill Valley branch.

Lovely experience at Avatars. GF had a salad with plain chicken while I had their famous salmon enchiladas. I think the tangy nature of the sauce comes from a reduced curry mix, salt and lime pickle. The hybrid Mexican / Indian theme is something that’s becoming bigger and bigger in the Bay. Good friendly service.

I think the first time I stepped into Avatar's was more than a decade ago. Since then I have left the Bay Area but whenever I am back, I try to make sure I stop by. The quality and creativity you see with every dish has been consistently high in my experience from that first time I got to sample Avatar's offerings. The flexibility is great too - whatever you want, they will create for you.

We had heard alot about this restaurant and we finally made it. Do try their Samosa and butter chicken enchilada. The lady owner is very kind and she makes custom dishes for people who have dietary constraints.loved the warmth of the restaurant. However, one pointer is, be early if you're heading for a peak time. It gets crowded really quick.

First time having Indian food..
There was a party in my mouth..loved every bite. Food, service, n atmosphere was awesome. Will go again.

Chef is really welcoming and accommodating. He was able to make Jain (no root vegetables) dishes like Enchiladas, Ravioli, Stir Fry and Samosas. All of them tasted great. Dishes definitely are on the expensive side but worth going once in a while

Love the vibe. Great service. Has the right ratio of hole in the wall, fresh and delicious, and fantastic service with lots of interactions with the owners. The type of place that can’t be replicated. It’s a must try/ frequent.

' Guess the vegetable' game was awesome. I don't think one could ever go to any restaurant where you are prepared to be surprised by the chef AND also be sure that he understands your taste and dietary/ religious restrictions. Really amazed by what a small family owned Indian restaurant has achieved! Lovely people, the entire family! They took care of us at every step!

Second time again and it felt as refreshing as the first time. We didn't order and the owner made whatever he thought would work for us. All great selections.
