The way through here is one way so you need to follow the maps to make a wide circle. This is a former battery site. A light hike going to the viewpoint. Totally i could say the best spot to take your Golden State Bridge photoop. Relaxing wide space with the view of the city. Parking space is limited though. See images and videos for further reference

Beautiful view! It was actually breathtaking to see the Golden Gate Bridge in all its glory. If you're going with a partner, take a lock up with you. Super cute additional activity.

I visited Battery Spencer in San Francisco yesterday and it was a breathtaking experience. The battery is a historic military site that offers stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the city skyline. It is located on a hilltop along Conzelman Road, which is a scenic drive with many overlooks and photo spots.

The battery itself is a fascinating place to explore, as it has several old buildings and structures that date back to the late 1800s and early 1900s. You can see the remains of the gun emplacements, the ammunition storage, and the generators that powered the battery. There are also some informational signs that explain the history and significance of the battery in the defense of the San Francisco Bay.

One of the most interesting features of the battery is the locks on the top, which are padlocks that people have attached to the fence as a symbol of their love or friendship. There are hundreds of locks of different shapes, sizes, and colors, each with a unique message or name. It is a fun and romantic gesture that adds a touch of whimsy to the place.

But the main attraction of the battery is, of course, the view of the Golden Gate Bridge. It is one of the best viewpoints for the iconic bridge, as you can see it from a close distance and a high angle. You can also see the bay, the city, and the hills in the background. The view is especially beautiful at sunset, when the bridge and the sky are illuminated by warm colors. It is a sight that you will never forget.

Battery Spencer is a must-see for anyone who loves history, nature, and photography. It is a place where you can enjoy the mesmerizing views, learn about the past, and make some memories. It is a place where you can feel the magic of San Francisco.

In my opinion, this spot offers the most spectacular view of the Golden Gate Bridge. The journey up here is just as breathtaking, with a scenic route that showcases the beauty of the surroundings. It's truly a feast for the eyes every step of the way. 🌁🌿

Standing at Battery Spencer, you're greeted with a view that is truly unparalleled, where the grandeur of the Golden Gate Bridge meets the vast, untamed beauty of the Pacific Ocean. This historic military site, once intended for coastal defense, now serves as one of the most stunning viewpoints in San Francisco. The panoramic scenes from here are not just views; they're a spectacle of engineering marvel set against the natural beauty of California's coastline.

As you gaze out from this elevated perch, the Golden Gate Bridge stretches below, a testament to human ingenuity, framed by the rugged headlands on one side and the city's skyline on the other. The sight of the bridge, whether shrouded in the city's famous fog or gleaming under the golden sun, is truly mesmerizing, offering a different experience with each visit.

Battery Spencer provides not only a breathtaking viewpoint but also a moment of reflection on the history and natural beauty that define this iconic region. It's a place where photographers, tourists, and locals alike gather to capture the essence of San Francisco, making it a must-visit for anyone looking to experience the heart and soul of the city. The combination of historical significance, natural beauty, and awe-inspiring views makes Battery Spencer an unforgettable destination.

TLDR: come for the sunrise and you won’t be disappointed!

Even if Karl the Fog is lurking, most of the time coming here will get you above the fog and to see the sunrise. There is sufficient parking in front as well as nearby so feel free to park closer. There’s plenty of space for many people to enjoy the sunrise, go catch the views of the SF skyline and the Golden Gate Bridge as well!

Back in the early 1900s, Battery Spencer was one of the main protection points for the San Francisco Bay. It featured multiple lookout points that were operated by the military and a few buildings for housing the generators and shells. It was used on and off until World War II when a lot of it was scrapped for war efforts. Today it is just a piece of history that you can walk around and enjoy.

I've visited Battery Spencer in Golden Gate several times, and each visit leaves me in awe of the outstanding views it offers. The panoramic view of the Golden Gate Bridge is simply breathtaking. Although there's a short hike involved, it's entirely worth it, and the trail is manageable for all. Surprisingly, even with a good number of visitors, it never feels crowded, allowing for a peaceful experience.

Parking can be a bit limited up front, but there are ample street-side parking spaces available. It's essential to be cautious and avoid leaving valuables in your car, as break-ins are unfortunately common in tourist areas like these.

For those who enjoy hiking or biking, the road leading up to Battery Spencer is a popular route. It adds an extra layer of adventure to the experience and provides an opportunity to explore the natural beauty surrounding this iconic spot.

With that being said Battery Spencer is a must-visit destination for anyone in San Francisco area looking for one of the best views of Golden gate bridge.

Today was a very sunny day, no wind and a very blue sky. It was the perfect day to see San Francisco by the “other side”.
Free very disputed parking.
Stunning view.
It was the best compared to all the other Golden Gate vista points.
Unfortunately they haven’t preserved well old militar point it was in the past.

Ambience: cool weather, even gloomy days makes you happy at this place, eye pleasing, romantic, family friendly.
Parking: few free street parking easily available, we were there on Friday at 2 pm.
Google picture: not overrated. All parkings near are free and on the street.
Recommendation: carry a sweater for cool temperature if you’re planning to stay here for at least half an hour especially if you’re not use to of the SF weather. Park once you’re near battery Spencer (walking distance) because it’s a one way street and parking may not be available on weekend or near the viewpoint.
Note: this video isn’t edited, I was here at gloomy day. No ticket required, free parking.

Best place to take photos!

What should you expect:
muddy walkway (it is an abandoned military place, and it rains a lot)
Letrine style toilets
Fog and or rain

Big and bold ravens!!

The best place to take the perfect photo of the Golden gate! Just remember this: need to go expecting some time to find parking and they do have bathrooms but are not clean

A really great little walk with a lovely view of the bridge. An interesting place to see some old ruins also.

First time came to the observation deck, I think it is best spot to view the golden bridge, even was cloudy day we still able to get quiet a few very good shots of bridge, I can’t imagine how great views would be in sunny days. It’s very easy-accessible, you can drive and bike to there with short walk to the top, very windy at the top, bright a jacket and watch your hat is great idea. At almost 500 feet above the bay, this high cliff-top vantage point was a prime location for big coastal defense guns when the army was there.
