Always fun visiting this store store (even just for window shopping) I would like to give the staffs 6 stars. They were all so happy at their work. They were so helpful, friendly, polite and attentive. There was a male staff told us “Thank you for being our customer.” That was another level of customer service. I never heard anyone or anywhere saying that to customers before except the world class airline. I was really appreciated that nicety.

What a great place. It was Sunday, the place was bumpin! In the parking lot outside there was a lightly used/return sale with hundreds of amazing items. Inside, every employee was helpful and knowledgeable - especially a young man who assisted me in the hiking backpack section. He was patient and very knowledgeable, not to mention kind!

The woman in the shoe department was extremely helpful. I feel bad I didn’t buy any shoes because she helped size my foot and checked stock on all the boots I was trying. Hopefully the shoe department does not work of commission. Sorry!

Peter is a stud. This time of year it sounds like he works the ski shop but he also dabbles in mountain bike repair as well. If it wasn't for him I wouldn't have signed up for a membership and he also helped me get the proper gear I needed for my trip (helped me with base layers and me and my gf got some new Burton snow pants). Our boards came out of the shop looking great and he was really patient with all my questions. I could have swore he was a manager of the shop based on his expertise, sales ability (not pushy at all, just helpful) and his general great attitude. REI is great... because of people like Peter.

This place is THE tots bourgeoisie outdoor equipment store. Such nice gear, incredible options, high-end outdoor brands. It’s like the Louis Vuitton and Prada of camping, but with much better engineered and designed products (with, or without, tacky color schemes).

It is my favorite store to browse through.

But I can’t buy much because I just cannot justify paying the MSRP for everything.

Sometimes sales bring the prices down to a more breathable oxygenation level of our atmosphere. But usually the same items have been picked through and it’s just the crumbs that have fallen off the masters’ table that are left. Also, some sale items are literally just broken and unusable- still they charge you for the privilege of removing the broken garbage from the premises- one man’s garbage will still cost a sizable ransom at REI. I do not understand why they still try to sell broken returns, it’s not like they are dealing with tight margins at this store.

Despite my own struggles with paying highest possible dollar for gear designed by yuppies in Seattle and produced in the world’s sweatshops and clothed in labels riddled with virtue signaling phrases such as ‘sustainable’ , ‘organic’ , and ‘earth friendly’ —- it seriously is the best possible location to peruse such freakishly awesome gear the world has ever seen (‘cause that’s all I can afford to do at REI— I certainly can’t afford to purchase anything — browsing this store is like a rush of serotonin, like dreaming of winning the lottery without ever buying a ticket because the prices are fantastically high).

You’d literally need to make somewhere between $300k and $500k per year to afford to outfit a family of four at this place. If you’re single and make above $100k —-this place is for you.

Go get some!

I had the most pleasant experience at the rei in San Diego. I needed some shoes while traveling from Tijuana Mexico to Victoria Canada. I had a blow out in my hiking boots while walking up the one. I was without a phone and without hope. Jessica was a beautiful ray of sunshine. She smiled and fully educated myself on what would work best with my journey. I confided in her in the midlife crisis I was having and she gave me the best life advice and shoe advice. Also we had a full conversation about haribo gummy Bears and her hair is fantastic. I will 10 out of 10 be there again and recommend her and the store to anyone going to San Diego.

I can't say enough about REI, great customer service!!! The best return policy ever. Great inventory and if they don't have it they will order for you in a snap.
The San Diego, store seems to be a completely different attitude than they Rancho Cucamonga, store. I travel to the S.D. store even though it's further just because of how well you are taken care of at that location.
I highly recommend REI, San Diego.

Went in to get my son's hooves sized for new ski boots, and Nick was knowledgeable and helpful. He also helped with suggestions for bindings & etc, which was very appreciated.

I've been going here for years. I Love this place.. I could spend hours looking at the clothing and camping gadgets and stuff..Their return policy is Costco like! If I had one complaint it would be the prices but you do get 10% back being a member. But all in all you get what you pay for!

It's the biggest REI I have come across in San Diego. The staff is very helpful and currently they practice the mask mandate so please bring a mask. The Saturday garage sale for members at pretty consistent and I recently bought an Osprey Kestrel bag for $144 from thw garage sale. The bag was great quality and the staff help me make sure it was the perfect fit

Plenty of staff members to help, great shoe/sneaker selection, and two floors of so much great material not only for camping! Bought my items, fast checkout, and left pleased. Convenient entrance and plenty of parking.
