Okawa Steak House & Sushi

Stopped here randomly on a Saturday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised they had a lunch menu! I got the hibachi scallop and samurai steak with fried rice (they do charge extra for fried rice versus steamed rice).

Service was great, very attentive staff. Loved the hibachi grill show!

We decided to try on Jan 1st 2024 , this little Japanese place after years of being curious. We made a reservation for the hibachi table at 1 pm. We were pleasantly surprised! Very nice annd clean inside, and was welcomed with a smile. It’s not often you are welcomed with a smile anywhere these days. They took our drink order, brought us a very crisp and fresh salad with delicious ginger dressing, and a very good warm soup. The chef was amazing at grilling our food. We had the hibachi steak and shrimp with fried rice. We also ordered a California roll which was delicious! Very well done. Great quality food that was cooked to perfection. Tasted so good !!! Costumer service was excellent. Reasonable prices too. It has been a challenge for us to find a A+ Japanese restaurant. We are so excited to have found this secret jem in the rough. This will now be our new go to .

Combo comes with rice (or friend rice for surcharge), miso soup, salad, noodles, and your two meets
Friend's birthday and they were kind to bring out two scoops of decorated ice cream with a lit candle!

This is an awesome little place tucked into a very low key location! We made reservations for the hibachi table for 6, recommended but walk ins can also be seated at open tables, and were seated right away. Being a Sunday night, it was busy the entire time.
Staff were terrific, from the moment we were seated we were taken care of with drinks, appetizers, main orders, refills, check ins, and entertainment.
Daniel was our chef, he was upbeat, warm, funny, and very entertaining with the cooking and Shenanigans.
Great quality of steaks, seafood, and chicken, all cooked to your preference and flavored beautifully -its a good portion of food too, if you have the will power to leave some they make excellent leftovers. 😉 They also have items not hibachi, such as a good variety of sushi rolls (cooked & raw), noodles, rices, soups.
Plenty of easy close parking and quick access to the freeway.

I eat here way too often, mostly for takeout, but sometimes I grab a table. They only take reservations for hibachi, so the regular tables are first come, first served. Prices are reasonable for decent portions and always tastes fresh. I mostly order the same items over and over with slight variations. The only thing that's ever been disappointing before was the miso soup. Most of the time, it's good, but once in a while, it tastes too watered down. I wouldn't take a star away for it, though, since it's few and far between. Hibachi servings are huge! When we've done that option, we had ample leftovers to bring home.

Think Benihanas but local. Portions are decent, food and service are excellent!

They cook right in front of you! The food was delicious, the staff were very friendly and the atmosphere was calm and inviting. I took home leftovers and the leftovers even tasted good. It's definitely worth the price. I will DEFINITELY be going back in the future.

The food is good and flavorful. They give good portions for the price as well.

The service is also really good. Both the hostess and the waiters are really nice. The servers are on top of taking used dishes out of the way and refills. The chefs also do a good job keeping the table entertained and of course, making the food.

The place is very clean, including the bathrooms. Which is nice. I hate going to places where everything is perfect but the bathrooms are gross. So, that's definitely a plus.

Food was good and it was entertaining for sure. The only bad thing if you don't have a full table at the hibachi they fit people in with your group.

Great local spot! Our first time here, and we were pleasantly surprised. We decided last minute to try a new place near home (Santee), and opted for Okawa Sushi.

Glad we did. It was date night so we enjoyed the ambience, romantic lighting and the option to sit with group at hibachi grill or privately at table for 2. We opted for table for 2. I ususally only sit at booths (even if I have to wait a long time), but they have none...unfortunately.

You can also sit at the sushi bar which is a nice option for more social people (unlike me.. lol). It was kinda noisy, but good vibes and happy customers and staff. Don't come for a quiet meal.

We ordered veggie fried noodles, avocado roll customized to a jalepeno roll, sweet potatoe roll, house salad and mochie ice creams. Enough good vegetarian options, and all that for under $30 (not including tip). Food was fresh, good, and brought out fast!

It was a nice experience and we will definitely go back.

Came here on a Thursday at 5 pm. That was the most perfect time to go since a couple minutes later, the whole restaurant got filled.

We love getting the combo plate for 2. It includes two sets of soup, salad, rice, noodles, shrimp, chicken, and steak. I could not get a picture of my plate since they give you the food items one by one. Too delicious to wait!

I also like the presentation of how they make the food. And funny ways they interact while making the food. It's a special place to go with my family and definitely look forward to going back.

Okawa Steak House located in Santee is delicious. I ordered the sweetie roll, which is the pretty one and the Santee roll. They were both delicious. We sat at the sushi bar area. They also have seating were you can get sushi or many other things on their menu.
They do have large tables were they cook in front of you. Yes, like Bennihannas but smaller. All diners were enjoying the show and there food.
I strongly suggest trying Okawa.
You wont be disappointed!!!

Not into the hibachi thing? Then grab dinner at a normal table or join friends for a sushi lunch at the bar!!!! Price is great too!!!

Too much fun, food was prepared right before our eyes, it was delicious, the chef was fun and entertaining. If you bring young children you should warn them about the fire, just before he starts cooking. Great place to bring people that are visiting from out of town!!!
