Roma Deli

For me, San Mateo has always been a town I drive past while on my way to some other place. My pal Rossmoore Straightshaft had just moved his production facility from Santa Monica to San Mateo to be closer to his customer base. He promises me the best Italian sandwiches in the country from the Roma Deli for my help setting up his Plattromitor machine so he can get busy making those Wallydoodles and Wacknutters.
I'll tell you....nothing beats a good old fashioned Italian submarine sandwich, and the Rona Deli makes about the best out there. ☆☆☆☆☆

was in the mood for a sandwich and after reading some reviews decided to come in and try. i was greeted and assisted with my order by a really nice man. i got the new york. it was delicious as well as the potato salad. i ended up getting a large and it was huge. you can really tell they care with the quality of food and service they’re giving.

What in the actual other worldly wow is this?? After being sorely disappointed trying a burrito at some forgettable Mexican place in San Mateo last night, I felt I should stick with sandwiches, and I am so happy I decided to come here!

I ordered the large Salsalito Turkey Supreme which comes with jalapeño pepper jack and this Cajun Aoli sauce... I also got it on toasted Soft French loaf... YESSSS

The veg is chilled and fresh and the meat cheese and bread toasty and warm, the contrast with warm and cold is nit something sandwich shops really ever can quite figure out. They got it here!

The lettuce is shredded which I prefer, tomatoes are nice BIG fat slices.. I was thinking of asking them to swap the jalapeño pepper jack with Swiss, but I am so glad I didn't tell them to do that. Keep it just as they make it, it's so worth it *****

For the large sandwich, which they walked out to me, when they placed it in front of me my first reaction was to say "oh... that is indeed a very large sandwich, thats great!" and she just laughed

The LG sandwich a bag of chips (normal size not small) and 2 canned sodas it was $23! That is way acceptable.. I paid $25 for that garbage burrito I ended throwing half away of last night.

I moved to Boston from San Bruno 15 years ago, and I still think about the Italian sandwiches here. The garlic pesto sauce was unforgettable and I crave it every time I get an Italian here (yes even after this long and nothing compares)! If the owners are reading this, do you think I could get the recipe? 😆 I’m so glad you guys are still open, I hope one day I can come back and have another!!!

Great skills in Sandwich making, they are super fast and you don't have to wait long, chip selection is great and some unique chips too like those Festive Corn cheetohs, and has a nice home style atmosphere. Great Hot Pastrami sandwiches. I would recommend a Large one and Dutch crunch, best combo 👌

Great deli in downtown San Bruno. Their bread and sauces are awesome! I ordered a signature Turkey sandwich on Dutch Crunch bread (which is baked locally). Very friendly staff. The owner came and asked me how the food was. Perfect! Thank you.

Best sandwich in town... must try...

In the neighborhood and decided to get a sandwich at Roma's. I ordered Hot Pastrami on Rye. Bread to meat to veggie ratio was absolutely perfect! Staff was friendly and very accommodating as I forgot to ask for jalapenos. But they have to me on the side anyways.

The Best Sandwich ever made. Chris knows what he's doing! Get the turkey deluxe on Dutch crunch , extra garlic pesto, add jalapeños!

One of the best sandwiches in the Bay Area. A must try. You won’t be disappointed.

Wow-we needed a quick sandwich after leaving the airport and I found this place on Google Maps. We split a large albacore tuna sandwich on a sourdough roll and it was delicious, HUGE and blew us away. Now I’m just sad that it’s not in my neighborhood, but we’ll be back! 10/10

Great deli, sandwiches were amazing and HUGE. We stopped in after flying all day, very convenient from airport with ample parking in back. Will be going back tomorrow! We had and recommend the NewYorker and roast beef sandwiches on sourdough and the potato salad was delicious!

Love the sandwich! Omg super good. Nice and clean. Not oily or greasy. They didn't skimp on the meat. Place is clean, fresh meat and ingredients. Great friendly service.

Fantastic Italian sandwich. The garlic pesto spread is a very nice touch. Reasonably priced. I would highly recommend this deli and will definitely be back if I ever find myself in the Southern San Francisco area again.

Excellent sandwiches. Breads are fresh and nice quality. They use tasty real meats, which are way better than the cold cuts at chain stores like Subway. Their house special garlic herb sauce adds a nice touch. This is a family business and can be a little slow at lunchtime on weekdays.

Roma Deli is a staple here in San Bruno and for good reason. They have excellent service and delicious sandwiches. The ingredients are fresh and the portion sizes are large. Also, they have probably the best chip selection I've ever seen in restaurant. Go here...you won't be disappointed!

Absolutely love this deli! I got the pastrami sandwich (my go-to order when i try out a new place) and Roma Deli did not disappoint. In fact, they exceeded all expectations. The bread is fresh, the meat is generous and tasty. And the workers were genuinely interested in my satisfaction, since they asked if there was any way they can improve the sandwich.
The next time I visited, I got the clam chowder. The chowder was delicious, a generous portion and perfectly seasoned.
Looking forward to trying out their other sandwiches and meals.

Really fine sub sandwich! The Dutch Crunch bread is a winner. I had a Turkey Deluxe and it was sooo flavorful!

I’ve been going to Romas for about 8+ years. This has been one of my go to sandwich places in the Bay Area. One will say it’s either Mr. Pickles or Little Luccas but Romas is hands down the best! Peppered Turkey on Dutch crunch is my usual but I’ve tried a couple of other ones that are also worth getting. If im willing to switch my usual up then you know it’s good!

Freshly sliced, made-to-order sandwiches are delicious. Friendly staff, but the interior hasn't changed since 1979 - it makes for a great atmosphere
