Can do North Peak via Montara Mointain Trail from here, gorgeous views of the bay on a sunny day, you can also see towards Half Moon Bay and San Francisco. Amazing ocean views all round.

The hike is about 7 miles round trip and doable in about 4 hours of moderate hike.

Gets pretty steep towards the end but all in all a manageable hike.

Parking costs $6 and they only accept cash.

It took my breath away when my son and I first hiked at San Pedro Valley Park one early morning. The smell of the fresh eucalyptus trees blended into the cool morning mist of the Pandora forest covered with magical white clouds over the mountain. I love nature, and I do a lot of hiking in Colorado mountains. I have never seen such a magical sight of a forest covered with beautiful blue, green, and red foliage of the eucalyptus trees. This is the best and favorite park I am so passionate about, and I will always hike in San Pedro Valley Park whenever I come to visit my son in Pacifica, San Francisco.

Been coming the this park for years, it's beautiful. They have plenty of trailer to hike , picnic areas and a rental spot for events. I grew up 5 minutes away and even though I now live in a different city is still come here for walks a few times a month.

My first hike of 2023 ! Parking was $6. We picked hazelnut trail. And started about 11am. Trailhead starts from the parking lot and loops to return at the other side of the lodge. There were a lot of mushrooms so we stopped quite a bit. I logged 10,000+ steps for 2+ hours hike.
Great day! I didn’t need to wear my windbreaker.

Well maintained county park with plenty of parking. There is a $6 fee for the parking, but that often means available spots well into late morning. I hiked using the Hazelnut trail and the Valley View trail for a 6 mile loop. The Hazelnut trail rose about 700 ft in elevation to 1000ft. The trail was surrounded by thick brush and some trees with clusters here and there. At no point was the trail too difficult. I would rate it as moderate with plenty of switchbacks. There are various nice views of the surrounding valleys and off to the Pacific. There was not a great deal of foot traffic and I never saw any horses or biking but those are allowed. The ranger at the gate was super friendly and offered me a map for navigation. I would recommend this park for families and picnics. The loop I hiked only took me a little over 2 hours, but set aside 3 just in case. At the end I saw 5 deer having a picnic of their own which was a nice cap to a great morning.

I’ve visited this wonderful Pacifica park in previous years for hiking. I’ve enjoyed most of the trails, which are well marked and maintained. A map is available both on the website and at the park. Entry is $6 per vehicle but I have an annual pass that has been well worth the donation (includes entry to many San Mateo County parks). Today’s pictures are of hiking Old Trout Farm trail to Brooks Creek Trail, connecting with Montara Mountain Trail up to the summit of Montara Mountain. The trail up to Montara Mountain leaves San Pedro Valley Park, entering McNee Ranch State Park above Montara Beach. These switchbacks become more narrow with looser rocks, but is a doable ascent with proper shoes (and poles, if available to you). The trail connects with Montara Mountain Road. To the right descends to McNee Ranch. To the left ascends to the radio tower and to a trail along the ridge. I climbed up to the radio tower and retraced my steps, following the Montara Mountain Trail back to the parking lot. Happy hiking!

Very well-maintained park that is worth visiting in all seasons. On a sunny winter day, it can be surprisingly warm on the Hazelnut trail (4 mile loop with about 900 feet of elevation gain). In summer, fog and clouds can give dramatic lighting effects on the green hills. This is an interesting place to see how invasive eucalyptus trees can be, crowding out the native coastal plants in some areas.

This is a San Mateo County Park nested inside of Pacifica below the Montara Mtn Foothill to the northern side. Good trails to go higher for panoramic views as well as lower valleys for wildlife and deep forest canopies. The park can be accessed from Montara Mtn Access Rd from Montara. Although it's springtime, don't expect to see the bed of flowers since it's more of tree forestland and less sun phased terrains like that of San Bruno.

An excellent place to go to get onto trails or just hang out in the park at picnic tables with family. There are restrooms and the park is dog friendly. There is a $6 fee unless you have a pass. This park is a hidden gem in Pacifica.

Good place for group picnics and hiking. $6 per car entrance. Clean flushing toilets with running water. We took the Hazelnut trail today which is their longest trail. It is mark as 3.7 mile trail which ends on a fire road and add another 0.75 mile give or take from the end of the trail going back to the parking lot. From the trailhead, it is an uphill switchback hike for about 1.9 mile and downhill after that. On a sunny day, you can view the valley and the coast. Hydrate before you go if you don’t want to carry water.
There are lots of wildflowers and a few benches along the trail to enjoy the view.
The trail is wide and have shades.

Very diverse county park on Pacifica. A handful of very diverse trails, from short and easy to climbing 1600 feet in three miles (up to Montara Mountain). A couple large lawns and picnic areas. Flora and fauna are abundant. Great for solo hikes or outdoor time with the kids. Check website/call for seasonal hours, trail/facility closures. $6 parking fee.

If you want to see a lot of green on a hike when the bay area is brown due to draught, this is the place to visit. One of my favorite park to hike at. $6 entry fee for parking and there are a lot of spots. There is also generous amount of space for picnicking.

Showcasing a little something for all, San Pedro Valley Park offers a variety of hiking, wildlife and amenities, including restrooms, picnic areas, volley ball courts and horseshoe pits among other activities. There is a entrance fee for parking and dogs are not allowed.
For a peaceful stroll or a strenuous but beautiful hike look no further than this gem nestled in the hills of Pacifica.

This park has a clean bathroom, well maintained/marked trails, and friendly staff. I had a great experience today hiking the Montara mountain trail and went to the top. It was cold, windy and foggy! I'll definitely be back.

1100-acre Park with several trails, including one hard trail of 3.7 miles with 900' elevation change - most of which is at the first mile of the trail. Visitors center is closed until further notice due to Covid. Lots of eucalyptus, live oak, manzanita, ferns, and blackberry. There is a trout stream, also. Great for quiet hikes.

This is a very nice park which several nice trails for kids. We took Trout Farm trail which is circular and it is less than a mile with a bit of lifting. There is also another one for kids: Brooks Creek Trail which is around 3 miles.

Loved this park! It only cost six dollars for parking, which was plentiful even at noon on a Sunday. The trails take you through a variety of cool shaded and moist overgrowth followed by dryer rolling hills that reward you with spectacular views at the top. The other great thing, especially in a COVID-19 environment was the sparkling clean restroom that had plenty of soap and running water.

Very nice and well maintained trail. Took my group 4 hours to complete the round trip. Parking is $6. Need to pay my cash at dropbox if no attendant is present.
