New Mozart School of Music

My children have been taking lessons at New Mozart for the past 8 years, beginning with the Music In Me program with my son at age 3 and then moving on to private lessons (piano and now also ukulele for my 8 year old daughter). The teachers are dedicated, professional and make learning fun. I remember the first time I walked in and heard different musical sounds coming from the individual classrooms, it reminded me of the movie Fame, so much creativity and a joyful environment. I highly recommend New Mozart!

Teacher Hyo Jung is the perfect blend of professional with high standards for good technique, along with kind, flexible, and thoughtful. Our child practices daily enthusiastically and without prompt, and expresses how much they enjoy playing viola and learning new pieces.
Every New Mozart staff member we have interacted with in person or by email has been helpful, prompt, knowledgeable, and pleasant to work with. When they do not know the answer to one of my many questions, they let me know they will find the answer and then circle back to me.
We see the different students weekly excited to enter the school, and are appreciative.

My two kids have been with the school for more than 10 years. My older son studied Piano with teacher Alex. My younger son studies Saxophone with teacher Jonathan. Both are great teachers with competency and patience.

We are so happy to find New Mozart School of Music! Our daughter absolutely loves to her piano class with Teacher Maria, who is extremely kind and patient with her and keep motivating her to practice piano, enjoy music and love music. The staff is very responsible and helpful as well, just hoping there are more resting seats for the parents and students who need to wait for their classes :)

New Mozart School is a great place if you like music! Our daughter is doing piano and voice lesson and she loves Teacher Valerie! she is fantastic! very talented and fun and knows how to motivate young kids. Overall we are very happy with the school. The summer and winter recitals are very well prepare and engaging for all the parents. We recommend the school 100%

Harmony Road with Ms Maria is such a blast! My kiddos love music and playing piano thanks to her. She also speaks Spanish which was great for us since our kids are bilingual, so if there is anything we don't understand she explains it. We can tell she has a lot of experience with kids and is very passionate about music, which makes the kids excited! We recommend this school 100%. The office staff is very understanding and always working with you to make things work and the quality teachers make it all worth it.

My girls started their music journey when they were 3 yrs old. They all started with music in me and worked their way through Harmony Roads and now with private teachers. It has been an exhilarating journey into the world of music.

The faculty at New Mozart school is exceptional. The instructors not only possess impressive credentials but also demonstrate a genuine passion for teaching. The girls were very lucky to come across some teachers who went out of their way to tailor their teaching to my children's abilities and potential. Most importantly, not only are the teachers capable with the teaching, but also actively participate in their own music events. Having a teacher who actively participates in the music events and performances demonstrates their ongoing dedication to their craft. It shows that they are continuously honing their skills, exploring new techniques and expanding their musical horizons. This commitment to personal growth creates a dynamic and inspiring learning environment for my girls.
StaffMoreover, the administrative staff at New Mozart school of music also are very professional and efficient.  Whether it's through phone calls, emails, or in-person conversations, they make a concerted effort to address any questions or issues promptly and efficiently.

One aspect that truly impressed me about New Mozart school is their commitment to providing ample performance opportunities. They regularly organize recitals and concerts, allowing students to showcase their talent and gain confidence in front of an audience. These events not only celebrate achievements but also encourage growth and motivate students to strive for excellence.

Things can be improved:1. A room for waiting parents and siblings. My daughters started at New Mozart school of music when they were 3 years old. I still remember the days when my younger one was too young to go to a lesson and disciplined, it was really hard to wait for my older daughter outside the classroom. It would be very nice to have a designated waiting room equipped with tables and chairs while we are waiting.
2. Make up lessons:There are only two make-up lessons a year theoretically. Summer break alone would need to reschedule more than that. And teachers sometimes are absent more than twice a year. So I am hoping there is a more flexible make-up policy.

We love New Mozart. My daughter has been starting to learn piano since pandemic with this school via Zoom. She really enjoys her music class and teacher!

This is definitely the best music school for all our children. We have 3 children learning piano, violin and cello there since very beginning. New Mozart School of Music has the best music teachers in Palo Alto. And with rigorous and individually tailored education program, all 3 of our kids grow tremendously over the years, with so many accomplishments achieved.

Many years ago, we tried to bring our first child, a little girl at that time, to different music school in Bay Area to find the best teacher for her. Christine gave us a comprehensive introduction about the programs of the school and offered my daughter a carefully arranged plan with a very experience teacher. We decided to give it a try. It turned to be a huge success over the years. My daughter has been fully committed to her violin and piano programs ever since. And later on amazingly she was able to receive multiple State Honors for her piano Certificate of Merits in addition to other honors titles. These valuable honors helped tremendously her college application most recently this year and as the result, she was accepted by UC Berkeley along with all the musical achievements she accumulated over the years at New Mozart School of Music.

We still have 2 more younger children learning piano and cello at the music school, following their big sister's footsteps. We all know the benefits of music education are immense and highly beneficial to them. Music positively impacts our kids' academic performances tremendously. This is why we are happy to share the success story of our kids, especially our first daughter who really thanks New Mozart School of Music which made her dream truly come true after all these years.

Very good music class - my kid has been with Teacher Valerie for years through music and me, harmony road 1 and harmony road 2. His music development has been very satisfactory, not only in that he had adequate learning/training/made huge progress, but also that he has not lost a single bit of interest in this subject. I think they strike a very good balance there. The song they teach is very sufficient for my kids' musical exploration - I love every single one of those songs and they are a good inventory that I don't need to find other songs to introduce to my son. Overall, this is an ideal start to music journey in my mind - well worth the money considering their positive impact in the years to come.

All of our kids have taken music lessons at new Mozart. They have wonderful teachers and it makes it so much easier as a parent to find a good personality for each of your children since they have so many teachers.

I have been taking lessons with New Mozart School of Music for about 7 months and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Teacher Maria has helped me rekindle my love for music and taught me new ways to practice and approach multiple different genres. I would recommend this school for new and continuing students of music.

Both my kids started with Harmony Road at New Mozart and then private piano lessons with the same teacher. They LOVE playing piano because of their teacher!!! We highly recommend this music school.

My daughter has been taking piano lessons at New Mozart School of Music for four years since she was four and half. She first took group lessons called harmony road with teacher Valerie and then started with private lessons with her as well. Teacher Valerie has an amazing ability to get attention from wiggly worms like my daughter and music she picked were great for singing as well. After my daughter got a little more serious, we took two years of lessons with the late Dr. Alexander who took my daughter very seriously and had the amazing ability to introduce Bach to young kids. After his passing, we were assigned to Dr. Yi Fan, a new teacher who got a PhD like Dr. Alexander. I was unsure whether my daughter would be able to adapt to his style. Dr. Yi Fan won my daughter over in the first lesson when he casually played the music Dr. Alexander assigned to her so beautifully. He was able to pick new pieces and teach them in a way that she can get easily. We had always practiced new pieces in the sequence that we play them correctly first before we play them beautifully. But Dr. Yi Fan emphasized playing them with the right articulation and dynamic right away. I was moved by how he could transform how she plays a piece in just a short few minutes. Now my heart sings when my daughter practices at night simply because Dr. Yi Fan'a love of music is contagious.

We had a fantastic experience with teacher Kymber's violin lessons. She is patient and empathetic in her approach to teaching, and mixes in creative ways of getting the content across to her students. Ms Kymbers detailed notes at the end of each session are incredibly helpful for home practice sessions. We plan to continue with her as long as our schedules allow.

I wish I had signed up my older one for the Harmony Road when he was younger, as he was the oldest in the class, but he learned a lot and could perform many songs after a semester's learning without looking at the notes. I highly recommend that parents sign up their kids for Harmony Road, which is informative and entertaining. The teacher is also excellent!

During normal times, New Mozart music lessons are spectacular. These days, we are grateful our daughter has been able to continue her classes remotely with the same quality and care as during face-to-face classes. The online format has worked very well for us. It is remarkable the growth we've seen in our daughter's musical abilities over the spring and summer. At four years old, she is not only singing in solfege and playing several songs on the piano, but she also enjoys writing her own music for fun. We are very happy with New Mozart and her wonderful teacher, Valerie!

My son, now 6+, has been taking music lessons through New Mozart since he was 3. New Mozart's program of group lessons for the young age groups through music in me and Harmony Road are excellent for young kids, teaching them to have fun with music as much as teaching them about music itself. New Mozart teaches the children not just the playing of the assigned pieces, but encourage the children to learn all aspects of each piece (simple music theory, keys, patterns), as well as compose their own pieces--from the earliest age! My son loved all his teachers of the early group classes; he is now enjoying private classes at New Mozart with teacher Herman, who is clearly attuned to my son's abilities and interests. I am really impressed with this music school.
