Water Lounge Spa in San Mateo

First time we called they said they didn’t have any appointments until next month. When I called towards the end of the month the kind gentlemen got me and my boyfriend an appointment for Friday the same week I called. Once you arrive, they offer tea or water. I noticed everyone person that checked in after me got their room before us which I thought was a little weird. My appointment was at 7pm. The receptionist walked us over to our room around 7:01. The room was marvelous, we got the hot tub, cold plunge and steam room. It was the most relaxing place we have ever been in.

OK, spas are expensive in the silicon Valley and often you're left feeling like you only had 30-40 minutes of your 60-min massage. $120 before tip is typical, right? And we all know those other "massage" places advertising $50 massages aren't exactly massage places... so you're left paying too much for too little.

Well water spa it up!! I would say I've always had a great masseuse but Jimmy is by far my favorite. He pops every bone in your body using gentle pressure. Deep tissue is his thing so be ready to be relaxed after.

Great price/performance. Don’t expect fancy treatments but the place is clean and the therapists know what they are doing.

I give 5 stars for the couples spa retreat. We had 30 mins hot tub. 1 hour facial and body message. I scheduled an appointment and was an hour late but since I communicated to them they were able to see me and my husband. They were friendly and patience. They were great and the inside is totally updated. I enjoyed my package and deals.

AMAZING!!! Mrs Mia was super helpful at setting everything up and explaining the different options. The massages… heavenly!!! Knew what they were doing very well, I got the Swedish and it felt terrific. Everyone should give it a try, very clean and overall a great establishment! Highly recommend 🥳

We had a couples 30 minute spa and 60 Minute massage, it was fantastic , We were very pleasantly surprised.

If you're very tight and require a lot of work, I would recommend that you ask for Helen by name.

Relaxing, clean, professional! I did the hot tub/steam, 1 hr facial, and 1 hr massage. It was a great way to relax and de-stress. The facial nearly made me fall asleep. It was very cleansing, and left my face moisturized and glowing. I requested a medium-strong massage, during which the masseuse noticed, and worked out, some really tight spots. The massage even had hot stones!

From the moment we walked in until the moment we left the experience was incredible. The front desk receptionist was extremely warm and welcoming. The suites were spotless and she even brought us a pitcher of water to have during our session. We never felt rushed and she was patient as we exited. 10/10 would recommend especially with the top tier service during a pandemic. Worth every penny and highly encourage others to tip well. I believe we were the only folks there.

I've been here a few times and every time has been a 5 star experience. I typically get a 30 min hydro therapy and 60 min deep tissue massage.

This time my masseuse was April, and I couldn't have been happier. Despite returning from a relaxing vacation in Jamaica, my shoulders were extremely tight as were my hips and lower back. April was very attentive to these areas and ensured the correct pressure and release methods were followed.

While I feel a few more sessions will be required to obtain true relief, the session provided an immense amount of relaxation. The affordable price is superb, and the service is even better! I 10/10, 100% recommended Water Lounge Spa to everyone!

Highly recommend Sophia and May for massage and meridian treatment! I got a 90-minute massage and felt so relieved afterwards! Siting in front of computers made my neck, back, and left arm very tight. The 90-minute massage removed at least 60% of my tiredness. Their massage was so on point that my left arm got way more mobility afterwards! Will come back again for massages.

Emily at the front desk made us feel very welcome and she has such a positive happy warm vibe. The actual massage was so good and relieving. The masseuses are very good at what they do Dash they splurge on deep tissue and flow. It didn't feel like a week massage. The salt room was really relaxing and we sweat a lot which was really detoxing. The experience was very nice and we will come back again.

The single greatest massage therapist of my life… is Leo. I am not a rich man, but he was so good I signed up for 5 total sessions after just having him once and tipped 3 times the recommended amount, it’s a service that goes above and beyond like nothing I’ve ever had.

Back story: I am 38. Sit all day building a business, scoliosis, and lift heavy weights and train 4 times a week.

I have had 10+ dedicated massage therapists in my travels. All just.. okay or good.

Then I randomly came here one day after a series of intense pain. I had stomach issues, back pain like you wouldn’t believe, I couldn’t breathe fully since my diaphragm was blocked up, I had daily headaches from minor to rather intense, brain fog, a jacked up hip flexor, neck so stiff yoga doesn’t fix it anymore.

I literally couldn’t bend certain ways without moaning and just couldn’t fully stretch.

My body, despite my daily yoga and stretches, was wrecked from years of neglect and injuries that lingered deep, DEEP inside my muscle network.

Then, I went here and was randomly assigned Leo.

This was a gift from god.

I told him my issues ahead of time, and he agreed to go full force as long as I gave permission.

And oh boy, did he ever.

For 90 minutes, I was in pain like I’ve never been for a massage (again, this was EXACTLY the ONLY way I was going to get better) and he used compassion with long held surgically precise pressure and movements on spots that we bugging me for YEARS.

It hurt. Oh man did it hurt. I cried. I’ve seen him two times now and cried each time. But I ask for it. I can handle it.

But…. It’s gone. I can move my hips and legs again. Headaches are decreased. I can stretch SO MUCH better.

Here is how good he is: before meeting Leo, I went to a GI doctor about a stomach pain. Even had an endoscopy with no results. I couldn’t breathe. I went to the ER…. twice! Something was wrong. I couldn’t work out. I was afraid and confused. I couldn’t afford to lose time at my company, where people depend on me since we are a lean and fast growing start up.

Leo solved 70% of my problems.

Did you hear that? I just said 70 PERCENT!

I don’t ever leave reviews. Never. Ever.

But Leo is the undeniable king of massage.

He knows EXACTLY what to do and he is so Zen in his movements in that there is no wasted or “lazy” movements, and he finds the deep issues, works it perfectly, I let out a soft scream, we laugh, and he moves on to the next one.

The amount of work he did in just one 90 min session, with nonstop movement, is 2-3x what my other MTs did before.

I just couldn’t believe it.

I CAN MOVE AND BREATHE FULLY AGAIN!

I have several more sessions with him. We are going to do every muscle in my body, deep as the Amazon jungle; and it’s going to erase 20 years of injuries, neglect, and mobility issues from … well from just living life and resorting to average MTs thinking they (and my PTs as well) did something when really nothing ever changed.

THIS is lasting results kinda work.

Leo is a actual master. He needs his own reality show or YouTube Channel.

Do yourself a favor, get Leo.

Whatever is bothering you, get Leo.

If you need to get a week, book a hotel here, get him everyday… DO IT ! You’ll walk away a new person.

But promise me, if you do, you will tip him well.

This isn’t standard 90 min massage tip ($30). This is “you saved me time by doing 2 sessions in 1 kind of work and also found and fixed areas no one else can” kind of tip. $50-$80. More if you’re more well off than I am.

THAT… is what a master is worth.

If you want to tip less, go get an average MT. Don’t insult this man. He’s god‘a gift for full body relief and deserves to be paid accordingly.

When my company takes off and I get rich, I am going to hire him full time for me and my entire team. Or at least fly him out to where we are, all expenses paid for he and his family, for once a month sessions for our team.

Leo, from the bottom of my heart, thank you. I can’t wait for the work we are about to do next week.

I have been looking for a steam room in the area since the ones at the gyms are all closed. I found water lounge on Google and I am very happy. The private hot tub and steam room is exactly what I was seeking. I did not get out a microscope and inspect everything, but everything looked clean and well kept. Steam was nice and hot. Hot tub could have been hotter, not sure if I needed to set a temp though. However the jets were great, nice and strong. I will definitely go back and next time book a massage too.

Love this place for reasonably priced and quality massage

I tried this place because of a Groupon but will go back without one. It's not your typical massage location. They are very attentive and pleasant. Private hot tubs and steam rooms are wonderful. Clean and spacious.

Masseuse found my knots and worked them. Amazingly I didn't need to tell him to do so. Pressure was just right.
