El Palo Alto Park Reviews

One of the nicer of the city parks in the area. Located right next to downtown and palo alto transit center, this park has great secluded areas for relaxing, and a bridge overlooking the creek. Theres also some information about restoration projects happening. Lots of wildlife everywhere. Great park!

The El Palo Alto tree, city emblem, Stanford mascot. Struggling to survive but it's still here! Nice little park with history and other informational signs. California Historic Landmark #2.

Wouldn't really call it a park since you can walk through it in a few minutes. As far as parking there are local cross streets (Palo Alto and Alma) that can park. This little area is a nice historical marker for the Palo Alto tree that the city is named after. A few other signboards are posted around to learn about the area 's history. If you go further through the paved area, you will end up on a city street. Once there, notice that California historical marker #2 is right there!

On a walk from Palo Alto University Avenue along Alma to the Menlo Park Library, you pass the original "palo alto" namesake

Whether for walks or biking, this park is a fantastic choice. It is a breathe of fresh air and nature in the middle of an infamously busy and stressed out suburb. This place is definitely worth the visit. You will not regret it!

This 1100-year-old Coast Redwood tree is a living legend, a must-see, the reason behind the Stanford logo, the namesake for the city of Palo Alto, the witness tree for early Spanish missionaries setting up missions in the Bay Area, and is daily threatened by litterers and vandals to the point where the humbling giant might not live to see another few years if neglect and human ignorance continues.
The city of Palo Alto "maintains" the tree, and, dare I say, they do not do a very proper job of keeping the area clean and safe for the tree or human visitors alike. I have personally written them a letter of complaint, and I urge all nature-lovers and friends of El Palo Alto in particular to do the same. This tree did NOT live so long to be screwed over by bureaucracy.
Visit here to connect with a giant being on a small patch of nature that grows less and less natural by the day as the tree and park grounds lie in continual disrepair. With help, though, we can turn this trend around.
Should you go, though, PLEASE do not litter, PLEASE do not vandalize, PLEASE do not tear off needles / bark as souvenirs, and PLEASE DO tell all you know that might care about the need to protect the tree.

Small but nice. You can walk it in 5 minutes. Interesting to see the origin of the name of Palo Alto and its Sequoias.

A precious little space, serene and scenic. You forget about train tracks and traffic on Alma Road. A gateway to a gorgeous neighborhood.
