Didn't know I wanted an egg custard tart until I walked by and saw this place. Good thing I did because my life changed! Amazing texture, perfect crust, so tasty! I'm a little glad I don't live close by because I'd be here all the time. Would love to try one of the other beautiful offerings. Don't forget your cash!

Cash only. No preservertive! So fresh.

Whenever we visit Mountain View, we would stop in Hong Kong Chinese Bakery. They have the banana mochi that reminds me of my childhood delight. We buy at least half a dozen or a dozen to go.

Our favorites: banana flavored mochi, baked or steamed BBQ pork bun, paper wrapped sponge cake!

The lady behind the counter was very nice every time we visited.

My husband has been coming here since he was a kid. Food is very consistent, and the owner is so nice. We usually get egg tarts, but we have also enjoyed the Hong Kong mochi, custard buns, coconut cake, BBQ pork buns, and more!

Cash only. Egg tart is fantastic - not too sweet, great, flaky crust! Tried and liked the coconut cake as well. Prices are typical mountainview

I tried their egg tart, taro bun , sweet bun aka pineapple bun, black forest cake, and almond sponge cake. I was surprised by their black forest cake it had a rich chocolate flavor and it was really moist. I have to say of all the baked goods I tried their black forest cake is my number 1 choice and my 2nd choice is their egg tart.

Recommendation: Black forest cake and Egg Tart

Tasty, fresh food. I ordered a sesame ball (Jian Dui) and almond cookies. Friendly, helpful service.

This is one of the best hole in the wall experiences on Castro. I enjoyed my curry beef bun so much, stole a bite of my husband's baked pork bun, then ran back into the store to get one for myself. My husband also cried over how good his mango mochi was, and I adored the sweet sesame ball. The people who run this establishment are also very kind. 12/10 will be coming back!

Love the place. They have gluten free and vegan dessert that my son loves. Get the rice cake and red bean banana cake.

Wife cakes are the best I've had in all of bay area (south bay, and sf). At first, I thought it was pricy since I've never seen wife cake sold for almost $5 for one. However, their wife cake is on par with one of the most original iconic Hong Kong wife cake shops (han heung).

The flaky crust of the wife cake is just spot on. I've not found any other bakery capable of making the same crust. An even added bonus is, although the crust was spot-on, the ratio of filling to crust was great. I always prefer more filling than crust. The filling itself was perfectly flavored. It was just the right amount of sweet and had a slight mochi chewy texture to it making it absolutely perfect.

Next time I will try some other things too but will definitely get more than 1 wife cake to go.

A friendly, family-run traditional Cantonese bakery where you can get the most delectable egg tarts... Tender, smooth egg custard paired with a flaky, loose crust, served warm as they are made continuously throughout the day. Many other pastries and confections are available including mooncake and rice-flour based goodies. 2 chairs and a table are available for customers outside.

Hong Kong bakery is one of the places in down town Mountain View that you must visit! Their pork buns and sweet rolls are the best in the Bay Area. Be sure to have cash when you visit because they are cash only. The owners of the bakery are genuine and kind and always give great service. I’ve never been disappointed when visiting. Try the sweet rolls! So good!!!

40 yrs old fashion bakery, quite Chinatown style. The owner couple are nice. Try the HK banana mochi, very good. Pricey but in southbay everything is expensive, lol

This bakery is an absolute gem! I've gone to every Chinese bakery in the bay area and the buns here are easily the most authentic & the best. Their baked goods remind me of my childhood and hit nostalgia on point. Everything is well made & portions are generous for the price compared to everywhere else. Their curry beef buns & 蛋挞 (egg tart) are fantastic!
The owners are the sweetest older couple who are incredibly welcoming & helpful, they will go out of their way for their customers. They are old-school and only accept cash, but it's worth it. There are atms within walking distance. I stop by this bakery whenever I can, highly recommend!
