Ava's Downtown Market & Deli

Amazing to have a local grocery store like this within walking distance. We can do most of our everyday grocery shopping here. They also have great local artisan and international foods alongside all the essentials. And they were so nice to start carrying my favorite soy milk when I asked the owner :)

This grocery store is very cozy. So many delightful niche options for cheese and pasta, a great selection of wines and milk (which is how I discovered this place, they stock A2 Milk!). They also have reasonably priced flowers, plants and succulents, what a bonus!

Good selection for a small store, including fresh food, beer and wine, snacks. Staff was very helpful. Convenient to have this downtown.

Stopped in to try the sushi/poke bowl and ordered the combo. It was delicious!!! Surprisingly, it wasn't outrageously over priced and the serving was more than generous. As for the food itself - it was fresh seafood and the avacados were perfect. I'll be back there next month for another poke bowl.

Such an awesome local market! They've got a lot of fresh produce, healthy foods, and stuff you may not be able to get at big-box stores. The staff are so kind and helpful as well!

Not only is Ava's incredibly convenient when you're in downtown Mountain View, there's a secret benefit that many don't realize: It's like a clandestine Trader Joe's right in our midsts!

What do I mean?

Well think about the fact that shopping at TJ's is so much more fun and easy than your average grocery store:

1) There's always new products from around the world to tempt your tastebuds.

2) You don't have to spend hours walking through a giant mega-store with 800 varieties of ketchup just to get your weekly shopping done.

And Ava's is just the same:

1) Sure, it's got all the name-brand stuff that you expect. But it's also got off-the-beaten-path delicacies in just about every category: The best tortilla chips you've ever had from a small-batch producer, paella mixes straight from Spain, and locally-baked bread (e.g., scallion loaves from Acme) that you'd normally have to go to a farmer's market to get.

2) Because it's a small-format store, you can get in-and-out in under 20 minutes - no stress, no giant lines, just quality, interesting food fast! ⚡

So if you ever thought of Ava's as just another random grocery store in our midsts - think again. Just like Trader Joe's, Trader Juan's (AKA the owner) is a rare gem! 💎

Last Oct, I started to find Uji Time ice cream here in ava. The great thing in this location is they rotate the flavors, as Uji Time has more than 20 Asian inspired fusion flavors.
Each month I visit I can find new flavors to try.

My favorite local grocer with all the essentials. High-quality items, including dairy, fresh produce, and specialty items (like gluten-free and vegan options). Just the place to go when you need to pick up a few ingredients for dinner. Staff members are awesome.

Great local grocery store with lots of excellent quality yogurts, ice cream, teas, produce, and grains. The owner curates the selection really well, and we've often found fancy beverages and cheeses that we'd never seen before that end up becoming staples (like yuzu soda and nutty ice cream bars).

My favorite local market. You should check out their local in-season produce. In each season they have delightful selections of fruits, vegetables and other seasonal items. For example, their cherries / peaches in early summer and pomegranates / pears in autumn are amazing. And last but not least, people there are super friendly and nice.

My favourite local grocery store. Always a friendly smile to be had and never any queues! A great selection of meat and dairy free options, lovely fresh fruit and veg plus a decent bakery selection. Don't miss the deli items near the till- the samosas are amazing. I'd love to see them open up the chicken/beer eatery it looks like they used to have in the corner!

FLOWERS! Incredibly reasonable prices for such a specialty grocer. They carry a lot of organic produce, at prices that are cheaper than the farmer's market. Great beer, sausage selection. Surprising amount of unique, fresh breads. Super impressed by their flower options.

Local organic products

A great selection for a relatively small grocery store. they have all the basics, great produce, and lots of fun surprises - like local bread and pastries. You would think there prices would be higher, but they are quite reasonable. Staff is always friendly and helpful.

Favorite local grocery store! Staff is amazing, kind, and welcoming. Produce is very fresh and delicious. Deli items are great. And the bakery items are delicious and reasonably priced. This will always be the best grocery store in the area.

Going to this supermarket was a really pleasant experience. The cashier helped me to find stuff I was looking for and we had a nice chat :)

Really fresh produce and well curated selection of goods, especially their baked goods! We love stuff from Palo Alto bakery. The only thing I wish they had was fresh meat -- they mostly carry frozen due to the small size of the store.

So grateful for this market. They are very well stocked, with great choices of fresh and pantry items. My go to place for many staples. Thank you so much for being there. Customer service is excellent, checkout is always fast.

Expensive but high quality!! I mainly come here for fresh bread, coffee beans, and produce. They have beans from a few local specialty roasters - Ubuntu is my favorite. There is a huge variety of produce and I've always found what I was looking for. There is also a nice variety of cheese and beer. One aisle even has cleaning products, which is great and a little surprising for such a small store!
