What a delightful book store! It's so much bigger than you'd expect from the outside and chock full of great titles. Spotted brand new releases and great classic titles. Loved the staff recommendations table. So many options and they all looked fabulous! Friendly, welcoming staff made our visit a dream. Nestled among other shops and restaurants, this should be on your must-do list when in Mountain View.

What a lovely bookstore with a wide selection of books, for a wide range of audience from baby-toddler to adults.
We stumbled upon this one after our brunch at Crepevine across the road. The store’s atmosphere was amazing. It was so chilling and relaxing, with some background music.
There’s many sections organized neatly side by side, with some little notes on staff’s recommendation.
My baby enjoyed some toddler’s books, but he quickly got his attention on some jigsaw puzzles for 3 years old. We ended up buying 2.

It's always warm and lovely to come here. I continue to come here and support the local bookstore. They have a sales section which has NY bestsellers even. Then there is obviously the Mountain View library that's very close in case a book seems expensive. Highly recommend this over very robotic experience of buying a book online even if it costs a bit more.

Excellent local bookstore with a great selection, really nice staff, local vibe in a convenient location, and prices are decent. I enjoyed my time browsing here and didn’t feel pressured to make a purchase since I really didn’t know what I wanted. I left with two books! They have a decent selection of various titles separated by genre. They have many of the recent best sellers laying on display in front.

It’s not a very large bookstore, but large enough that you’re guaranteed to find something you like. They have little tables outside in front too where you could sit, read, and enjoy a cup of coffee while checking out the lively Downtown Mountain View area.

A dog-friendly bookstore with a range of cards, puzzles, gifts, and of course huge selection of books - they even have treats for your pup, would definitely recommend! 📚

I don't come here often enough. They have a really fun selection of kids toys and games, and of course a lovely layout of books. It's so cozy and happy to just pop in here and browse. Love it.

From cover to cover this bookstore has a book for every age. In between the pages they offer cute gift items: calendars, toys, stuffed animals, cards, pens and puzzles. Don't hesitate to ask the knowledgeable bookworm staff to locate/recommend a book or three. Read between the lines at the sale rack or the fine print on their public notices board for upcoming author talks. Make sure to bookmark this place in any chapter of your life.

Nice little book store, not too of a wide selection but it is very clean and well kept. Just a overall very nice environment.

I love this place! So many books here, all the ones I want to read too and they were so easy to find. The first thing I saw when I entered was there collection for Pride, which I appreciate. They had a good selection and I bought two books. I wanted to get so many more. I also got a bookmark.

Always a great place to buy books. Doing the holidays it's festive, there was students singing carols outside last week. It really makes the downtown a special place.

I love this amazing spiritual book and gift shop in Mountain View. It is part of a very walkable stretch filled with restaurants and shops.

Blind date…with a book. They have a shelf of anonymized books - covered with brown packing paper with handwritten descriptions of what each book is about. Really interesting way of enticing readers to read outside of their normal taste preferences! The shop has a really decent selection of books as well and a many good sale items too.

We have less and less book store. Shopping here to read some books is a treat . The staff is friendly and helpful to search books or offer to order books they don't have in stock. They sometimes offer books with autographs and that would make a special collection. I am willing to pay more for new books.

One of my favorite bookshops in the Bay Area. Especially this location because they do "blind date with a book". I've found a few gems from there and it's always fun to read through the reviews and trailers of an anonymous book. The staff is helpful and friendly.

The book store is awesome, we bought the blind date with a book: the price is affordable and there is a lot of useful information about the book but without spoilers. The diversity of books is great, I found a lot of books I loved :) highly recommended to visit :)

First day in town for a conference, feeling homesick as a newish mom; it happens to be days before my birthday (tomorrow), and I knew no one in Mountain View even though I worked in that same city for years (met my husband here). This was the first evening I had to myself in a long while.

I headed this way looking for a thrift store for fun but it was closed. Stumbled around in Books Inc for 45 minutes looking for something, not sure of what it could be. A book centered on the bottom shelf in the ’favorites’ pile near the front caught my eye and after some long waffling I decided to break into a 400 page fantasy book with a glowing staff recommendation (I haven’t read a novel in years).

Sat alone at the Crepevine across the street, the staff as kind as ever, armed with an chai latte and I turned open the first page. Suddenly I’m in turn-of-the-century Paris when night begins to fall, punctuated by an accordionist across Castro coincidentally playing La Valse d’Amelie. When the waiter took away my plate I was on page 87, so I decided to leave a nice tip and wandered over to sit just behind the musician (her name is Nadia) who unexpectedly played all the familiar melodies I taught myself on the piano as a child over two decades ago.

Truly a birthday present like no other—it just took one book and I felt SO LUCKY. The luckiest.

I wish whoever finds themselves in a Books Inc is also gifted an evening as special as that for themselves, to transport into a whole world and wakes up more courageous the next day. 11/10 would recommend.

Books Inc. featured a lot of my favorite titles from the past year, but it also had canonical cultural contributions. For example, I was looking for Fun Home by Alison Bechdel and the attendant was able to locate it for me immediately. Would recommend this bookstore for anyone visiting Mountain View who needs a good read for the trip back.
