This is my current school, and I go between both campuses. I'm an ag major, so most of my time is spent in the ag department. The ag department on the East campus here has such a beautiful back patio for studying, a greenhouse filled with beautiful plants, a country store to buy fresh eggs, and of course the best teachers you'll ever have in every classroom.

Now that I have 8 semesters at MJC I can say honestly that sure there are those bad professors. overall most of the professors I had were very professional and they really cared about teaching. Most of my classes were very tough so you will get your money's worth.

My experience so far has been great. And it seems that a major issue for bad reviews here was the issue with handing out constitutions. many will be pleased to know that it was allowed this year without intervention or problems. This school i feel has improve on many of the negative aspects mentioned previously.

An amazing school for a fraction of the cost of a UC or CSU. Honestly, a great plan for a student planning on getting credits before transferring, picking up credits between degrees or someone wanting to continue their life's journey of learning.

My MJC chemistry and algebra professors succeeded in teaching me the subjects which my high school teachers failed to do. I attended classes for two years on the east campus before transferring to Cal. My MJC speech professor was so good I used his notes to help me at UC. I really enjoyed my time at MJC and strongly recommended it to anyone who wants a high quality education at a fair price.

I started attending Modesto Junior College immediately after being honorably discharged from the military and had absolutely no difficulty getting into classes that I wanted or needed. I understand this is more difficult for non-veterans, but for me, it worked out perfectly. The veterans services office ran more efficiently than any others I've encountered at the multiple colleges and universities I've attended in the past.

There were plenty of class options that fit my schedule as I was both working full-time on a 12 hour night shift and going to school 1/2-3/4 time while also raising a family. I managed to get a degree and all of my prerequisites completed in time to apply for the Stanford School of Medicine Physician Assistant (PA) (also known as the Primary Care Associate Program) and was accepted. This program is highly selective, accepting only 50 of the sometimes thousands of applicants, and I was accepted the first time I applied. Once in the demanding two year PA program at one of the world's premiere medical schools, I realized how fortunate I was to have such gifted and dedicated profs and instructors for my science and math courses to help me prepare for the rigors of a challenging program.

Their dedication and passion enabled me to benefit all the more from the academic experience I would later encounter. The humanities courses left me well prepared for the intensive critical thinking that is expected of a student in graduate-level scientific studies as well. Professors consistently took my ambitions and academic goals very seriously, offering additional office hours to coincide with my hectic life schedule. One professor even allowed me to take a full two weeks off from class shortly before finals to travel to Haiti after the earthquake in 2010 to do some desperately needed humanitarian and medical aid work; Upon returning, he made time to meet me at a cafe for a whole weekend to help me get up to speed again so that I would not just pass the final, but do exceedingly well in a subject with which I had historically struggled.

Another MJC professor, after I had finished my educational goals at this institution and moved on, availed himself to help me write a superb cover letter for my application to Stanford. There are countless other examples of science instructors who were willing to lend their personal time and guide me to conquer personal and academic obstacles in some of the most demanding courses that MJC offers. Some notable examples are the Chemistry, Microbiology and the Anatomy program (which left me notably prepared for the rigors of a similar but very fast-paced anatomy program at Stanford University).

If I were to describe my experience in a single sentence at MJC it would be: "The faculty at this school invested in me and helped me build on my strengths to succeed in the career of my dreams." If you plan to pursue an education in health sciences, I highly recommend this school.

The people with bad attitudes here are the same people would have a bad attitude on a family vacation. No one gives you happiness. No one is going to give you a degree for feee. You gotta work for things and MJC makes it easier to get your degree and transfer. Most of the time the classes at MJC will be harder than the classes you end up taking at a university because they are getting you ready for any college you want to go to and such they have to have higher standards. This place has been good to me and if you have the right attitude will be good to you as well. The people who bring it down are the same people who hate on MJC hate being in Modesto but stay here or have to come back because they can't make t any where else.

Ah, MJC. This place has been great to me. MJC, without a doubt, grants your the opportunity to chase your wildest academic dreams. Perhaps, there is a handful that talk down on this college. However, those are the same people that can't seem to make it there. MJC will be what you make out of it. Stay focused and persevere. I attended MJC right after high school, did my two years and now have been accepted to UCLA. MJC has great professors and counselors who truly care about you.
