I truly have come to adore this place, it absolutely has a few quirks here and there....but this isn't a "normal"/ traditional business either. The building itself IS "an oldie but a goodie" so if occasional bumps in the night or say a ghost or two scares you then this may not be your spot..... lol!! FACT!! The design is kind of old and weird but super cool, many rooms have been splashed with a local artist's rendition of " Piece de le resistance'!! Very cool to the kids older and younger alike;) You've got to experience it to appreciate everything involved🙃

This place has been a really amazing opportunity for me and I'm really grateful for the experience. There is a lot of beautiful mural artwork and a lot of these rooms that's really impressive, the building is old but everything is clean and well taken care of, and this place is a really a charmer considering the 1906 construction date seen on the brass placard on the front of the building.

I stayed here about a year and a half ago. The only reason I’m here to write this now is because I thought of it when someone asked for a recommendation. This was my first time ever staying in a hostel and I loved it so much that I’m afraid no other hostel will live up to it. The staff were so friendly, down to earth and over the top helpful when I lost my wallet within an hour of flying into Seattle from Philadelphia. The atmosphere is great. The common areas were great for meeting new people. It had a real sense of community. The decor is so unique, and super clean! The bathrooms well exceeded my expectations. Great showers, hot water and amazing water pressure. I can’t say enough great things about this place. I hope it is able to open back up soon. Also, I saw a bad review complaining about the security (needing a keycard to get into the building and needing to show it to the front desk every time you enter). I thought this was great! It made me feel much safer staying there knowing not just anyone could come in off and wander around.

This place was amazing! The staff was super friendly and out going to new travelers. The rooms are well kept, as well as the bathrooms and showers. What I enjoyed about this place more than the Green Tortoise was the movie theater room, downstairs basement, the outdoor patio(the perfect quiet spot in the center of the city), and the layout of the kitchen. Just had a different relaxed vibe about it. WELL worth the price!

Building has a hot side and a cool side. Depending on season, definitely ask for your preference when booking rooms. Awesome staff, location, and group outings. Great place to meet cool people from all over the world

Fabulous! This is a fun, relaxed environment in a great location. I couldn't believe how close I was to everything I wanted to do-- it's easy walking distance from amazing food, night life, and attractions. The staff were all so friendly and helpful. They made me feel welcome right away, even greeting me by name as I came and went. Plus they let me stow my bags as I had odd flight times.

Rooms were quiet, showers were hot, and linens were clean. I especially appreciated the fresh fruit at breakfast. I thought it was a little odd that towel rental was extra; it's included with the linens just about everywhere else. But they only charge $2 and that's literally my only complaint, so whatever!

This is an excellent place to stay. Friendly people and staff. The staff is ultra helpful. Clean and inexpensive. If you don't mind sharing a room, great, yet they have reasonable rates for private rooms. Close to most tourist destinations. And, with all that, a good healthy breakfast.

Great location, very friendly staff, and clean. The price is unbeatable. Open kitchen for food prep and storage. Rooms have small lockers, but bring your own lock. Separate single shower and bathrooms. The privacy was great. Shared rooms become the only variable. The experience will change depending on your roommates. #earplugs Overall, the best hostel I've stayed at.

This was my first Hostel experience a couple of years ago and I thoroughly enjoyed it! The staff were very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I met some really cool people here, literally everyone was super friendly. The bathrooms were clean, it just kind of sucked it was down the hallway, you have to keep checking back to see if there was a bathroom available in the morning. I would definitely stay here again.

Kitchen is well equipped, breakfast is good and staff are friendly. They are very strict about security which is a good thing. The bathrooms are spacious and as far as I was able to experience, there are enough. The beds are good as well. WiFi is a bit spotty in the rooms but it works great in the common areas.

Great experience! Was in a room with six people from different countries, all friendly. The staff is very helpful, they also make sure the hostel doors are secured at all times. Kitchen is very equipped. Breakfast is only early and whole. Events are varied and fun to join.

Stayed in the 6 bunk room for two days. All my roommates were respective of each other and friendly. Staff is friendly and easy to talk to. Breakfast and dinner were served the days I was there. This was my first time staying at a hostel and wasn't expecting the friendly environment I came across. I've slept on more comfortable beds though.

Location is really good, about a half a mile from "everything" , main attractions. Beds are not the best but they work! Breakfast included! Rooms are decorated all differently. They have a movie theater and a cool lounge area! Shower towels are $2. Staff really friendly and there to help out 24 hours a day!

I've really liked my stay at the hostel. Very inexpensive for the heart of the city, but still really secure (a key card is needed to get into building and room). Very courteous staff and friendly dorm mates. The have plenty of space for you to relax in lounges and a courtyard, as well as a communal kitchen. Great stay during my first trip to Seattle!

I really enjoyed staying at the City Hostel Seattle on my recent trip! My sister, friend, and I shared a private room and it was perfect for the three of us. I liked how updated the bathrooms were. Staff was friendly. My only complaint was the breakfast but I can't really say too much because it is a nice place to stay for the low price!

My first time traveling alone. I was scared first to go by myself as a woman. But the people at city hostel made me feel welcome and I made lots of new friends. The stuff is great. Location great, you see the Space Needle when you walk out the door. Bathrooms are very clean. Beds could be softer but after a few nights you get used to it. Also breakfast is free and you get entertained. I'm going again when I visit Seattle the next time.

Friendly staff and cozy atmosphere. Breakfast was a little limited and the showers had super strong pressure (yes, too strong not too light - can't even put your face under the spray) but overall a very nice temporary home to come back to after exploring all day.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable beds and large rooms. Pretty quiet. Hot large showers. Great entertaining areas. Movie room was fantastic. Lounge room was nice and big with lots of seating. Couldn't use the outside seating due to weather, but it would be nice when not raining. Lots of games. Free meal on monday was small but great. Good company. Great location in Belltown close to lots of restaurants and bars and less than 10 min walk to Pike Market. Light link rail approx 10 min walk away. Fyi, only stairs available to higher floors in case you have ambulation needs.

One of the best hostels I've ever been to. The rooms are designed by several local artists. So this place is really unique and has a great, homelike atmosphere. So I did enjoy this spot near Pike Place Market. Plus they threw a big Thanksgiving party! Thank you, guys!!

I would definitely stay here again. The staff was friendly. The beds were comfortable. It is in a great location in downtown Seattle. It is a safe place. I had a fantastic time here. Most importantly, the bathrooms were clean. If you are planning a visit and like people, I highly recommend this place.
